Long Gone
There was a feeling of hesitance in the air as Dream prepared for the final task. George and Sapnap were with him, and both kept trying to reassure him. Ari had been working with Techno and Dream tirelessly before the task, but for the last few days she left the boys to their own devices.
“It’s time to go Dream.” George snapped Dream out of his thoughts. The blonde just nodded, his eyes looking down the tunnel that led out into the arena. Into the maze. “ Just be careful okay?”
“Yeah, come on back to us Dream.” Subpoena chimed in, both boys hugging their friend.
“Thanks guys.” Dream smiled, putting on his mask and walking out into the arena to stand beside Ari and Technoblade. Techno carried a sword and crossbow along with his wand whilst Dream had a shield. He looked over to see Tommy with his sword and Wilbur with his wand and a bow. All of them held potions too, ready for any situation.
“ARE YOU READY CHAMPIONS?” Karl’s voice rang out. “IT’S TIME… TO… BEGIN!” And they were all off. Dream was quick, he knew he was quick. Bushes would close and open around him and he managed to find his own path easily.
A quick on aren’t you.
Dream stopped, looking over to see a human like creature in his way. It had pale gray skin and a long nose. Dark robes coated it’s body and it seemed angry.
How will you deal with these?
Small ghostlike creatures formed. They began to come at Dream. He held up his shield, but the small devils just went right through, clawing at his face before sinking into the ground. Dream looked down. They’d completely disappeared. He drew his wand, watching carefully for them to come up.
“STUPIFY!” He yelled, knocking the creatures still.
Very well. Continue on human, and take this.
The creature said to Dream, stepping aside.
It is a totem of undying. Should you find yourself in peril, hold it in your hand and you will be fine.
“Um… thanks?” Dream said, continuing on into the maze.
“Huh?” Wilbur looked around cautiously. Fog had risen around himself and his head whipped around this way and that. He could hear noises around him and he felt himself get dizzy. Suddenly the fog began to clear up and he saw terrifying images. He began to shake.
It was Philza, Tommy, and Technoblade on the ground dead. Whispers slipped in his mind. Why didn’t you save us? Why can’t you remember? Why’d you forget?”
“Why is he there? Why does that scare me?” Wilbur looked at the pink hybrid corpse. Then the bodies began to animate, creeping towards him and moaning. He backed away as the creatures lazily lunged at him.
“GET AWAY!” Wilbur heard Tommy’s voice over the giant sides of the maze.
“This can’t be real. I just heard him.” Wilbur whispered. “That can only mean… STUPIFY!” The bogart was flung back into it’s cabinet and Wilbur continued through the maze.
“GET AWAY!” Tommy yelled as the maze filled with zombies. He had stumbled upon this mossy contraption that had chests in it, and, always a sucker for some good loot, went into pillage. However, some weird netted thing had begun to spawn creatures Tommy could only describe as zombies.
Tommy knew as long as he could keep moving he’d be fine, but with the maze changing constantly he couldn’t bet on that. He had to find a way to deal with them. Tommy thought quickly. “LACARNUM INFLAMARI!” He yelled, lighting the zombies clothes aflame. The fire began to burn into their skin, and Tommy sprinted away.
“Not so fast.” Tommy whipped around to see a smile.
“Fuck.”
“INCARCEROUS!” Dream held, and immediately Tommy was bound with ropes. “Sorry Tommy, but I play to win.” Dream said before knocking the boy out. He sent up red flames into the air before leaving the boy behind to be picked up.
One down, two to go.
“You’ve gotta be kiddin’ me.” Technoblade said allowed as he stared at the watery chamber before him. There were one-eyed fish swimming around in it- guardians- and the maze had closed behind him. Techno noticed there was a conduit in the middle, meaning he would be able to breath. With that he downed an invisibility potion and entered the water.
Techno was able to swim past the smaller guardians easily, stabbing a few in the eye when they looked at him funny. He had it shed some weight though, leaving his heavy crossbow and red cloak behind.
Finally, he made it to the end of the tunnel where a pale guardian sat. It began to charge at him, eyes blazing, but Techno was able to easily duck behind some pillars to avoid it. Honestly, the whole thing was quite underwhelming. After the creature was slain Techno walked out all wet and frankly annoyed about the waste of time.
“I know you’re there.” Wilbur said, turning around to face the smiling mask. “I assume it’s Tommy who you’ve already gotten.”
“And you are next.” Dream said.
“Of course you’d go on the offensive.” Wilbur replied, drawing his wand.
“How about you make this easier on the two of us and just give up?” Dream smirked.
“Not a chance.” Wilbur replied, and he began an onslaught on Dream’s mind.
More red sparks. It was either Wilbur or Dream. But the way the sparks shot up… the subtle differences. It was Wilbur. He was out of the race. Which meant Dream would be after him next. No bother though, Dream had wasted his time fighting whilst Techno was growing closer to the center of the maze. He could feel it. It was getting much lighter too. He knew the cup was near.
And sure enough, turning the corner he found it. Blue light reflecting in his red eyes and giving off a heavenly aura. It was a beautiful treasure, one the pig hybrid needed to have. Had to have. He reached out to grab it…
And the world began to spin. He felt his body get pulled out of the maze and somewhere else. A portkey? Was there another trial? What had happened? He crashed into concrete, sitting up to see cell bars and ram horns.
“Target acquired, move in for final assault.” Schlatt’s voice said over the radio.
“What’s going on?” Techno asked, looking up at Schlatt.
“Oh Technoblade, did you really think you could hide your roots forever?”
