hi sweetheart
Saturday was approaching way too fast for both seoyeon’s and yooyeon’s liking.
Since the day seoyeon broke down for the first time in front of her roommate things have been different, way too different actually. It’s like they unlocked a new connection that wasn’t merely about being roommates anymore. Their relationship grew bigger, it finally felt like they were friends.
Yooyeon didn’t break her promise, she never does and she wouldn’t, especially not right now, as she stood by seoyeon’s side every time the girl needed her, offering help even if it wasn’t much. And seoyeon really appreciated that. She wasn’t a stranger to people caring about her but, with yooyeon it was different.
Yooyeon wasn’t loud and proud like all of her friends, she never threatened to kill her parents like that would make her situation any better, like xinyu does, and she never held grudge against people she didn’t know shit about, like naky does.
She was neutral, of course she was on seoyeon’s side but she was calm about the whole situation that it left seoyeon wondering if yooyeon’s parents were that big of a difference compared to her own. Maybe they were sweet, loving parents, that were always there to support yooyeon, but that also didn’t make sense.
One, yooyeon was way too introverted, her character doesn’t give off the vibe of the parents she just described. Two, in the 2 months she had known her for she never saw her talk on the phone, only one time and it sounded way too professional of a phone call for it to be her parents.
Seoyeon was curious, very curious, from the start in fact, everything about her roommate intrigued her, the way she was so passionate about her studies, how silent she usually was, how beautiful she looked when she saw her at the library on days seoyeon decided to actually sit down and study, she always ended up staring at yooyeon for half of her time there but anyway, seoyeon had worse shit to worry about right now that does not include how pretty she found her roommate to be.
It was Friday night, 4 days after her mother’s call and less than 24 hours till she had to face her mom again after more than 2 months since she last saw her in person. Seoyeon was stressing, overthinking and shaking in her place as she sat on her desk trying to finish an assignment that was due on Sunday.
Yooyeon, on the other hand, sat on her own desk trying her best to focus on her work but she couldn’t, with the way the tiny human in her room kept moving and shaking and doing absolutely everything that would’ve annoyed yooyeon in any other situation but, she knew the reason behind all this anxiety her roommate is going through and she didn’t have the heart to tell her to calm down really.
Seoyeon looked like she was about to explode any minute now, that’s what yooyeon thinks. And, she wasn’t wrong, because her thoughts were broken by a sharp inhale from the other end of the room that was followed by silence and then seoyeon slamming her head on her desk.
Yooyeon got up before she knew it, making her way to the girl. when she put her hand on seoyeon’s shoulder, the girl looked up, her eyes teary already and yooyeon knew that there was no point in trying to go back to studying for either of them.
So she took seoyeon’s hand on her own and dragged her to bed, it was seoyeon’s bed again, and laid her down before she wiped the stray tear that managed to escape. With that seoyeon scooted over to leave some space for yooyeon. It looked like a routine of theirs but really this is was just the second time after that night where they found themselves laying in the same bed again.
As yooyeon got in, she turned to face her roommate and okay listen, crying looks different on everyone but seoyeon was genuinely a pretty crier or maybe she’s pretty in all her forms in yooyeon’s eyes, but looking at her right now, eyes red, tears still fighting the urge to escape, bottom lip quivering, yooyeon couldn’t help but think of her gorgeous and cute seoyeon looked so, she chuckled and she knows it’s disrespectful to do that in front of someone who was obviously struggling but yooyeon couldn’t help it really, and when seoyeon looked at her like she was a betrayed little hamster, did I mention that or no? seoyeon is definitely a hamster and her eyes were absolutely the prettiest thing yooyeon has ever seen but let’s not get side tracked, because all she yooyeon had to do to make up for her little disrespectful action is to take the said hamster in her arms.
When seoyeon tightened her grip on yooyeon’s frame when she hugged her back, yooyeon’s heart swelled, she couldn’t help but wonder why would anyone be this unforgiving and brutal to someone as tiny and adorable, and every other alternative there is, of a human being. So she said nothing and laid there with seoyeon in her arms, as she held her through whatever she was going through.
After a long prolonged silence that made yooyeon think her roommate was already in deep slumber, she heard a tiny, almost a whisper in the air.
“thank you” it was seoyeon and yooyeon couldn’t help but just hold her tighter.
It’s Saturday, classes ended, both girls sat in their room in silence as seoyeon packed whatever she needed for this weekend, the one she had to spend in the hell hole she grew up in, instead of the comfort of her dorm room and the person that brough her the said comfort.
2pm arrived way too fast for her liking and as she saw the text from her mother’s driver saying he was waiting for her in front of the building, she turned to look at yooyeon one last time but the girl was already looking at her, after a second, she offered a hug and seoyeon went for it without a second thought.
“take care of yourself”
“I will, you try to not say something wrong in that dinner and call me if anything goes wrong”
“why” seoyeon knew why, because yooyeon was nice, and she just wanted to make sure seoeyeon was feeling fine.
“so I can come and save you from there” she grinned and that was...such a beautiful sight to be honest, playful yooyeon was a part she didn’t get to really see and she kind of loves it.
“oh? My knight in shinning armour?” that got her a laugh out of her roommate and she couldn’t ask for more honestly
“of course, now don’t make the man wait, call me soon yeah?”
As she pulled back from the hug and looked at yooyeon, there it was, that look again, the one yooyeon always had on when she was talking to her, a look that seoyeon didn’t want to overthink, to not get her hopes up.
“yeah, bye” closing the door behind her, seoyeon heard a faint bye from her roommate.
The car ride wasn’t that long usually but today, it felt shorter than seoyeon remembers, really? It’s just 2pm why is her mother’s driver in a hurry to get her there, didhe hate this much or what.
As they pulled up to the mansion’s opening, all the nerve came back, she doesn’t know why she was here, she just knew her mom needed her to be here, and there will be a dinner later, would it just be the three of them? did they have guests? What was this all about? Is she getting punished for losing her temper on the phone? For having ‘just’ an A not an A plus? She had so many questions that she had no answers for and that made her more anxious but she couldn’t stop hearing yooyeon’s voice in her mind telling her it will be okay. And maybe it will be. Who knows?
Getting out of the car and walking up to the door, every step was nerve wrecking but as she got led by her parent’s workers into her mom’s office, seoyeon wanted to disappear, literally.
But what was surprising was, when she faced her mother after she locked the door behind her the woman looked, relaxed, not mad like she usually did, not upset either, she was chill.
“hi, sweetheart” sweetheart? Yeah something was definitely wrong with this woman standing in front of her and seoyeon didn’t know what to think of it.
“hello?” she was confused and she had all the rights to.
