Chapter 1
It was the middle of Highschool freshman year. Temperatures were reaching lows never seen before, and the trees were running out of life, just like Schroeder. He rocks back and forth , waiting on his frozen house stoop for the bus to come. His hair is unkept today , and his eyes have deep shadows underneath them.
Eventually his school bus comes, so he hops on. “Hey Schroeder!” Charlie Brown shouts from the back of the bus. Schroeder lifts up his head up and runs to Charlie. “Hey..what’s up?” Schroeder asks. “Nothing much.. I have to tell you something , though. Come here” Charlie whispers as he gestures for Schroeder to come closer. “What is it?” Schroeder practically shouts. “Shh.. the Van Pelts are hosting a party at theirs tonight, and before you say no, Lucy won’t be there since she’s staying at Violet’s house for a sleepover.” Charlie peeps. “Alright I’ll go, be at my house by 10 and we can walk there together.” Schroeder hisses.
“Alright king. Before we get to classes though…” Charlie offers Schroeder a weed gummy. “Thanks.” He takes it, pops it in his mouth, and for just a small moment, he stops thinking about how much he misses Lucy, and how ever since she’s been gone, he cannot do what brings him joy. Lucy was his gift, his torch, his light that guided him where to go next. Once in 7th grade, a girl told him that she had a crush on him and wanted to date him, but Schroeder ; not wanting to hurt her feelings; did not know what to do. So he told Lucy about it and she kicked that bitches ass. Little roses appear on his cheeks when he thinks about that. Right now though, his face is only red because of the cold weather.
