Chapter 81
Dominic, Woodes, and Lynx have been trying to chat up Monkey D. Luffy for the past 30 minutes but every single time they try they keep on getting interrupted by her crewmate who keep on giving the three of them a look that could make a man’s knees go weak.
But the three of them were drunk, balsey, and didn’t care. They weren’t pirates, just sailors who hadn’t seen land in too long, and the sight of a beautiful, young, and obviously capable pirate captain had their heads spinning with more than just the cheap alcohol. They were like moths to a flame, drawn in by the allure of danger and the thrill of the unknown.
“Come on.” Domicic said, leaning against the bar counter of the bar, they were in. “You got a boyfriend or something?”
Luffy, for her part, was only entertaining them until the Kid pirates showed up. “Yes I do, actually. He’s the prettiest, nicest guy, I know.”
The three sailors snickered, assuming she meant some sort of metrosexual pretty boy who was probably as dangerous as a kitten. They had no idea that the "pretty" and "nice" guy she was talking about was actually The Murder Machine, Killer, the infamous right-hand man of Eustass Kid, feared across the Grand Line for his cold-hearted brutality and lethal skills.
Woodes, the burliest of the three, leaned in closer, his breath reeking of alcohol. "So, this boy toy of yours, where is he? Let us see if he's as pretty as you say," he leered, his eyes roving over Luffy's form with a smarmy grin.
Luffy hummed, her eyes wandering over to TV hanging on the wall behind the bar counter. “He’s on the TV.” She said, pointing at said TV, where it is currently showing a real life, bloody, gut turning massacre.
The three men followed her finger and watched in horror as the screen showed Killer, Luffy’s boyfriend, tearing through a squadron of marines like paper, leaving a trail of carnage in his wake. His blond hair fluttered wildly as he sliced and diced his way through the crowd, occasionally saying fuck it to the swords and literally just crushing marines heads between his massive fucking hands.
“That’s my pookie.” Luffy said casually, leaning one of her elbows on the bar and resting her chin in her hand.
Dominic, Woodes, and Lynx stared slack-jawed at the screen, unable to believe that the monster they were watching was the "pretty" and "nice" guy she had talked about. The bar had gone eerily quiet as the patrons watched the massacre unfold, but the tension was thick as a foggy sea night. The three sailors exchanged glances, their bravado slipping away like sand through their fingers.
“Luffy! You need to stop telling people your ‘Pookie’ is nice!” Zoro groaned as he approached the bar with a grin on his face. Despite the carnage on the TV, he remained unfazed, having seen worse from his captain's boyfriend. “There’s a reason why he’s called a Murder Machine, and The Massacre Soldier! He’s not exactly as sweet as a peach tree, but I can say you were right about him being pretty, he’s quite a looker, even in the middle of a slaughterhouse!” He winked at her.
The three sailors’ jaws dropped even further. Zoro’s nonchalant attitude about Killer’s brutal actions added a layer of intimidation to the already tense atmosphere. They took a collective step back, realizing they had bitten off more than they could chew.
“Oh, he is oh so pretty!” Luffy said dramatically, cupping her face with both hands and batting her eyelashes. “The Massacre Soldier is the prettiest in all the seven seas.”
Her words were met with silence, and the three sailors looked at each other nervously. They had heard of the ruthless Killer, who left trails of destruction in his wake, but they never expected to find themselves in a bar with the notorious pirate's girlfriend, especially not when she talked about him in such a candy-coated way.
Luffy sighed dreamy, swiveling on her barstool to face Zoro. “He said he would bring me some roses today, White roses. And he’s gonna be covered in blood from his massacre, that means the roses are gonna be splattered with it. Just like a scene from a romance novel!”
Zoro rolled his eyes, but couldn’t help but smirk at her. “You two really are something else, aren’t you?”
Sanji, who was serving drinks at the bar, overheard the conversation and chuckled. “White roses with a touch of crimson, the color of love and passion. How utterly poetic, Captain Luffy!” He said, winking at her.
Nami, who had been quietly sipping on her drink at the far end of the bar, couldn’t help but smirk at the trio of sailors. She knew Luffy’s tendency to exaggerate and play along with the misunderstanding. The silent tension in the room was almost palpable, and she couldn’t resist stirring the pot a bit.
“You know, Luffy’s right,” she said, her voice a purr. “Killer is a real sweetheart. He’s always bringing her little trinkets from his raids. Like, oh, I don’t know, the heads of the marines that dare to mess with them.”
The three sailors looked at each other, their earlier confidence evaporating like spilled rum on a hot dock. They hadn’t expected the legendary Murder Machine’s girlfriend to be so... cheerful about his violent tendencies.
