the batfam hungers

It isn't every day that the pit calms down. Jason can fill the way the fierce and angry attitude almost instantly quiets as him and the Wayne misfits enter the BatBurger. He relaxes a bit, moving his sore muscles and feeling the once sharp pain dull. Dick next to him gives Jason an odd look but only receives a shake of the head in return. He isn't about to tell Dick about the wave of calm he's feeling.

They go about ordering their food, Jason pushing Damian out of the way as he gets ready to berate the poor woman about having only 1 available vegetarian option. He orders and sighs as Dick pulls out Bruce's card, waving it around teasingly. It wasn't like they didn't have their own allowances from the man, but having his actual card was a rarity.

Settling down at the only table large enough for them all, Jason notices a kid about the demon brat's age sitting at the opposite end of the establishment, typing away on a nice, strangely out of place laptop. The kid seems a little on the smaller side with dark black hair hiding his eyes. A dark hood is covering most of his frame, but he notices the hoodie is covered in dirt and grime. The kids got on baggy pants and his possibly once bright red sneakers are spottily smeared in mud. The kid seems to feel Jasons eyes on him and when Jason looks away, he caught the icy blue eyes the kid had, appearing even brighter with the dark circles under them. The kid appeared to be prime adoption bait for Bruce.

He looks up, slightly expecting the kid to be watching him back but the kid is packing up the rest of his meal, rushing to throw away his trash. Jason feels the pit tug towards the boy, naturally wanting to gravitate towards the kid and reach out. Jason feels anxious, his chest begging to talk to the kid, to heal and get answers. He stills as he watches the kid give him a pitying look quickly before glancing at him once more before leaving. Jason doesn't even notice how his entourage has quieted conversations, looking at the boy occasionally as they go between the stranger and Jason. When the kid leaves, the pits call for the boy, but they stay calm, content with the brief proximity.

When the kid leaves, the others turn to Jason with varying curious or concerned expressions as he grabs his chest, processing what the hell just went down. It's Duke that breaks the silence. "His aura was brighter than normal people. He's not a meta but not quite human," he mentions, direct and to the point. Jason nods.

"I felt something-" he starts, but Dick instantly cuts Jason off. "You okay, Jaybird? Did he do anything to you? I mean-yeah, I felt this instant vibe from the kid too as we walked in, but it's a kid!" Jason rolls his eyes. "Demon brat is a kid too, but he still bites and stabs us," he points to Tim. "Replacement especially, pretty sure he got stabbed a few days ago."

Damian crosses his arms, holding his head up high. "Drake survived, it wasn't a killing blow. Father would never allow me to kill again."
