Roland wonders if Angela realizes how horrific her existence-the existence of any of the librarians and patrons-would be to any other denizen of the City, any other human. Even the patrons, with no daemons besides them, would be little different from a Sweeper or an amalgamation of flesh or an Abnormality mimicking a person...or his wife.
For a long time he'd just assumed she was like him, Augilny safely hidden in his pocket, keeping her safe from weapons and touches and identification-maybe something smaller-or that she was like old Iori, able to let her daemon go out and scout for her.
