One chance (fluff)
Shiz University was known for its prestige. You either had to have the best grades, a scholarship, or your family was filthy rich. Two students, a couple, they make a unique pairing, one of the two was an academic genius, studious, she was quiet but when she spoke you listened. Her girlfriend on the other hand, she was smart, just not as much she hoped to be. Her parents were rich, but she didn't want to ride on their coattails her whole life, so she and her best friend, ended up with sport scholarships, she was loud and spoke before thinking most the time. It shocked the University when the two became a couple.

Elphaba's pov
"Well hello Miss Elphaba...how's my favourite book nerd doing?" Came the voice from the most annoying person she has ever meet.
"Glinda. Didn't know you knew where the library was, how long did it take you to find it?" She snarked back. Looking up she saw the blonde in all her glory pink dress, blonde curls and all. Her best friend Fiyero next to her. She sighed in annoyance when Glinda didn't take the bait and just sat down next to her as usual, the girl didn't care for boundaries.
"Oh Elphie, when are you going to give me a chance? We'd be perfect together." As usual the cheeky blonde flirted with her, she was relentless, but Elphaba knew the Glinda was just messing with her.
"How about on the 29th?" Glinda lit up like a Christmas tree.
"Yeah for sure..." Glinda's face dropped "It's February, there's only 28 days Elphaba" Elphaba looked at the blonde then towards Fiyero who looked disappointed. Either Glinda was a really good actress or she meant it, the older girl shook her head, no way was the blonde actually serious. She never took anything seriously.
"Glinda..." she was cut off with a higher than normal laugh from the blonde, the practiced mask fell back on.
"Nice one. So you going to come cheer me on Friday? I really think we should get you a short skirt maybe some pom poms I'd like that" Glinda flirted, throwing an arm around Elphaba, who looked at her in confusion. Glinda was a flirt, she flirted with everyone, but looking at the blonde, she could see the slight tightness of her smile, and what looked like hurt in her eyes. She blew it off as nothing.
Smacking the soccer player's arm off shoulder "In your dreams Upland" collecting her books, she let her lips twitch up in a smile before quickly hiding it. She turned to leave, pausing when Glinda called out.
"Oh no in my dreams, you are in a lot less than a skirt" Elphaba could see the smirk and wink without physically looking back at the blonde.
Glinda's pov
Glinda watched Elphaba walk away longingly. Scratching the back of her neck when Fiyero sat down across from her.
"G...you know she doesn't take it seriously when you flirt like that...but it wasn't cool of her to mess with you like that." That's what she loved about Fiyero, he was always there, he's known that she has been in love with her Elphie for a while now, but he didn't like her flirting methods, and he was honest about that.
"I..I just, what if I ask her properly and she still rejects me Fi, it's better to pretend not to care" she had meant to continue but was interrupted.
"Glinda, I watched your face when she said yes, you lit up and then when she said no your face dropped. It's too late, you already care, I think she's into you as well, but you've got to convince her your serious, for all she knows, you're playing the field, in both aspects" he finished with a raised eyebrow. "Look I know you find it difficult to drop the act and be vulnerable but with someone like Elphaba, you're going to have to." She knew he was right. But she was terrified. Squeezing his hand, she stood up.
"Let's go to practice" and with that their conversation ended.
Even during practice she couldn't stop thinking about Elphaba. Fiyero was right, but what was she going to do to show the girl how serious she was. She stayed long after practice, running solo drills, Fiyero tried to stay but she shrugged him off with a small smile.
She imagined their first date so clearly, she'd pick up Elphaba from her dorm, take her to the grand library where she would buy Elphaba any book she desired, outside of Shiz, she deserved better than the small one they had in the University. They'd have dinner at a small vegan restaurant, share a glass of wine maybe if they were both interested. And then she'd ask Fiyero to set up a small desert picnic on the soccer field where they can see the stars. Glinda knows its cheesy but sometimes cheesy is good she thought. Finally packing her gear away, she nodded to herself, feeling a surge of confidence, she headed in the direction of Elphaba's dormitory.
Knocking gently but loud enough to be heard, she was shocked when the door opened quickly. She was met with a bright shout.
"Ahhh oh my Oz you're Glinda Upland in my dorm oh my, what can I do for you?" She had no idea who this was.
She cleared her throat "uhh I'm actually looking for Elphaba Thropp is she here?" The girl looked taken aback, before leaving the door open shouting for Elphaba.
Glinda grew breathless, Elphaba was in a towel, literally stepping out of the shower, hair in a messy bun, allowing her neck to show, all Glinda wished to do was run her lips down drawing the most gorgeous sounds from the older girl, her thoughts were brought to her halt when Elphaba clicked her fingers in front of her.
"GLINDA..what are you doing here?" She asked incredulously. Clearing her throat again, she fidgeted.
"You know I've been thinking, actually Fiyero was thinking..."
"Wow how'd it feel?" Elphaba interrupted. Glinda frowned.
