Chapter 4
Luna, Daphne, Speedwing, and Lightscale were in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom on the 29th having just finished the gender changing potion.
“Alright, Speedwing.” Luna said holding the potion up to him. “This will turn you into a girl so you can stay with me.”
Speedwing knew this and drunk the potion glowing before turning into a girl(not that it was noticeable other then a slight change in voice and a change of equipment)
“How do you feel?” Lightscale asked.
“Weird.” Speedwing responded. “I know I’m a girl now, but I don’t feel different, which weirds me out.”
“Well, Fire Lizards are extremely similar physically.” Lightscale said.
“True.” Speedwing replied, before they started to fly back to Luna’s shoulders only to freeze when they heard a voice.
“So hungry, master gone, must feed.” The voice said as Speedwing and Lightscale turned to the sink and started hissing while broadcasting fear and a desire to protect to Luna, who backed to the corner while dragging Daphne with her.
“What is it?” Daphne asked before the sink opened into a tunnel.
After a few minutes with nothing coming out, Luna spoke up.
“Is it safe?” She asked, causing Lightscale and Speedwing to fly over the tunnel and look down into the darkness, only to see something rush at them, causing them to go between as…
SNAP!!! went a giant mouth closing hard around where they were.
Luckily it was big, but facing the wrong way, to kill Luna and Daphne however the color and size of the giant snake easily identified it as a Basilisk, and close their eyes.
“A basilisk.” Luna muttered in fear as the Basilisk turned towards them, and savored their fear. “What do we do?”
“I don’t know.” Daphne said. “Looking in its eyes is fatal, and all the roosters whose crow could kill it are dead. The only other thing that could work is the special potion my dad keeps in a pit in the basement for enemies. It is made of many different potions mixed together resulting in a potion that is lethal if swallowed, and has random effects on those who get covered in it. But even if we had it how could we get it to drink the potion, some of the effects could help it.”
Lightscale and Speedwing looked at each other before closing their eyes and using their extra senses to find the Basilisk's eyes and burn them before it could kill them, possible due to the eyes being less fire resistant then the body.
“My eyes! I can’t see. The basilisk cried angrily before using its other senses to find Lightscale and Speedwing and attack them in anger, while ignoring Luna and Daphne.
The battle as it was involved the basilisk sensing and attacking them, while they went between to dodge, and used fire to counterattack. Their claws and teeth not strong enough to do any damage through the hide. They were slowly, but surely losing to the Basilisk , but were determined to protect Luna and Daphne.
“How do we beat this thing?” Speedwing asked.
“Without a rooster, or the potion Daphne mentioned. I don’t think we can." Lightscale responded. “The basilisk is to giant.”
This caused them to remember a story from their history extra studies about how a potion maker killed a giant with a potion, and an impervious charm, which they had recently learned from a grade 3 spell book.
“This is going to suck.” They said as they used a picture Daphne had shown them of their house to go their between, then went between to the basement, and found the potion which they dove in, before going between to return just as the basilisk gave up looking for them and went to attack Luna and Daphne, only for Lightscale and Speedwing to fly into its mouth, avoiding the teeth, down its throat, and into its stomach.
Once there they cast the impervious charm on themselves causing the potion to slide off them, and into the stomach acid, which also could not hurt them anymore. This caused the basilisk to convulse, knocking them around so much they couldn’t go between, and ended up tangled with each other in the stomach as the basilisk literally melted around them, leaving Speedwing and Lightscale unharmed thanks to the impervious charm(though they did have side effects from having the potion for so long before dropping it in the stomach), as Luna and Daphne approached them, and the sink closed leaving no evidence of what had happened.
“No one will believe this.” Daphne muttered.
“Then we don’t tell them.” Luna said, as she picked up Lightscale and Speedwing and took them to get some rest.
