A Welcomed Surprise
About a month later, you were supposed to meet Draco to go to Diagon Alley, but you couldn’t find him anywhere. You asked Neville, but he hadn’t seen him all day. You went and checked his room. Not there. You went back to the common room.
“Has anyone seen Draco?” you asked. No one answered.
They still didn’t care for other houses being in their common room. You started walking the halls, hoping you would run into him.
Then you remembered.
You ran to the prefect bathroom. You took a deep breath hoping he was in there. You opened the door. “Draco?” you listened. You heard some noise. “Draco.” You said louder as you walked farther into the bathroom.
You heard the noise again. It sounded like someone was in pain. You turned the corner, and he came into view. He was sitting on the floor leaning up against the wall. You went over to him. You saw a bandage on the ground and then something you hadn’t seen for a year; you almost forgot he had it. You grabbed his arm where it was and put your other hand on his face. He apparently didn’t know you were there because it startled him.
“Hey. Don’t ever disappear again. Are you okay?”
“Sorry. Someone is messing with the Dark Mark.”
“Who could it be?”
“I don’t know. It hasn’t hurt since he was defeated.”
He finally noticed it wasn’t hurting anymore. He looked down and saw it was still moving.
He looked at you, “What are you doing?”
“Well, nothing really.” You smiled. “Well, you probably don’t know this, no one does really. Professor Snape gave me extra lessons in defense against the dark arts.” He looked at you confused. “Well, all of our teachers sucked, and I really liked DA, and he really wanted to teach it so I would go to is classroom after all the other classes were done. He taught me a lot of stuff.”
He thought about it for few seconds. “He taught a student who wasn’t a Slytherin and liked it?”
“Come on, does that still surprise you after all that has happened?”
“But what about last year?”
“Well, I figured out really quick that it wasn’t going to happen.”
He sat there again for a few seconds, then kissed you. “But why isn’t it hurting?”
You looked into his eyes. “What has defeated the Dark Lord every time?”
He looked at you.
“Love.” You said.
He kissed you again.
You broke away, “Well if you liked that you are going to love this.”
You turned around and sat up against him. You put his arm with the Dark Mark on it in your lap. You let go of his arm and got out your wand. With your other hand you grabbed his wrist. He put his other arm around your waist.
“Here we go.” You said.
You put your wand at the top of the tattoo and started to say the spell. You drug your wand down the tattoo and brought it back to the top and zig-zagged it down and repeated. He tightened his arm around your waist and grimaced. You did this for a few minutes until it was completely gone. You let go of his arm and smiled. It worked, you thought.
“There.” You turned to look at him.
His head was against the wall and his eyes were closed. You weren’t sure how much the process hurt, but he looked kind of wiped.
“Draco?”
“Yeah.”
“Aren’t you going to look?”
“Why? I know what’s there.”
“Did you not watch anything that just happened? Didn’t it stop hurting?” you said thinking maybe you did something wrong.
“Yeah, but aren’t you holding it?”
“No.” He brought his head up and looked at you.
“Look.” You said and held his arm up.
He looked at it then at you. He took his other arm from around you and felt it. Smooth, no bumps, no marks. Clean.
“How… How did you do that?”
“I told you. Snape taught me a lot of stuff. Actually, he taught me that last week.”
“Last week?”
“Yeah. McGonagall lets me into her office once a week.”
“But he’s…”
“He has a portrait.”
Draco just looked at you. “You are amazing.”
He grabbed you and kissed you. You guys stayed there for a while kissing and talking. Draco was quiet for a while, tracing circles on your arm.
“Babe?”
“Yeah?”
“Can you that again?”
“Well, yeah. But who else would I do it for?”
“I want you to come home with me.”
“Why?” you looked at him. It only took a few seconds for you to figure it out. “Wait a minute. You want me to it for your father! Are you crazy!?” you got up.
“Come on, he will love you.”
“You know I’m half-blood, right? I know your father; he hates anything and everything not pure blood.”
“Babe, he has changed. He is different.”
You took a deep breath. “Okay. But don’t leave me.”
“Never.” He stood up and put his hand out.
“We’re going now?” You ignored his hand and put your arms around him.
“Don’t let go.” And he apparated to Malfoy Manor.
