1st time Ava avoided Bea
When Ava joined the nuns at the OCS Bea didn’t know what to think. She was a Halo Bearer, but she wasn't prepared and she didn't know what to do. She was also dead like 3 days earlier. That meant a lot of extra work for Beatrice on top of taking care of the church and training new nuns.
She wasn’t happy with that but she did as she was told and just pushed through.
One day she woke up to go for a run during sunrise so she could think about stuff when she saw someone creeping in a stairwell.
“Shouldn’t you be sleeping?”
“Oh, hey Beatrice.” Ava looked surprised to see someone awake at 4 am. “What are you doing here?”
“I'm going for a run to clear my head. Why aren’t you asleep?” Bea asked again, looking suspicious. “You’re not running again right?”
“No, of course not” Ava scoffed “Don’t have anywhere to run to anymore. Turns out friends who do illegal stuff are not that good at being real friends.”
“So why are you not in bed?”
“Couldn’t sleep, actually I probably could but I’m scared I’ll wake up and I won’t be able to walk or move anymore” Bea could understand the fear of falling asleep and everything changing around her so she trained her body to last on 3 hours of sleep.
“If you want you can run with me to make sure your legs are working. But I doubt that will change anytime soon.”
“Thank you, that’d be great.”
They went for a run. The next day they also went for a run together. And the next.
It became sort of a routine for them that lasted 4 weeks.
So when one day Ava wasn’t there at 4 am for a run Beatrice became worried. She tried talking to her but Ava started to avoid her. Bea thought that for sure she figured that Beatrice is a lesbian and is now uncomfortable around Beatrice. So Bea started avoiding her as well. She trained Ava but that was their only interaction.
They drifted apart.
2nd time Bea avoided Ava
They were again on speaking terms. As it turned out Ava actually fell asleep which led to oversleeping and was afraid of making Bea angry. Bea rolled her eyes. All that stress for a girl she just met. And for such a stupid reason. Bea couldn’t believe it and luckily she had a mission planned soon so she didn’t need to be near Ava and her idiocy. When she came back though she did not expect to be in this bad of a mood. The next morning she went for a run to think about Ava.
It was the second day of the mission. She was undercover at a bar. Her drink was apple juice but in a whiskey glass. She was supposed to acquire an item from some high on power and Molly, woman. She was obviously pretty, oh who was she kidding. The woman was hot. She had defined biceps and her smile could melt even the toughest people. She reminded Bea of someone but she couldn’t put a finger on it. She was openly flirting with Beatrice who had reciprocated it in order to steal her necklace. But then the woman started kissing her neck, which was surprising at first but then turned out to be quite nice. All of the sudden Bea realized that the woman looked a lot like… Ava. It seemed weird to think about Ava when a woman was literally biting her collarbone so she stored it in her brain to figure out after the mission. She swiped the necklace and before things could get out of hand she excused herself to the bathroom and went to Camila through the back door.
She was thinking about Ava when a gorgeous woman was literally devouring her. That had to mean something. And Beatrice was worried about that, so she promised herself to avoid Ava to give herself a while to figure out what these feelings meant.
3rd time
They were in the Alps after the failed attempt to defeat Adriel. Beatrice had more than enough time to think about her feelings for Ava. And now that Ava knew she was gay she didn’t need to stress whether everybody else knew or not, because only Ava mattered. They both worked at a bar and could afford a small apartment, and there was only one bed. Which shouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that Beatrice was crushing hard on her roommate. During the day it was fine, she could always go for a walk or take an extra shift.
But the nights were stressful. She pretended to fall asleep when she was wide awake just so she could sleep on the couch but then..
“Bea?” Beatrice became still. “What are you doing?”
“I'm going to sleep on the couch. I’m scared I make you feel uncomfortable.”
“That's stupid, come back to bed.”
“Ok.”
Beatrice knew it was best not to argue.
The same thing happened the next few days until Ava was sick of it.
“”Why do you avoid sleeping in the same bed as me? Do I make you uncomfortable?”
“Of course not. I’m scared to make you uncomfortable.”
“Yes, you said that already and I said you have nothing to worry about so that can’t be it.”
“I promise it’s just that. I’m afraid to do something to push you away. Do you remember when we were running together? After you overslept once and were afraid to make me mad? I was worried that you figured out what I am and that grossed you out.”
“Don’t hate what you are, what you are is beautiful and I didn’t could never avoid you just because you’re lesbian. I didn’t want to disturb you.”
“Disturb me?”
“You just looked very peaceful when we ran together. I didn't want to ruin it. And then i figured out that i was falling for you so I started to avoid you”
oh
That was the moment that Ava started to avoid Beatrice.
It went on for two months until Beatrice grasped that she didn't tell Ava that she was in love with her.
One day after work Beatrice and Ava stumbled into each other in the door, and before Ava started to apologise, Bea pulled her upstairs.
“Ava, I don't think you realize why I was avoiding you.”
“Well… I always figured that you didn't like me that much, and I didnt want to be around me. And also that my feelings for you made you uncomfortable somehow.”
“No, that’s not it. Ava, from the moment I met you I knew that you were going to have a big impact on my life. I guess that scared me a lot and paired with the fact that I started to have feelings for you, I didn't know what to do.”
“You could have told me then. We wouldn't need to dance around each other in circles.”
“I guess that’s true. I'm sorry for not talking to you sooner, darling.”
“No problem Boo Bear.”
That was the start of their relationship. It made them both very happy and they both had a new reason to fight. For a better future together.
4th time
The last time they both had to avoid each other. They weren’t allowed to see each other on the day because it might bring bad luck. But what was one day in the face of eternity of bad puns that are actually funny.
“Bea, I take you as the loaf of my life.”
“Ava, I will bea thy wife”
