Wolf moon

Zoro was not lost, they knew exactly where they were… even if the place was different than the last time she'd been by. It was the old Moria place, which had been empty for years. Zoro couldn't remember how long, but Perona had begged Mihawk to buy the place for her but he had refused. She did know that someone else tried to take it over for a bit before they too abandoned the place. She had run down from the pack house to meet up with Luffy and his vampire mate Law at Zeff's for breakfast and somehow .

Zoro recognized Franky's handiwork on the place: the flower boxes had green shoots popping out of the ground, there was a small dock by the lake, a swing on the tree, there was ivy and vines growing on what was now a cottage. It looked cozy, but more than that there was a tantalizing scent in the air.

Old blood; tobacco, barely noticeable, rose the scent of beach bonfire; skin anointed with sticky citrus char; the scent of sea salt coating moon-kissed skin. Zoro's wolf whined and clawed at its restraints, begging her to hunt the source down.

Waste my time pretending it's fine

I'll give you my soul to keep

Take my heart to tear it apart

And bury me six feet deep

You don’t wanna let me rest in peace

All the things you said still are haunting me

Should let this die, but I’m weak

Wrapped around your finger even though you’re dead to me.

Zoro growled as Law’s ringtone distracted her, there were only a few reasons why Law would call. “What do you want, Luff?” Zoro answered the phone. One of which would be if Luffy lost or broke his phone again. He was the future Alpha of their wolf pack, and she was his beta.

Werewolf structure was vastly different than wild wolves, humans craved structure. Most of the wolves weren't related. Zoro had no living relatives left, so Luffy and the pack had become their family, which was true for a lot of the werewolf packs. The only other person she had that came close was an old vampire who Zoro had declared their greatest rival.

“Zorooo, where are you? Did Zoro get lost again?” Luffy whined before he laughed.

“I'm not lost! I know exactly where I am,.” Zoro shouted as she began to run towards town, following the fresh cobblestone path. “I'll be there shortly.” Zoro hung up and left the new scent behind much to her wolf's dismay. Zoro consoled her wolf with the idea of asking around town if anyone knew who the new person was.

Law sat at a booth with Luffy waiting for the lost green wolf to arrive. Luffy was whining beside him with a pout on his face.

“I'm hungry,” he moaned.

“You're always hungry.” Law was irritated; he was supposed to be crawling into bed and sleeping the day away.

“Is that broccoli headed wolf still not here?” a gruff voice grumbled. Law glanced up at the old were-goat who owned this establishment. Red-leg Zeff had asked him to come, saying he had a surprise for him. “This is the surprise I had for you.” Zeff handed him a new looking menu, roughly the size of the blood and wine menus.

Law took one look at it and stopped when he saw. “Bloody onigiri!?” It had been so long since he last had his favorite food. “How is this possible?” Luffy peered over his menu, curious. “I'll have that and a glass of 1984 B+.”

“My daughter was a chef before she was turned. She said something about blood being used as a substitute for eggs in baking.” Zeff shrugged. “This is her first vampire-friendly menu. Eggplant gave me her word that she's tried every dish on it and successfully kept it down. Told her I'd kick her ass back to the city if one customer projectile vomits in my restaurant because of her. Now, Meatball, what ridiculous order do you want?”

“I want a ham, meatloaf, a whole chicken and 5 16 oz steaks!” Luffy ordered. He didn't need to say how he wanted the steak done; every wolf got it done blue, and cooked as little as was legal. “Zoro's usual!”

“All right.” Zeff left them.

Law couldn't believe he'd finally be able to eat his favorite food… or any food for that matter. He had not realized he actually missed food until the thought of actually having it was presented to him. Honestly, it was a good thing Luffy wasn't a vampire, his black-haired wolf was food obsessed, especially meat.

They fell into a comfortable silence after that When Luffy's impatience was truly starting to get intolerable, Zoro finally came through the door. The sooner they finished the sooner he could crawl Into bed, if it had been a rough at the clinic he wouldn't be here.

Zoro! What took you so long?” Luffy whined, reaching across the table for his future beta. His pout was far too adorable for Law to admit. Luffy was like the sun- so bright he burned but you couldn't resist him.

“Got distracted, someone new moved into the old Moria place. Franky fixed it up really good, can hardly tell it was abandoned to the ghost that haunts it.” Zoro spoke, sliding into the booth across from them.

“Wait, really?!” Luffy asked, ignoring the fact that Zoro shouldn't have been by the old Moria place if she hadn't gotten lost.

Law tuned out their chatter, sipping on his glass of blood, B+ had been his blood type before his death and then resurrection. Every vampire craved the blood type they had before death. Other blood was good, but it didn't quite hit the spot in the same way. Far as he could tell vampires still had some of the antigens in their veins and when they drank the right blood type it was as close to being alive again as a vampire could get especially if it was fresh but they rarely drank from living humans unless it was during sex or an emergency. While Luffy's blood could taste a little odd due to him being a werewolf, they had the same blood type.

“Here mushroom, eat up.” Zeff's voice interrupted his musing. In front of him were three pink onigiri triangles. He could smell the blood wafting from them. “Try it.” The goat's gruff voice encouraged.

Law took a tentative bite, he really wasn't in the mood to projectile vomit across the table. But the moment the rice hit his tongue nothing happened. Nothing except his taste buds awaking for the first since his death. “Mmmm.” He couldn't stop the moan or the bloody tears streaking down his cheeks as he once again got to eat his favorite food. The rice was warm and a little sticky, he could taste the blood in the rice and in the filling. Why, it went so well with the spicy mayo and tuna he'd never question it.

“Good?” Zeff asked, he must care about his daughter to serve this meal himself and to stick around after to hear his thoughts.

“Excellent.” Law quickly finished the one in his hand before reaching for the other two before Luffy got into his head to try it for himself. Between Dracul Miwhak inventing a way to age blood like wine and now being able to eat food, being a vampire wasn't so bad after all.