"Please Elphaba I'm serious" she blew out a breath when Elphaba nodded. "Look I know you think I'm some spoilt rich brat, that's plays soccer because Momsie and Popsicical paid them but I didn't. I work hard, at everything Elphie, I'm spoilt yes, I'm a flirt yes, but the only person I have wanted to flirt back is you. I am serious when I compliment you. The banter is fun to me, even if it may annoy you. Fiyero told me I had to be honest about it properly for you to get it so..." only now cringing at her word vomit. Oh well she's gotten this far. "I really like you, like alot. When you give me an ounce of your attention it feels like a high, and I never want to come down from. And I'd really like to take you out on a date if you'd let me, an honest one, on the weekend after my match. Please." The blonde felt a little pathetic, as she thought she sounded like she was begging, but if Elphaba says yes then not so pathetic. She watched in silence as she didn't respond. After a minute Glinda went to walk away she took one step.
"Wait...you're serious?" Elphaba questioned hesitantly.
"Very. Just one chance is all I'm asking Elphie" Elphaba looked at her searching for any signs of deceit, she didn't find any only nervs.
"You're nervous. Okay. One date. Let's do it. When?" Glinda didn't even stop the squeal she let, bouncing in the spot.
"Yessss, you are not going to regret this I promise" She smiled brighter when Elphaba laughed, probably at her but hey she doesn't mind looking silly in front of her. She went to hug the girl only to be stopped by a hand on her chest.
"Ugh no Miss Upland, you're all sweaty" Glinda winced now looking down at herself 'Oz I really asked her out looking like this?'
"Sorry, I should have cleaned myself up" embarrassed.
"It's okay I've seen you play, you look fine" And Glinda really thought she'd pass out by the smile that Elphaba gave her.
"Well how about Friday? After the game, I'll shower and we can go" Glinda stated uncertain. Elphaba nodded.
"Goodnight Glinda" and Glinda's world stopped when Elphaba kissed her cheek. She pressed her hand up and felt it burning, her face hurt from the smile she had stretched across her face.
"Goodnight Elphie" only then once the door shut Glinda let herself bounce around squealing down the hallway, only for residents to tell her to shut up, no matter she was in a too good of a mood.
Friday came, Elphaba went to Glinda's game. Smiling when the blonde scored, then shot her a wink whilst making a heart with her hands. Laughing when Fiyero slapped her gently obviously scolding the blonde to concentrate. They won.
Elphaba waited for Glinda to finish up in the shower. Fiyero was keeping her company.
"You know she really cares for you" he said. The brunette looked up at him, his face oddly serious. "She doesn't open up much, her and I have always had alot to prove to our parents and ourselves. Point is I've never seen her this excited or this in awe of someone. I know she comes off flighty and cocky, but you...you she wants to be real with." Elphaba paid close attention, she didn't realise how much Glinda liked her. "So please be gentle with her, she has no clue what she's doing" he finished, with a soft hand on her shoulder.
"You guys are really close huh? I won't hurt her I'm excited for this I'm just a little cautious with this type of thing." Fiyero nodded understanding.
"She's like my little sister. And it's okay to be cautious you can both learn together" they smiled. Elphaba was about to ask him how long Glinda actually takes because she's been in there awhile as she opened her mouth, the said blonde came saunting out. Pale yellow dress, her hair down in gently curls, wedged heels to complete the look. Elphaba herself was wearing a black fitting dress the finished just below the knees and some nice ballet flat type shoes.
"I hope he hasn't been to much of a hassle" she said before looking Elphaba up and down taking her in. "You look beautiful." Fiyero gasped in faux offence. Elphaba laughed.
"He's been fine. Thank you, you look lovely Glinda" she was rewarded with a beaming smile.
"Well now your date has arrived I will leave you two be, remember wear protection" Glinda flipped him off as he walked away.
"Shall we?"
"We shall."
The two linked arms, thus beginning the start of their relationship.
Present
Which brings them to now, Glinda is on the field warming up with Fiyero, it was biggest game of the season and Elphaba was sitting in the grandstand, where she had the perfect view of the blonde. She wasn't aware of how cold it was until she got there. She sat on her hands to try and warm them up, smiling when Glinda looked up at her. She couldn't help but think about how far they've come as a couple. Dates were always fun even if they layed around doing nothing. Glinda supported all her academics, even going as far to brag to everyone and she means everyone about her grades, never failing to make blush. Glinda dedicated every goal she shot to her, with a wink and hand heart. And Elphaba showed up to every match and most training sessions she could. And the sex, Elphaba had no complaints, Glinda truly was amazing. She was brought out of her thoughts when a cold chill washed over her.
Glinda must have noticed because she came running, stopping at her sports bag, grabbing something running up the stands to Elphaba.
"Cold baby?" Kissing her cheek. Elphaba nodded. Glinda brought up her hoodie over her head tucking her arms through the sleeves. "There we go, you stay warm darling, if you get too cold I've another one in my bag actually I'll grab it now." Elphaba stopped her girlfriend from running down laughing she pulled her in for a kiss.
"Baby I'm fine this will do relax" Glinda kissed her again, trying to deepen it.
"UPLAND. FIELD. NOW" Her eyes widened at the sound of her coach yelling. Muttering their I love you's, Glinda winked at her and ran off, her team-mates teasing her as she flushed brightly under their scrutiny. And Elphaba just watched with a large smile.
