Dragon Danny- At Camp

A gruff chuffing sound, like a satisfied giant tiger, surprised him. He turned around, and caught sight of a dragon. Also sleek, but larger. A bright ruby red, with a darker earth-like underbelly and a feathery end to the tail.

The fire that licked at their teeth felt uncomfortably hot to his cold-loving body, and he grumbled a bit. The fire abated, but a bit of smoke still streamed out every once in a while.

The dragon studied him curiously, doing a full circle around the cage before sitting down in a manner that reminded of a cat.

The cloaked guys were watching them, he noted. It reminded him of when Tucker got a new dog that was a severely traumatized rescue, and they had to be really careful about introducing the two.

He scoffed internally at that. He was perfectly friendly!

Though the large, aggressive, fire-breathing magic(?) lizard was pretty intimidating. Still, he could ghostify himself at any time, and that helped his confidence massively.

Smell was weird; the other dragon radiated protectiveness, curiosity, and bravery. Confidence just oozed out of her. Smoke tinged everything, but it was still very clear. He himself was wrapped in an aura of a mixture of confidence, unsureness, slight fear, confidence in his own abilities, and annoyance. Mostly because of the necklace- he was developing an itch under there.

Indeed, the scarlet dragon seemed as confused with the artifact as he was. He stayed as still as he could as she sniffed it in particular before drawing back in disgust. Something in him whimpered, strangely, and she made a comforting almost humming noise to soothe him.

Okay, so he was acting like a dragon now too. Great, that’s new.

He stifles a vague sense of oncoming terror with ease. He’s been in a different timeline, which is basically like being in a different dimension, and if this was another world over it seemed a pretty alright one so far.

He is vaguely comforted by a flag of black in his peripheral, but no, it’s another cloaked person. Another redhead, smelling heavily of must and old paper, chatting with that Charlie guy. Not Sam.

He curls up to pout, and the red dragon flies off after a few minutes of him not being suitably interesting.

A dragon sanctuary. Wasn’t that something?

The keepers of this weird place make their move after it’s clear he’s pouting and that no more surprise guests are about to drop from the heavens.

His hearing is also whack- he could hear them coming ages earlier than he should have been able to.

He grumbled lowly and rubbed at his face in an approximation of pressing at his eyes in annoyance.

The two redheads lead the pack, along with another person in a cherry red shorter cloak that ends around their waist, carrying a leather satchel that smells strongly of herbs and medicine, something like cough drops.

“Yes, it’s fascinating, Charlie, but well, I’m more interested in that artifact there.” He could feel their eyes on him, and shifted uncomfortably. He only liked being the center of attention when it was on his own terms.

Charlie only laughed, not the least bit offended. “Yeah, I thought so. We didn’t want to risk any spells to try and magic it off ourselves, but it seems our newest guest gave it a go from the shape of their neck.” Now that he thought about it, his neck was stinging around the necklace, not just where it rubbed against more delicate scales. Had he scratched at it subconsciously?

Anyway, his pain tolerance was pretty whack since he literally started protecting his entire town. It didn’t really bother him much, though he didn’t love the faint feeling of dried blood everytime he moved his head, he knew it would flake off on it’s own eventually.

There was a whisper of movement, of cloth moving, before the voices picked back up. “Hey, hey. Don’t be an idiot; at least introduce yourself.”

A huff. “Right. I’m Bill Weasely, esteemed dragon. May your enemies cower before your might and your hunts forever be fruitful.” Danny raised his head at the odd introduction.

What kind of speech was that?

He was looking directly at this ‘Bill’, now and looked him up and down. Looked like an older version of Charlie, and taller like when you tug an image to be taller with adjusting the other angles first. Thinner, leaner, and a good four inches of height on his brother(?).

Yep, that’s a person. Sure is.

The smell of old books wafted over him now. Did this guy hang out in ancient libraries or something? Because like, that was a vibe, but also, huh?

Charlie was practically glowing at the acknowledgment, though. Danny blinked in his direction, incredibly confused.

But he was pretty sure Bill was here to get the necklace off, and if that wasn’t a relief he didn’t know what was. Though it’d probably be a bit awkward for everyone else.

He was perfectly fine with vanishing into the floor when things got awkward, though. It was an incredibly useful skill.

There was an odd feeling, like when ghost magic tried to manipulate him, brushed over his core.

His ghost core!

He reacted; and violently. He would have just clocked the offending ghost in human-ish form, but in dragon?

Well.

Ice surged from his very being. The steel bars stood no chance- they cracked and splintered under the intense cold in seconds, leaving the humans scrambling back. The odd cushy feeling that hovered an inch or so from where the metal might actually touch him felt odd as he shook all the pieces of the cage off of him, but only until they hit the ground.

He roared instinctually, but it wasn’t nearly as satisfying as a good quip. Still, he took off flying. That bit came naturally, even if he wasn’t used to the whole wings thing. If he just didn’t think too hard about it, flying just happened on it’s own, just like his ghost powers. (One day he’d get into the science behind ghost lasers and the difference of matter in and out of the Ghost Zone. And on that day Sam would kill him for rambling too long about things they didn’t understand without bothering to explain.)

There was a fair bit of yelling from below, but he didn’t care much. He respected people when they earned it, and these guys handed.

He flew up into the blissfully cool clouds, and flew around to get a gauge for which direction would be cooler. What might be north, towards the start of more hilly terrain, almost like mountain steppes, is where he eventually found himself. The plant life was more sparse- grass everywhere, with trees and shrubs popping up. It looked like pictures of Canada and other colder he had seen in textbooks when they weren’t a series of glaciers. Though he did catch sight of some animals- a rabbit going into its den, a hawk on a tree branch, a dog (?)(it was an uncanny valley situation. It was a dog; almost. Kinda?) taking shelter under a rock awning as he swooped by.

Makes sense; he’d be intimidated by him too right now.

He settled in a small valley, more of a dip in the land really, successfully flattened all the grass, made short work of a baby shrub and a small collection of rocks big enough to annoy him, and gave the entire area a nice layer of frost. The sensation felt incredible, and with the contrast of the sun beating down on him he almost felt tempted to take a nap.

But he was far too paranoid and confused right now for that.
