Just a dream
When Raven finally fell asleep, Ontari left to tend to Dylan who was also sick. She hadn’t been resting at all. Truth to be told, she didn’t think she deserved it. She thought she was finally healing, but then Raven fell sick and Ontari felt horrible again. But this time, she couldn’t tell anyone. Ontari sang to Dylan, hoping he would fall asleep too. It worked. Ontari had always been born a good singer but she was not exactly allowed to sing when she was younger. And Ontari, herself, fell asleep too.

“Clarke. It’s your birthday in two days. What would you like to do?” Lexa asked.
“Hmm.” Clarke murmured sleepily, “Spend all day with you and Hazel. And our friends of course. I just hope Raven and Ontari are up to it.”
Lexa frowned, “What’s going on with Ontari? She has been refusing to look at me lately.”
“I don’t know.” Clarke replied. “I hope she’s okay.”
“Yeah but… is she mad at me or something? I mean I’ve never seen her like this. She is really one of the sweetest people alive and she has such a big heart.”
Clarke sat up, Lexa having her full attention. “Honey, don’t overthink it. She’s not mad at you, she probably is having a hard time right now. Mental health is hard.”
Lexa sighed and lay down, “Yeah you’re probably right.”
Clarke gave Lexa a kiss on her forehead. “Anything else you’re worried about?”
Lexa chuckled. “Yes. Uh the others want me to train Hazel in combat.”
Clarke raised an eyebrow, “And what do you want? You’re her mom, they don’t get to decide what Hazel’s future holds.”
Lexa rolled onto her side to look at Clarke, “I want her to be herself. I don’t want to force her to be Commander just because she’s the oldest of our children.”
Clarke’s mouth quirked upwards, “Children?”
Lexa stammered, “Well— I thought— we were going to have—-?”
Before she could finish, Clarke leaned over and kissed her wife. “I would love anything with you. As long as it’s with you. And you’re commander but I’ll make sure no one so much as touches you.”
Lexa smiled, “I love you. So so much you’ll never know.”
“I think I might.” Clarke smiled.

Ontari opened her eyes. She was not at home. She saw a lake and a bench in front of it. Someone was sitting on it. “Who are you?” Ontari asked, curious. “Where am I?”
The person turned around and she smiled. “Ah Ontari, we have been expecting you. The higher beings have realised that in order for the future to be secure, you must be healed.” The person was wearing a hood and Ontari felt that person felt familiar. It was all very odd.
“I don’t understand.” Ontari said softly.
“You’re not in a good place mentally. We’re here to help you with that.”
“Who would do that? Why would anyone do that?” Ontari asked.
The being answered, “Your inner child set this up. She is so damaged right now. But she believed, one day, you will heal.”
Ontari scoffed, “I must be dreaming, there’s no such thing. That’s not a thing. An inner child is not a thing.”
“Oh you better believe it. She believes meeting your parents will help resolve some of your past.”
“My parents? They’re dead.”
“Ah. But not in spirit. Soon you will meet them. Not now, but soon. Look, the healing journey will be hard, really hard. But believe and push through. They are at the end of the road.”
“Wait what-? Then when will I–?”
“Just trust me.”
Ontari gasped awake and she was once again transported back into her home. She clutched the scarf around her neck and glanced over to Dylan to make sure he was still sleeping. She heaved a sigh. This had to be a dream. No one could help her. A dream, that's all it was. But something about the person in that hood felt familiar and it disturbed her.
Raven coughed in her bed and croaked, “Honey? Did you have a nightmare again?”
Ontari snapped up, “No. I… go back to sleep. I’m fine, I promise.”
Raven replied, “Oh okay. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight my love.” Ontari answered softly.
