Chapter 4
Kara was not done.
Oh, no.
Lena Luthor thought she had won, walking away like some victorious queen, leaving behind a shell-shocked newsroom and a flustered, completely overwhelmed Kara Danvers. Calling her mommy and making her blush like a tomato.
But Kara refused to be defeated.
It was just the start.
This was war.
And if Lena wanted to play dirty?
Kara could play even dirtier.
---
Kara waited.
She let Lena think she had won.
Let her bask in her victory for a few hours.
Let her return to L-Corp, feeling smug and powerful.
And then—
Kara struck.
It started with a simple text.
Kara: Hey, baby girl ❤️
Lena, in her office, paused.
She glared at her phone.
Her fingers hovered over the keyboard.
And then—
Lena: Don’t.
Kara: Don’t what, baby girl?
Lena: Kara. 😡
Kara: Lena. My love. My everything. 😇💕
Lena rubbed her temples. She couldn't hate Kara but she knew how to push her buttons.
And then another text came.
Kara: I was just thinking about last night…
Lena stared.
Her heart skipped.
Lena: Oh?
Kara: Yeah… just remembering the way you were begging…
Lena’s breath hitched.
Her mind immediately went places. In their bedroom. Panting, moaning and begging for more.
Lena: Kara, I swear—
And then—
A photo came through.
Lena clicked it.
And froze.
Because it was not what she expected.
It was a picture of her—
From last night.
Sitting at the kitchen table, pouting.
With the caption:
"Please, Kara, just one more bite of cheesecake, I’m begging you—"
Lena screamed.
Her phone almost went flying.
Lena: KARA DANVERS I WILL END YOU—
Kara: Oh, baby girl, you already did last night ❤️
Lena saw red.
She grabbed her coat.
And marched straight to CatCo.
Again.
Fortunately she was a billionaire and her own boss. So she could go to Catco all she wanted.
---
The second Lena stormed through the CatCo bullpen, the employees started whispering.
"Oh god, she’s back."
"Did someone change her lock screen again?!"
"Who angered the dragon this time?!"
Lena ignored them.
She stomped straight to Kara’s desk.
Kara, who was already grinning.
"Oh, hi, baby girl—"
Lena slammed her hands on the desk. "Kara Danvers, you are a menace to society."
"Aww," Kara beamed. "You love me, though."
Lena growled. "Unfortunately."
"Oh, don’t lie," Kara teased. "You adore me. Worship me, even, you did last night."
Lena blushed a bit and narrowed her eyes. "You will pay for this."
"Oh?" Kara tilted her head. "How exactly will you punish me, Miss Luthor?"
Lena stared.
Kara smirked.
And suddenly—
The entire room was silent.
Because this tension?
It was too much.
"OH MY GOD, JUST KISS ALREADY!" Jimmy shouted.
"WE WORK HERE!" Nia added.
"SOME OF US HAVE HEART CONDITIONS!"
Lena and Kara both turned.
And then—
Kara yanked Lena down by the collar and kissed her.
Right there.
In the middle of CatCo.
Again.
And this time?
Kara was the one who won.
The second Kara pulled away, the newsroom exploded.
"OH MY GOD!"
"THEY DID IT AGAIN!"
"SOMEONE CHECK ON JIMMY, HE LOOKS LIKE HE’S GONNA PASS OUT!"
"I CAN’T BELIEVE I WITNESSED HISTORY TWICE."
Lena, meanwhile, was stunned.
Her lips were still tingling.
Her brain was malfunctioning.
And Kara?
Kara looked so damn smug.
"Told you I’d win," she whispered.
Lena narrowed her eyes. "You think this means you won?"
Kara leaned in, voice sultry. "Oh, I know I did."
Lena’s breath hitched.
And that was unacceptable.
Because Lena Luthor never lost.
Ever.
And so—
She grabbed Kara’s wrist.
And dragged her away.
---
The second the elevator doors closed, Lena turned on Kara.
"You’re insufferable," she muttered.
Kara grinned. "But you love me."
Lena crossed her arms. "I tolerate you."
"Lena."
"Kara."
"Admit it. You love me."
"I will do no such thing."
"Lenaaa."
Lena glared. "What?"
And then—
Kara pouted.
Lena froze.
Because Kara’s pout?
It was deadly.
It was unfair.
And the worst part?
Kara didn’t even do it on purpose.
"Please, baby?" Kara whispered, tilting her head. "Just say it once?"
Lena tried to resist.
She really, really did.
But Kara’s big blue eyes?
Her adorable little frown?
Her ridiculously kissable lips?
Lena was doomed.
She sighed. "Fine. I love you."
Kara beamed.
"See? That wasn’t so hard!"
Lena rolled her eyes. "You are an actual nightmare."
"But I’m your nightmare."
Lena groaned. "Unfortunately."
And then—
DING.
The elevator doors opened.
And standing right there?
Was Andrea Rojas.
Holding a coffee.
Blinking.
Staring.
And then—
"Oh for the love of god, can you two stop making out in elevators?!"
Kara and Lena just grinned.
And walked out—hand in hand.
