A SISTERLY REUNION
NATASHA ROMANOFF WAS KNOWN TO HAVE MANY THINGS, BUT A GUILTY CONSCIENCE WAS NOT ONE. It had only been a few days since the graveyard incident, but it felt as if it had happened only moments before. Why couldn’t she save Cedric? He had done nothing wrong, so why did he have to die?
Her heart raced within her chest, her mind going a mile a minute. Opening her green eyes, she stared up at the cloudy sky above her. That’s how she felt. Dark and Depressive, like the sky above her. God, she felt like shit. The swing above her creaked, its’ chains slightly shaking as she pushed herself off the ground.
“DON’T TOUCH HER!”
Natasha’s eyes squeezed shut as she tried to forget that moment, the moment in which her childhood was taken away once more.
“I WILL SHOOT!”
Her jaw clenched as her feet skidded herself to a stop, her eyes narrowed at the ground below her.
“ I WILL KILL YOU ALL!”
The sound of mocking chuckles was heard. Looking up, she spotted a group of five ugly boys surrounding someone. The leader, who looked like a fat walrus, was clearly trying to intimate whoever they were picking on. Rolling her eyes, Natasha got up to stop the awaiting fight. However, it seemed she wasn’t needed as the leader let out a large groan, clutching his private parts with a pained look on his face.
The other kids in his group stared down at the person they were tormenting in anger. Natasha couldn’t tell what gender they were, or what age they were, but they seemed to be pretty short. A kid with a rat-like face reached up to push the kid but ended up getting flipped onto his back. Her green eyes widened in shock as she quickly made her way over there. “Hey!” The rat-kid shouted as his friends ran away, clutching his head in pain. “Get back here! You little bitch--”
“You know, that’s not a very nice way to speak to someone,” Natasha’s eyes widened as she heard the familiar accent, her eyes almost falling out of her head as she stared at the little girl with blonde hair, “You should be ashamed of yourself. Attacking a poor, defenseless, little girl…. What would your mother say?” The blonde girl shook her head, wagging her finger in his face like he was a bad dog. “Bad Dog!”
Natasha couldn’t help herself, a giggle slipped out of her lips. “Yeah, if you don’t behave, your mommy won’t give you an extra treat after dinner.” Natasha slipped in on the taunting, and the blonde girl looked over, looking eyes with Natasha. Her blue eyes widened drastically, taking in a deep breath. Giving the girl a smile, Natasha nudged the boy to go away. “Go away.” Quickly grabbing his overweight friend, they ran out of the park.
“...Natalia?” Yelena asked, tilting her head to the side as she stared at the redhead.
Natasha smiled, crossing her arms over her chest. “Hello, little sister.” They both stared into each other’s eyes, finding nothing to say. Natasha felt awkward as she stood there, closing herself off from her younger sister. Yelena’s left eyebrow twitched as she sent a blow to Natasha’s stomach.
Grunting, the ginger stumbled back as the blonde advanced on her. “All these years!” Her voice was loud as she went to send a kick into Natasha’s side. Rolling out of the way, Natasha quickly grabbed Yelena’s arm and twisted it behind her back. “Good to see you, too.” Natasha greeted. Letting out a small yell of anger, Yelena released herself from Natasha’s grip and sent her small foot into Natasha’s gut.
It seemed as if Yelena couldn’t control her anger. Whipping out her gun, she pointed it at Natasha. However, Natasha had the same idea and pointed the gun at the girl, both of them slowly circling each other in the park. It probably wasn’t a good idea to be fighting out in public, but hey! You gotta deal with family issues one way or another… and sometimes , that involves beating your sibling’s ass in public.
“How about we talk calmly… without guns…” Natasha tried to reason. Yelena tilted her head to the side, a mocking look on her face as she thought about it. The blonde hummed, puckering her lips as she thought about it.
“No, I don’t think I will.”
Reacting at the same time, both of the sisters reached forward to grab their guns. However, they only managed to switch guns in the process. Yelena reached forward, jumping up and moving Natasha’s arm away. However, the ginger simply reacted by using her leg to kick the younger girl off of her. Grabbing Yelena by the shoulders, Natasha pushed the young blonde into a nearby tree.
Letting out a small grunt, Yelena slammed her head against Natasha’s and pushed her off of her, pushing her onto the ground. Before Yelena could get on top of Natasha, the ginger quickly switched their positions, slamming Yelena onto the ground. “Stay down,” The ginger gritted out, her eyes wide, “Stay down!”
“ URGHHH!!!” Letting out a war cry: (read tantrum), the small blonde grabbed the thing closest to her, which happened to be a large stick, and smacked it across Natasha’s head. Letting out a string of curses, Natasha backed up as she watched the little girl pull a hunting knife out of the vest she was wearing.
Дерьмо, how much could she fit in that little thing?!
Grabbing her mini baton from within her jacket, ( Yes, Clint, it was needed, thank you very much! ) she blocked the hit from Yelena. Realizing she was now on the defense, she quickly spun out of the way and ran behind Yelena, bringing the baton up to her neck and removing the knife from her sister. “I need to calm down.” She gritted out.
It seemed Yelena wasn’t about to give up just yet. Her limbs thrashed around as she tried to get out of the hold, and for a moment -- she managed. Slipping out from the baton, Yelena ran forward with a yell. Realizing that this wasn’t gonna get anywhere, Natasha sighed, stepping out of the way. “Yelena,” Natasha said, a warning in her voice, “Sto--” Grunting from the blow she took, Natasha realized there was only one thing she could do.
