Chapter 8
Dumbledore smiles politely, but Y/N can see that the twinkle in his eyes has now turned slightly confused. Before he can get another word out, stupid Lucius opens his mouth and flicks his platinum hair over his shoulder before attempting to explain the situation to Dumbledore.
“This...girl claims she is from a different universe. She told me some...classified information that proved her outrageous claim to be true.”
Pfft, yeah. Y/N thinks. If by ‘classified’ he means an embarrassing moment in which his house elf turned against him, then sureee.
“She also lied to Draco and tricked him into bringing her here. She is most definitely dangerous and must be dealt with,” He says through gritted teeth.
Y/N notices that Dumbledore’s eye twinkles are now looking more curious than confused, and luckily definitely not hostile.
“I am sure that will not be necessary, Mr.Malfoy. Why don’t you return home and I will talk to this young lady,” He says smiling.
Draco whips his head towards his father, clearly expecting protest, but Lucius simply nods and grabs the back of Draco’s collar and yanks him towards the door. Draco swatts the hand off and turns around to glare at Y/N, his cheats heated with embarrassment at anger.
Y/N feels quite guilty, and decided to take this moment to call out to him,
“I’m sorry! Really, I only wanted to see Hogwarts, and meet you, and I didnt mean to cause any harm. You better not do anything to him, Lucy. I'll know,”
She would not, in fact, know, but she needed a plausible threat to keep Draco out of punishment.
Draco and his stupid father simply give her equal looks of disgust and confusion and Draco lets himself be pulled out of the Headmasters...headquarters.
“Well. I think we have a lot of things to discuss,” Dumbledore says, and Y/N turns around with a little jump, because she had in fact forgotten he was even there.
About half an hour later (32 minutes to be exact), Dumbledore and Y/N have finished their time travel/universe hopping conversation and Y/N has been given a few minutes where she is free to roam around the castle.
Since its still summer, nobody else seems to be wandering around like Y/N is, and she gleefully runs around the huge airy corridors. The vibes are so immaculate and summery and ancient that she hopes she remembers this experience FOREVER!
Finally, after many sprints around the Great Hall ( the Great Hall!!!!) Y/N sits herself down in the courtyard and closes her eyes to take in this crazy experience.
Y/N feels many things. Excitement, worry for Draco, disappointed that she didn't get to meet anyone else, and…
Well, Y/N has a feeling that her adventure must come to a close. After all, it isn't great to meddle with time, and she’s not sure how great Draco is after all, but she does hope he outgrows his ways after the Battle. After the battle… suddenly Y/N has a very very important idea, and she quickly stands up and slowly makes her way to the tower that holds the owlery.
...and that is why I beg you to please refrain from giving your second son the middle name ‘severus’. Please do try to take all of my thoughts into account. You can trust me. Just ask Dumbledore.
Signed,
Someone from the...future <3
Y/N seals the letter with a flourish and feels glad that she thought to check the owlery for writing materials. She then finds an owl that looks very kind and looks straight into its big yellow eyes.
“Please deliver this to Harry Potter on May 3, 1998. I know you must understand me, ‘cause I think that's how you owls work, so i hope you can achieve this. Thank you!” Y/N places the letter underneath the foot of the owl and blows it a kiss.
Yes!!!! Y/N really hopes this works, if she changes nothing but the middle name of poor Albus Potter then she will count that as a success.
About 23 minutes later Y/N is sat by the Great Lake (is that what it’s called? She’s not sure) and staring out at the nice water as summer winds blow around her face.
Wow. This is all crazy. SHe still cant believe she’s hear. And she knows she has to go home now.
Y/N makes a sad face at that thought, her eyebrows furrowing and her mouth pouting, but stands up and brushes off the weird outfit. She takes off her shoes and socks and slowly wades into the lake, turning so she directly faces the sun.
The water is cold and the perfect temperature, and tiny little fish swim around her ankles.
Our Y/N looks up at the sky, sighs sadly, and whispers
“Mischief Managed.”
Epilogue
Where is it… where is it… what page is it...oh! There! Yes!
Harry crouched down so that Albus’s face was slightly above his own. Alone of Harry’s three children, Albus had inherited Lily’s eyes.
“Albus Evans,” Harry said quietly, so that nobody but Ginny could hear, and she was tactful enough to pretend to be waving to Rose, who was now on the train, “you were named for two very strong people. My mother was kind like no other, and her love saved my life. And Dumbledore sacrificed many things to help keep order. Someone from Slytherin could do the exact same things. They would both be proud of you no matter what house you are in,”
“But just say-”
“Then Slytherin house will have gained an excellent student. It doesn't matter to us, Al. Whatever house you get into does not affect what kind of person you are or can be,”
“Really?”
“Really,” said Harry.
Yes! Y/N had done it! Albus’s horrible name had been changed! However, Y/N does regret not telling Harry to also not name Albus Albus, or in fact to not name any of his children after dead people that they have to live up to… well, its better than nothing! And Harry doesn't tell Albus about how he asked the sorting hat to be in Gryffindor! Y/N always disliked that because it does kind of make it seem like it does actually matter. Well, now Albus hopefully has a better life! And none of that time travel bullshit happens. Hopefully.
And with that, Y/N’s great universe hopping adventure is concluded.
For now.
