a quick bite

The air is cold and crisp as a lone figure cut through the city of Gotham. The streets are dimly lit by barely functional streetlights, but the figure keeps their head down, covered by the hood of a dark sweatshirt. The wind doesn't seem to deter the lone person but strangely the wind doesn't seem to affect them at all. If anyone were to look at them at all, it seemed the wind went right through them.

Danny sat down at the BatBurger shop, ignoring the other occupants' stares but noting their hesitance. A trio of lanky teens stare openly at his disheveled appearance before they decide to depart quicky, and he senses the nearby workers anxiety. He would be offended if he wasn't covered in dirt and grime, his ghost half not helping with the decrease in temperature and creepy aura projection onto non liminal beings. He had long been used to the feelings of hesitance and distrust, but it seemed to be amplified by Gotham's reputation. Danny empties out his bags contents before walking to the counter to order. Sitting down, he starts to get to work. Typing quickly, he opens his screen to click on a certain chat room. Quickly typing through several password blockers Danny opens up the room to see the messages Tucker and Sam had left him.

An aroma catches his nose as the male worker walks to him quickly, setting down his meal and rushing back to the mostly empty kitchen. Seems the girl hadn't wanted to deliver it herself. Danny couldn't help but understand her caution. His eyes were an unnatural icy blue and his core unconsciously let out warnings to anyone who was unlucky enough to come close.

Focusing back on the screen Danny lets his shoulders relax as he reads through the information they had sent him. His fellow ghost squad members had been unlucky enough to be stuck in Amity Park, parents unwilling to allow their departure. Danny had been ironically lucky enough to of had parents unconcerned about his whereabouts. Jazz had been more concerned than both Jack and Maddie combined. It wasn't that he didn't love them, or they didn't love him, but their obsession with ghosts had taken priority in their lives. It seemed to of worsened when Jazz had died. Jazz had been somewhat of the center of their weird family and without her, their parents had been driven deeper and deeper into their lives as ghost researchers. That had been a devastating day for Danny. Not only did his big sister die but he also lost Dani, his clone and close friend. They had both died unnecessarily during a GIW attack attempting to protect Danny from a vivisection. It was thanks to Vlad that he had finally escaped the GIW.

Shaking his head, Danny focuses back on the screen when he hears the door open. Quickly glancing up, Danny finds a group of 7 walked in. The youngest seems close in age to himself while the others ranged in ages. He looks back to the screen, but he glances up each time a new voice speaks. The two girls are the first to walk to the counter and order, the shorter blonde girl ordering for the both of them. Next up was the dark-skinned boy followed by what Danny sensed to be a fellow coffee lover. The shortest of the group seemed to only order a salad and was pushed aside quickly by a handsome man with a white streak in his hair. Lastly, the man in the bluebird hoodie ordered, smiling brightly as he waved his card at them before turning to the blushing female worker.

Danny's eyes glance back to his screen, frantically typing back a message for them to open up next specified message day. Groaning, he closes the chat to rub at his face. Thanks to Vlad, he's able to still talk to them through VladTec but he still wishes he could've stayed back home. It was just too risky with the bounty set on his capture. It didn't help that his human half was labeled as a runaway. There were too many factors to him being sent back to Amity Park.

Danny quickly finishes his meal, chowing down on his burger and salad combo, sipping on a soda as he ate. He felt eyes on him, looking up to see the tall man with the white streak in his hair giving him an odd look. Weird, the man wasn't too deterred by his core it seemed. Sending a part of his soul to investigate, the whisp heads the man's way, Danny could feel the man's liminal status. A revenant! How strange, they weren't very common in the human world. Dissipating the wisp, Danny gathers his trash and tosses it into the bin. He grabs his stuff and senses the other man at the other side of the diner get anxious. It's understandable the man is anxious; he can probably feel the Lazarus Pit calm within him. Close proximity can occasionally help revenants with recovery, and it seems the man has only been alive for several years more at best.

Their little group stops across from the room, conversation growing quiet as Danny glances their way. He hasn't seen them glance his way, but he can feel the eyes glance back to him as he looks away. Opening the door to the crisp, chilly air, Danny departs, running into the dark streets of Gotham.
