Deserving (hurt/comfort, fluff)
"Fiyero, you can't be serious, you two don't even have anything in common" Glinda exclaimed, throwing her arms all over the place.
"And you do?" The man in question responded, eyebrow raised.
"Don't be stupid. Of course I don't. I just know that I can be the one she wants and needs...I can.."
"Do you remember how you treated her Glinda? Do you even care? Have you ever apologised?" He said, halting the blonde. She stood back as if she had been struck, breathing heavily. "I never have done what you have, be honest with yourself Glinda for once in your life you dont deserve her." His words aimed to hurt, she knew it, but it didn't ease the sting.
"Oz Fiyero of course I don't deserve her, I'm not that deluded. But I am working on it. She means everything to me, you can't just waltz in on your high horse and claim her. She's not someone to claim" she hissed back. She knew the truth. She knew that Elphie deserved better than her, better then them both. But she if she didn't get to be her, why should Fiyero, he wasn't the right person.
"You think I don't know that it was your fault at the Ozdust, that it was your fault she was humiliated, just because you joined that silly little dance means nothing, you..." his eyes were blazing as her towered over the blonde, but she held herself high. He opened his mouth to continue.
"WHAT IS GOING ON HERE??" They both looked over at the girl their argument was about, she did not look happy. "Well? Don't all talk at once?" She snapped. Eyeing Fiyero, she than tried to meet eyes with Glinda who seemed adamant to avoid her.
"Glinda?" Nothing.
"Fiyero?" He opened his mouth.
"We were just talking about the Ozdust, about how you both became friends, Glinda here was just going to tell me how she apologised to you" his voice smug as he looked over at blonde who had shrunk into herself.
"She didn't have to apologise, she did more than that" Glinda's head shot up, looking at Elphaba questionly, she only smiled softly at her.
"How? Joining that little dance thing? Come on Elphaba she was saving her own ass" Elphaba only looked at him in disdain. She shook her head.
"What even started this? You two have argued, but this is borderline hate" her voice now careful.
"Glinda? You haven't said anything. I want to hear from you." The blonde remained quiet freezing when Fiyero mumbled under his breath.
"Coward"
SMACK
His cheek burned, his mouth dropped open, he looked at Elphaba in shock.
"You slapped me."
"You deserved it, come on Glinda" she said nonchalantly.
They walked away, hearing Fiyero's protests.
"YOU DON'T DESERVE HER GLINDA" Elphaba looked at the blonde walking next to her, who had tears running down her cheeks, trying and failing to hide it.
The two made their way back to the dorms in silence, the older girl walking just ahead of the other. Reaching their dorm, she opened it letting blonde in first. It was silent till Glinda threw her bag down, letting out a sob she tried to stifle.
"Glin?" Emerald arms wrapped around the blonde, lifting her up and carrying her towards the blonde's pink bed. She knew she wasn't going to get an answer out of just yet, so she rubbed soothing circles on her back, hoping it helps somewhat.
It was another 5 minutes later when Glinda's sobs lessened into quiet sniffles, Elphaba reached over and handed her some tissues and water. After a minute Glinda hopped of Elphaba's lap.
"Thanks Elphie." She tried to smile, her voice croaky.
"What happened Glinda?" Her voice soft but left no room to avoid an answer.
"He's right you know. I don't deserve you, not even as a friend, I haven't apologised either...Oz I'm a horrible wicked person" she sat down head in her hands.
"You're not Glinda you're my best friend and I don't need a formal apology I..."
"But you deserve one" she interuppted.
"Sure. But, you did apologise, you haven't left my side since Ozdust, you've shut people down when they say or do something slightly insulting. You stop it. And with the things I've told you about my family, you've stayed and have held me when I do break a little. That means more to me then some words Glinda Upland." Glinda watched with rapt attention, brown eyes never leaving green, it was like Elphaba was trying to shoot the words into her so she understood.
"And what's this lunacy that I hear about not deserving me? I choose that Glinda, not you and definitely not Fiyero but me...I do. So my opinion is the only one that matters" Glinda's eyebrows rose, at the haughty tone of the green girl in front of her. She put her hands as if in surrender as they both froze...before breaking out in a quiet laugh.
"You do deserve me as a friend Glinda, don't list to Fiyero" the blonde let a small smile before it dimmed, she took a few deep breaths, worrying the older girl.
"Glinda?"
"What about as more than a friend? Do I deserve a chance at a date or can I work to deserve a date?" The words rushed out, but Elphaba heard it all.
She grinned brightly before resting a hand on Glinda's cheek, guiding her face to her's Elphaba leaned in, Glinda's breath hitched before she could say anything, green lips met pink, in the softest kiss the blonde has ever felt, smiling widely she pulled away, giggling when Elphaba tried to follow.
"So that date?" A pink tinge coated pale cheeks.
"Better make it a good one Upland" a cheeky response. The two both tired from the days events, layed down under the covers of pink, Glinda pulled Elphaba into her in a tight grip. Elphaba was almost asleep when she heard Glinda mutter something about stupid Fiyero, she decided to deal with that tomorrow.