Taking out her wand, she looked around to see if anyone was watching and quickly flicked her wand. Before Yelena could fall to the ground, Natasha caught her, “I got you, sister. I gotcha…” Letting out a tired sigh, Natasha heaved the young girl up into the air and started walked towards her car.
Humming underneath her breath, Natasha’s eyes flickered over to the waking form of Yelena. The blonde girl groaned underneath her breath, opening her eyes to see the inside of a car. “Look who’s awake.” Natasha said, her voice dry with humor, “thought miss sleeping beauty was in a coma.”
“Shut up,” Yelena muttered, rubbing her eyes, “Where are we?” She honestly looked adorable. In Natasha’s mind, she looked like a cute, angry kitten.
Pausing at the stop sign, Natasha answered, “We’re in my car, on the way to my house.” The question was on the tip of her tongue, and she found she could not hold it in any longer, “What were you doing in London?”
Rolling her blue eyes, Yelena continued to wiggle around in her seat, “Was sent here for a mission. Decided to put a Natalia, and disappear.” The blonde shrugged, picking out the dirt from underneath her nails, “Your name is still Natalia, yes?”
“No,” Natasha shook her head, “My name is Natasha, now.” The girl was quiet for a few moments before nodding, letting out a quiet, “It fits you well… Where were you all those years?”
Her throat closed up as she tried to think of a way to explain this to the blonde. “I was…” Licking her lips, she stared up at the red light above her, “I was out in America. I moved out west to try and get away from the Red Room. I became a Shield Agent.”
Yelena’s eyebrows furrowed together, her forehead creasing slightly. Her lips were pointed downwards, a frown on her face as she thought about Natasha’s words. “...and what about me?” Her voice shook as she glanced over at the red-head, “Where did you think I was all these years? After what happened in Ohio, I… I only ever heard tales of you from then on.”
Chewing her bottom lip slightly, her grip tightened on the stirring wheel. The tension was thick within the car, and Natasha found it hard to answer, “Yelena, I…” Taking in a deep breath, Natasha forced herself to continue, “I couldn’t remember you. I only just started remembering the Ohio Mission a few months ago, and I tried to look for you then, but… I was busy.”
“You were busy, and that’s why you couldn’t look for me?” Yelena demanded, a hurt expression on her face, “I would’ve dropped everything to come to look for you.”
“Well, when you’re placed in a magical tournament illegally and have to compete in it just so you can keep your magic -- so you can live; yeah, I was pretty busy. If I wasn’t alive, then we wouldn’t be where we are now. Yelena, trust me, if I was able to, I would’ve dropped everything to search for you.” Natasha couldn’t help it; she snapped.
The car was silent, both of the girls unwilling to speak. Parking on the side of the road, Natasha turned to Yelena, a serious look on her face. “Yelena, I will explain everything to you when we get inside. However, you can’t say the name out loud, got it?” Blue met Green, an intense stare between the two. Nodding slowly, Yelena unbuckled herself from her seat. “Here, memorize it and then tear it up.”
12 Grimmauld Place
Looking up, she watched as a building formed between the two -- a building of which she knew wasn’t there before. Stepping out of the car with wide eyes, she quickly ripped up the paper and followed Natasha into the townhouse, which looked the complete opposite as soon as she stepped inside. “Natasha, you better explain what the hell is going on…” Yelena demanded.
“So, not only are you an assassin, but you somehow have Matilda powers?” Yelena questioned, looking between the three magical people in front of her. “And you’re a known criminal and you’re his nerdy boyfriend?” The two men nodded, awkward smiles on their faces.
Blinking in shock, Natasha stared at the girl in confusion, “--I… how do you know what Matilda is?” She asked. She was pretty sure that the red room didn’t have circle time and read a storybook. The young blonde girl’s lips quirked up into a smirk, stealing a sandwich from the plate of sandwiches Remus had prepared.
“You do realize they let us read in the red room, yes? They may be cruel enough to steal our childhoods, but would never be so cruel to deny us the wonders of Jane Austen.” Her accent was strong, her voice slightly nasally as she snarked to the ginger. Natasha slowly lowered the sandwich she was about to bite, her face serious as she told the girl, “Yelena, I’m about to hit you with this sandwich.”
Sirius and Remus both shared a glance as they watched the blonde girl challenge Natasha, her arms held out wide; a cheeky grin on her face. Before anyone could stop her, Natasha threw the peanut butter sandwich into Yelena’s face, a look of satisfaction on her face as Yelena stared at the ginger in shock. “What? You told me to hit you, I was only following orders.” Her voice was serious.
Yelena scoffed, her eyes wide as she wiped the jelly off of her long eyelashes. “Я заставлю тебя пожалеть о том дне, когда ты родился.” The blonde swore. Natasha smirked, her eyebrows raising up in amusement. (I'll make you regret the day you were born)
“W-What she’d just say?” Remus stuttered out, looking between the two nervously, who seemed to be having a staring contest. “Are they… are they having a staring contest? Seriously?! ”
Sirius chuckled, patting Remus on the shoulder, “No, our Natasha is simply showing her dominance.” Sirius explained as Yelena let out a string of curses, rubbing her watering eyes as Natasha stared at her smugly.
“…Oh, Merlin… she’s worse than Clint.”
