Chapter 8
After hearing the explanation, Luna and Daphne sat back in shock.
"So you are Harry Potter and Hermione Granger?" Daphne said to clarify.
"We used to be." Speedwing said. "But we're not human anymore, and I'm not even male now."
"I'm sorry." Luna said looking out the window as the train moved along after the dementors were gone, though Daphne and Luna are the only ones that know how. Though a Professor Lupin did check in on them, it was only briefly, and not seeing the dementors, and that Luna and Daphne were fine(not knowing it was because of the positive emotion LightScale and Speedwing, who he did not see, were emitting) thought the dementors had not reached that area before disappearing., and so left immediately. "Because I wanted to keep you close you lost your gender."
"Don't worry." Speedwing said. "It is far better then my life before."
"Plus we imprinted on you." Lightscale added. "While it doesn't force us to stay with you it does let us sense your emotions, and know that you care about us more then our families."
"Their either abusive in my case," Speedwing said. "Or neglectful in Lightscale's case."
"Thanks." Luna said.
"So do you want us to tell people what happened to you, and clear your name?" Daphne asked, causing Lightscale and Speedwing to look at each other before looking back at them.
"No." Speedwing said. "We don't care what they think of us."
"Just what the two of you think of us." Lightscale added. "You two are our best friends. If you'll still have us."
"Of course." They agreed.
"Besides." Speedwing added. "If we do reveal it, you would have to explain why I am a girl now. As a fire lizard the difference isn't that great, but if we change back to human it would be."
Luna and Daphne paled at that knowing they would get in trouble for it, and agreed to keep it secret and treat them the same, as they arrived at Hogwarts and left the train with Lightscale, and Speedwing at their smallest size, and hiding in Luna's hair like normal.
