Human Au, Bouncer Adam/jazz singer Alastor

The city skyline was painted in warm, golden tones as the sun began to set, casting a peaceful glow over the bustling streets. Adam stood by the entrance of the club, her tailored suit perfectly fitted and accentuating her features. Her glossy brown hair was styled carefully, each strand in place. The club, Radio Reverie, hummed with life as glasses clinked and jazz melodies filled the air.

Adam's eyes swept over the crowd, searching for someone specific amidst the sea of people. Alastor.

Known as the Radio Dame, Alastor was the star of the night. She exuded vintage glamour in her deep red dress that hugged her figure and shimmered in the low light. Her wavy dark red hair framed her sharp, elegant face and every movement she made was captivating. Intricate beadwork adorned her gown and added to her mesmerizing appearance.

But it wasn't just her looks that caught Adam's attention. It was her voice, a sultry contralto that wrapped around each jazz note and enraptured every listener. As Alastor finished her latest number and made her way to the bar to chat with regulars, Adam's heart beat faster in her chest.

For weeks, Adam had admired Alastor from afar. Despite being confident in her role as the club's bouncer, the idea of approaching someone as dazzling as Alastor made her nerves jangle. What if Alastor found her plain? What if she wasn't good enough for someone so radiant?

Adam let out a nervous sigh and fiddled with the ring on her pinky finger, trying to gather the courage to cross the room. Just as she took a step forward, a voice shattered the tranquil ambiance of the club.

“Alastor, my darling!”

Adam's heart skipped a beat as the voice echoed through the room. Her jaw clenched as she turned to see a man saunter in, his sleek, modern suit glimmering with subtle circuitry patterns. His smug grin and synthetic charm oozed insincerity as he approached Alastor, his hands spread wide as though expecting an embrace.

“Vox,” Alastor greeted, her voice steady but cool. The tension between them was palpable, like two opposing forces ready to clash.

“To what do I owe this... surprise?” she added icily.

“Oh, you know me, doll. Can’t stay away from the best thing to ever happen to me.” His tone dripped with affected sweetness, but Adam didn't miss the flicker of annoyance in Alastor’s eyes or the way her fingers tightened around her glass.

“You mean the best thing you ruined?” Alastor shot back, her smile sharp like a blade.

The exchange sent a pang of anger through Adam’s chest. So this was Alastor's ex? The fucker had cheated on her, then had the nerve to blame her for it. No wonder Alastor seemed so tense and guarded. She had fought tooth and nail to get all her belongings out of Vox's apartment because he refused to hand them over.

“Come on, doll,” Vox said, leaning closer. “You know I didn't mean for things to end that way. Let's not dwell on the past. How about we talk somewhere more... private?”

Alastor stiffened, her professional facade wavering for a moment. “Vox, I believe I've made it clear—” But before she could finish her sentence, Vox grabbed her and forced a kiss on her lips. Alastor struggled against him, trying to break free.

That's when Adam heard a shout.

“Hey!”

Her own voice rang out before she even realized she had shouted. Her heart thumped loudly in her chest as all eyes, including Alastor's, turned towards her. Vox let go of Alastor and narrowed his eyes, scanning her up and down with disdain.

“And who are you supposed to be?” he sneered.

Adam stepped forward, her stance solid and unwavering. “The person who’s telling you to leave her alone.” Her voice was firm and resolute, ready to defend Alastor no matter what.

The room fell silent, the tension thick. Vox's arrogant smirk faltered for a split second before he leaned back, his confidence quickly returning.

"Is that so?" he sneered, his voice dripping with mockery. "And what are you going to do about it?"

Adam didn't hesitate. "Whatever it takes."

Vox let out a sharp, glitchy laugh that grated on Adam's nerves. "You've got guts, I'll give you that." He took a step closer, his hand reaching out to grab her shoulder.

Big mistake.

In one swift movement, Adam twisted out of his grasp and delivered a powerful punch to his jaw. The impact sent Vox stumbling backwards, his polished shoes scuffing against the floor as the crowd erupted in gasps and murmurs.

"You'll regret that," Vox growled through gritted teeth, his anger evident in his distorted voice.

Adam stood her ground, her fists still clenched. "Try me, asshole."

For a moment, it seemed like Vox might retaliate, but the collective stares of the patrons - and a sharp, delighted laugh from Alastor - stopped him. With a huff, Vox adjusted his suit and shot one last glare at Adam before storming out of the club, his skinny form trembling with fury as he went.

The room buzzed with whispers and murmurs, but Adam barely noticed. Her adrenaline was still pumping as she turned to face Alastor, her cheeks flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and pride.

"You didn't have to do that," Alastor said with genuine gratitude in her tone.

Adam sheepishly scratched the back of her neck. "I couldn't just stand by and watch him bother you."

Alastor tilted her head and flashed a soft smile, her crimson lips curling upwards. "Well, aren't you a charming knight in a black and red suit?"

Adam chuckled nervously, not sure how to respond. Before she could think of something to say, Alastor stepped closer, her intoxicating perfume - a mix of roses and smoky undertones - filling Adam's senses.

"Thank you," Alastor murmured, leaning in to lightly kiss Adam's cheek. Her warm lips left a tingling sensation that made Adam's heart race.

"You're my sweet knight," Alastor continued with a playful grin. "We should grab coffee sometime. I'd love to get to know my gallant defender better."

Adam blinked in surprise, her thoughts still reeling from the unexpected turn of events. "I-I would like that," she stammered, a goofy smile spreading across her face.

Alastor let out a musical laugh before turning and walking away, her dress swaying with each graceful step. Adam stood there in a daze as the club gradually returned to its lively atmosphere.

She couldn't believe what had just happened. For weeks, she had thought herself invisible to Alastor, but now she had been given the chance to get to know her better.

As the thrill of the night settled, Adam smirked to herself. Maybe this was the beginning of something beautiful. And she was more than willing to be Alastor's knight, always ready to save her princess no matter what challenges came their way.
