Slumber Party Kissing
Saturday morning rolls around and Caitlyn has changed the sheets on her bed three times. As she frantically reorganises her room over and over again the sheer anticipation of being in her room, home alone with Vi on her bed all night is driving her mad. She tried to talk it over with her friend Jayce during the week but the more she spoke about it out loud the more confused she became about how she should interpret Vi's behaviour towards her. Does she just have a flirty personality? Or is she interested? She's definitely gay but what if she's just not attracted to Caitlyn? How does she find that out?
Right as Caitlyn is finishing in the kitchen she hears a knock on the door. When she opens it she sees Vi, wearing the red jacket she complimented when they met, a black fitted tank top, washed out black jeans and black combat boots. She is also holding a skateboard, and when Caitlyn looks up at her face she notices that Vi is red-faced and panting.
“Wow, I didn't know you skated.” Caitlyn states.
“Actually, not really, no. My sister's boyfriend is trying to teach me but I'm not very good at it.” Caitlyn's eyebrows furrow from confusion.
“Oh, okay. But then why did you skate all the way to my house?”
“Well, because I thought I would look really cool if I showed up here with a skateboard so I could pretend I'm a sexy skater, but now I just regret it.” Replies Vi with a shrug. Part of her response makes Caitlyn's heart jump. Is Vi trying to look sexy for her?
“Um… alright then,” Caitlyn laughs nervously, “just leave the skateboard at the door.”
When they make it up to the room Vi immediately goes to the bed as Caitlyn uses her phone to put music on her speaker. She secretly hopes that a bit of Lana Del Rey and girl in red will set the mood a little bit.
“Hey, I've got to go downstairs to get something out of the oven, just stay here.” Caitlyn tells Vi.
“Okay, cool. What are you making?” She asks.
Caitlyn stops in her tracks at the doorway and almost winces as she turns to reply.
“Cupcakes…” She says shyly.
Vi's face immediately lights up and can't hold down her chuckles.
“Cupcakes?! Just for me, Cupcake? Wow, today must be my special day.” Vi teases.
“Ugh, shut up please.” Caitlyn rolls her eyes as she tries to contain her smile.
Caitlyn takes the cupcakes out of the oven and puts them in the fridge to chill. She finishes cleaning up the kitchen and as she walks back up the stairs she notices Vi's voice in harmony with the music playing in her room. Caitlyn opens the door and there she was; laying down, eyes closed, singing along to West Coast by Lana. Caitlyn notes how unexpectedly good Vi's voice is, perfectly in tune. When Vi realises that Caitlyn is watching her she stops singing abruptly and sits up with her eyes wide and cheeks pink from embarrassment.
"Damn, Vi. You sing really well.” Says Caitlyn, sitting down next to her.
“Yeah, um, thanks.” Vi replies nervously, running a hand through her hair and avoiding Caitlyn's eyes.
“Come on! Sing more, it was really nice.”
Vi takes a deep breath before continuing the lyrics.
“On the balcony and I'm singin, ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in lo-” She interrupts herself with a laugh and looks away shyly, “Ugh, I can't just sing while you're watching me!” Vi throws herself back onto the bed and her face takes on a deep scarlet colour.
“You know you didn't have to come here with the skateboard, you should've just sung to look sexy.” Caitlyn says without thinking. Vi props herself up on her elbows and looks at Caitlyn inquisitively.
“You think I look sexy?” She says with the corner of her lips curving upwards. Now it was Caitlyn's turn to blush profusely.
“Um…” Caitlyn scrambles for her laptop and pulls herself back to lean on her pillows. “So we're watching She's the Man right?”
“Uhuh, yeah.” Replies Vi, with an entertained look on her face.
During the hour and forty-five minutes of the movie, Caitlyn tries to focus on the computer screen, but she always gets the feeling that Vi is looking at her. She can feel Vi's eyes on her, but every time Caitlyn turns to look, Vi's gaze retreats back to the screen. She tries not to stare constantly at Vi, but she can't resist memorising every detail on her face. Caitlyn's eyes trace the soft freckles on her cheeks, the scars on her upper lip and on her eyebrow, her nose ring. But every time Vi laughs or makes a comment, Caitlyn snaps back to reality and tries to return her attention to the movie.
When the movie ends Vi finally breaks the silence.
“So, do you see why She's the Man is a masterpiece?”
“Don't get ahead of yourself, it's good but it's no Mean Girls.” Caitlyn replies.
“Ugh I can't believe it. You're disrespecting Channing Tatum.”
Caitlyn retreats downstairs to quickly frost the nine cupcakes she made to bring back up to the room, as Vi had been complaining how hungry she was all throughout the movie. Caitlyn is still anxious with the uncertainty of whether anything was going to happen tonight, even though they had only just made it through the first movie. She is terrified of getting the wrong impression from Vi and just embarrassing herself.
“You should've let me help you frost those at least.” Says Vi when Caitlyn returns.
“No, no way. I can't work with other people in the kitchen, I get too frustrated. I wasn't planning on letting you see that side of me yet.” She jokes.
The cupcakes are red velvet with a soft white icing. Vi immediately grabs a cupcake and takes a huge bite out of it, making her nose dive into the mountain of icing. When she takes the cupcake away from her face her nose is covered with icing. Caitlyn can't contain her giggles.
“What? What's wrong?” Vi asks cluelessly.
“Mmm… It's just, uh, you got-” Caitlyn stutters through her laughs. She reaches over to Vi's face and wipes her nose with her thumb and Vi is completely frozen. Caitlyn doesn't break eye contact as she sucks the leftover icing off her thumb, and Vi's cheeks become bright red. Caitlyn no longer cares about impressions, the only thing she can look at is Vi's lips, and quite frankly the only thing she can think about is kissing them.
Vi beats her to the chase by grabbing Caitlyn's neck and closing the difference between them, softly kissing her. Caitlyn feels a rush across her whole body and her heart is beating a thousand miles an hour from exhilaration. Caitlyn pulls Vi closer, bringing their bodies closer together and slightly deepening the kiss. It's slow and soft, yet completely intoxicating, breathing Vi's air and tasting her lips.
When they pull away they're both breathless, as if they had been kissing for an hour. Caitlyn feels as if she could stare into those blue eyes forever, and the small, genuine smile creeping on Vi's lips is enough to make her melt.
“Um, I should probably go take a shower. Do you have a towel I can borrow?” Vi asks.
“Oh, yep. Sure.”
When Vi leaves, Caitlyn flops down on her bed in disbelief. Vi just kissed her. Her mind is bouncing off the walls with excitement.
She freezes up, however, when she remembers the fact that Vi is currently in her shower with no clothes on. She immediately tries to chase off those thoughts as they come, but her curiosity has spiked. Caitlyn has kissed a few girls in her life playing spin the bottle or kissing a random girl she hit it off with while tipsy at a party, but she never had the opportunity to do more. She hadn't even been in a proper relationship before. Is tonight an opportunity? More confusing thoughts pop up in her head as she grows anxious waiting for Vi to leave the shower. Caitlyn decides to quickly throw on her navy satin pajamas before she comes back.
