Chapter 1
"Ams are you excited?"
Amara grinned and nodded at her brother.
"Do you think we're going to be in the same house?"
Chuck shrugged as he buttered his toast. Though his eyes suddenly turned wide as he looked back at her.
"We'll still be close though right? I mean I -"
Amara pulled him close and nodded.
"Don't worry I won't leave you behind, even if you're a pain in the arse younger brother."
"Hey! I'm a joy to be around!"
"Alright lads lets go."
They both looked up from their breakfast nook to see their uncle Crowley leaning against the doorway. His arms crossed with a scowl on his face.
"Come on you lot, we don't want to be late."
"Yes Uncle Crowley."
They chorused, rolling their eyes at each other the moment Crowley's back was turned. He wasn't even related to their mom.
As they got to Kings Crossing he sighed as the crowd jostled them.
"Bloody hell, the traffic this year. I'm not paying enough for this."
Amara pulled on her brother's sleeve before Chuck turned around to say something. Something probably sarcastic and that would get him into trouble.
Their hands clasped tighter around each other as they push through the barrier.
They waved to Crowley who waved back a small smile on his face. He was proud of them - money be damned. For the moment anyway.
They boarded the train and found a compartment and sat down next to each other. They both opened a book and began to read, their cat - Lux sat curled up in between them.
Chuck roused Amara as he heard the trolley for candy come near them.
"Want anything?"
"Chocolate frogs. What are you getting?"
Chuck shrugged and gave her cheek a kiss before jumping down from the sea to go and get some snacks.
"No I want that one!"
"You already have that one. Give!"
Their compartment door opened to see a boy with blond hair and blue eyes.
"Um, I'm Zeus. Want to trade some chocolate frogs?"
Chuck nodded while Amara beckoned him in with a smile.
"Cool cat, what's it's name?"
"His name is Lux."
"Cool. So do either of you have Harry Potter?"
Chuck rolled his eyes and gestured to Amara. Amara rose an eyebrow.
"What can you give me for him?"
Zeus grinned and held up a Grindwald. The chocolate frog company had recently begun printing villains, so they were still rare.
Amara's eyes widened. She bit her lip as she looked between the two cards.
"Anything else?"
"Oh come on! Harry is worth at least one Grindwald."
Chuck smirked,
"You're not going to be able to get her to part with the that card. But I'll trade you Grindwald for a Dumbledore."
The door opened again a boy with green eyes and brown hair peered at them.
"So this where the party is. I have a chocolate frog of Ron."
"How many did you buy?"
Amara's voice was low as Zeus and the new boy - Dean argued over which was more valuable - Grindwald or Voldemort.
Chuck winked at her,
"Cleaned out the cart."
"Charles!"
"Oh come on what else were we going to use the money for? Besides you can't tell you're not having fun."
Amara rolled her eyes and turned away.
The door opened a third time, this time showing three pairs of blue eyes. Though two of the people had black hair and the third had brown hair and looked very uncomfortable - Amara and Chuck instantly took a liking to him, they felt the need to protect him.
"So this is where you've been Zuesy!"
Zeus groaned and motioned to the boy with black hair.
"This is Apollo my cousin. His sister Artemis. Don't know who the other guy is."
"I'm Castiel."
He gave them all a small smile.
"I, uh heard this is where all the chocolate frogs were?"
"Yeah come in."
Chuck motioned them all in, Lux meowed in protest and streaked out of the compartment. They all laughed at that.
They spent the rest of the journey talking and getting to know each other. They realized other than Dean they were all Purebloods, he was a Muggleborn with two younger brothers at home - Sam and Adam.
Zeus had a younger brother, Poseidon and an older brother Hades a Slytherin. He wanted to be in Gryffindor.
They arrived at the school and chatted as they saw boats and gasped at the carriages being pulled by seemingly no one.
Chuck and Amara hung back as the first years lined up. Their hands clasped together, their eyes both held uncertainty. If they were put into two different houses it would be the first time they'd be separated. They smiled at each other albeit hesitantly.
"Together no matter what right?"
Amara whispered,
Chuck nodded his hand tightening around hers.
"No matter what."
Zeus was the first of their group.
"SLYTHERIN!"
Hades cheered as Zeus grumbled, though he gave a small smile as Hades hugged him and gave him a kiss on the forehead, in a seemingly rare show of affection.
Castiel was next.
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
The Badgers cheered, no one among their group was particularly surprised.
Apollo and Artemis was next. Apollo went first,
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
Castiel grinned and embraced Apollo as he came to sit with them.
Artemis came next.
"RAVENCLAW!"
They cheered as did Apollo and Castiel. Chuck and Amara were next.
"Well take turns with Lux okay?"
Chuck whispered to her quickly. Amara turned to him confused for a moment, though she gave a slow smile.
"Yeah we will."
Amara squeezed his hand as her name was called. Chuck pulled her into a quick hug before letting her go.
Amara strode onto the stage, definitely not feeling as confident as she looked. She sat on the stage and told the hat to place her where he thought best. They had both agreed not to try to persuade the hat, some things were better left to chance anyway.
"RAVENCLAW!"
Artemis beamed and embraced Amara hard as she came to sit next to her.
"We're going to have so much fun!"
Amara gave her a tight smile, and tired as Chuck walked onto the stage.
They both commanded the stage, but in different ways. Amara appeared to ask people to watch her, to do as she said. Chuck wanted them to listen to him, to stand in awe of him.
"SLYTHERIN!"
Amara clapped and Zeus cheered. Chuck came down the steps and ran to embrace her before joining his house. The hall collectively awed as they embraced, even the teachers smiled and beamed at each other.
The Headmaster - Liam Malfoy a descendent of Scorpius and Rose Weasley rose and beamed down at them.
"Let the feast begin!"
They all retired to their rooms after that.
Their first year flew in a blur, Artemis and Amara became even closer, as did Zeus and Chuck. Castiel and Apollo and Dean seemed to become close as well. They hung out on the weekends and whenever they had down time. Chuck and Amara's knack of competitiveness with each other was fast becoming known as they both tried to outshine each other. Apollo and Artemis would try to judge or mediate but they'd both get fed up and leave. Which meant it fell to Dean and Castiel to stop them from blowing up the school, since Zeus kept encouraging them - even going so far as to find things for them to compete over.
All in all their first year was wonderful. They clambered down the bus and waved at Dean who was leaving that day for something called an airport - apparently he had to leave for the States, since he had family there and that's where he had been before his dad relocated them family for a job.
Dean promised to email them all much to the Purebloods confusion and Amara and Chuck's delight. Chuck had been the one to convince Crowley to get them a computer and internet, even though their mother is was beneath their family to partake in such "frivolous things".
Amara and Chuck fell onto their sofa in exhaustion.
"I can't wait for next year."
"Me neither! I heard we can try out for quidditch then. What position do you want?"
Amara shifted and looked out the window thinking.
"Seeker. You?"
Chuck tipped his head back in thought. His eyes lit as he looked back at her,
"Keeper."
Amara smirked at him.
"May the best team win then."
"Oh please even if you catch the snitch I'll win."
"We'll see brother, we'll see."
