Regina George
Caitlyn leads Vi from the hallway and into her room, leaving her school bag on the floor and throwing herself on the bed, followed by Vi, who takes her red jacket off first.
“So, what made you move schools?” Caitlyn asks as she grabs her laptop.
“Um, I was in public school before and I got in on a scholarship with my grades.” She replies.
“Wow, what are you, some kind of nerd?” Caitlyn teases. Vi rolls her eyes in response.
“Well, I’m particularly good at chemistry and maths. Not so much in social sciences and english though.”
“Hmm. I’m the opposite actually, I suck at science.”
“Maybe we can help each other out then, cupcake.” Vi replies, her lip slightly curving upwards on the side.
“Why do you keep calling me that?” Caitlyn laughs nervously.
“Because you’re so sweet. Like a cupcake.” Vi’s cheeks begin to blush slightly.
They begin watching the movie and Caitlyn almost can’t focus. She feels electrified even being near Vi, their faces so close, hearing Vi’s breathing, bodies almost touching…
Caitlyn has always known that she likes girls. Ever since she was little she had minor crushes here and there, but she never found herself feeling such intense things for someone she just met. Even though she’s so nervous, Vi’s presence is extremely warm. She’s completely drawn to and enchanted by her.
Vi shifts her position next to Caitlyn, and she feels the lower half of Vi’s leg softly fall atop hers. At first it feels like an accidental contact, but Vi rests her leg there and continues watching the movie as if nothing happened. The skin-to-skin contact sends shivers through Caitlyn’s spine, like there’s an electric static right where their shins are touching. Caitlyn’s cheeks become a deep scarlet as she mentally pleads for her to pull it together. The silence between them is killing her and she becomes increasingly restless as the movie plays on. Finally, she decides to break the silence.
“So, who do you think is the hottest?” Caitlyn asks.
“Hmm. I don’t know yet. I wanna know who you think is hottest.” She replies playfully.
“What? That’s not fair I asked you first.”
“Come onnnn,” Vi pleads with puppy eyes, “I wanna know yours.” Caitlyn rolls her eyes at her and sighs dramatically.
“Okay… probably Janis.”
“Oh reaaaallyyyy. Do you have a thing for emos?” Vi teases, making Caitlyn swat her shoulder playfully. Caitlyn can’t help but notice Vi’s defined shoulders with her jacket off.
“Stop it. Your turn.”
“Oh, definitely Ms. Norbury.”
“Ugh, I’m serious Vi.” Caitlyn laughs
“Fine, I’m sorry. I like Regina George.” Vi shrugs
“Hmm. Interesting.” Replies Caitlyn, squinting her eyes at Vi sarcastically.
“What can I say? I like ‘em a little feisty.”
“Okay, I will admit I kind of have a crush on her as well.” She says, turning back to the laptop.
Thirty minutes and a bucket of popcorn later Vi convinces Caitlyn to let her stay over on Saturday and have a 2000s rom com movie marathon, including but not limited to; She's the Man, Wild Child and Imagine Me and You (Vi's picks) and 10 Things I Hate About You, D.E.B.S. and Clueless (Caitlyn's picks).
When the movie ends and Vi eventually leaves, the only thing Caitlyn can think of is that girl. She fantasises about the feeling of Vi’s soft lips against hers, their bodies pressed together, the feel of those defined muscles under her fingers. Caitlyn almost feels guilty for thinking of Vi in such an obscene way without her permission. But, at the same time she prayed that Vi could read her mind and bring those thoughts to reality.
