“Alright Ma’am, this is your stop”
“Thank you. How much is the ride?”
“The ride is prepaid Ma’am..”
“Oh. Okay thank you.” Anueng gets out of the premium taxi and looks above to the building before her. There are few places that could create a sense of fear for Aneung. Prision, school, the house her mother lives with her new husband, But this…this one takes the cake. She looks up to the giant sign that screams instills the fear she’s feeling now.
Diversity.
The company owned by her girlfriend's sister, Sam.
Anueng has seen Sam a handful of times and only spoke to Sam once, and that when she used another girl to make Nueng jealous. That… probably didn’t make the best first impression to her, but now she was given a second chance. While Nueng was out working on her art galleries, Aneung will use this time to meet up with some of the last family Nueng has…
That didn’t make it easy. Worse was the rumors she heard about Sam on the internet. Do get a feeling for the woman, she googled her name, and what she found was concerning. There were many rumors, all mostly pointing to the fact she was a cold hearted bully. She fires employees for dating. That she used her position of power to bully a new employee. That she then blackmailed said employee into an inappropriate relationship. Truly, it seemed she was the evil tyrant of this company.
Anueng shakes these thoughts away and tightens her resolve. She had to meet her, there was nothing around it. If she and Nueng were truly going to stay together, then she would have to be on good terms with Sam. She’s just hoping the rumors to be false…
Anueng went into the building, greeted the guard and told him who she was. “Oh! Miss Anueng! Miss Sam said to expect you! Please come this way.” The guard nods and immediately gets up and escorts her through the building like his job depended on it. Anueng looks through the building and it surprisingly looks good. Colorful rooms with glass walls and many couches and sofas to rest. The main media room was large with different color panels all over to create a fun atmosphere. However when the workers look at her, they start to gossip.
“Is that the girl Miss Boss was preparing for?”
“I think she is. You think Miss Boss is gonna yell at her.”
“I hope not…She’s so young” the murmurs around the room start.
“Miss Sam. Your guest has arrived.” the security guard says through the door.
“Good. Let her in.” the voice inside echoed. The guard turns to Anueng and bows before going back to his post. Anueng holds the knob for a bit before toughening up and going through.
“Close the door behind you.” the voice said again. Anueng does just that and closes the door, hearing the click of an electronic lock. Trying to look around the office, it was clear it was spacious, but that's all she could see. The lights inside are all off except a desk lamp that was pointing at the face of the person sitting behind it.
“Sit down,” the voice says. Anueng follows the instructions yet again. She sits snugly in the small chair across the desk, and looks up to see the owner of the voice.
Sam.
“Now… What are your intentions with my sister?” the voice asks. The tone was the same, a sense of superiority, and Anueng couldn’t take her seriously.
And although it was dark, Aneung managed to pick up on three important details. One, she was wearing a pink hello kitty necklace. Two, her phone was buzzing and it had a picture of her and another girl on it. Three…
Seriously? What are your intentions with my sister? That’s something my dad would say!
Anueng loosens up and thinks to herself. She already started dating Nueng and they even live together. What was next? What else did she intend to do?
“I intend to marry her!” Aneung exclaims. Her and Sam lock eyes. What was essentially a staring contest seems like a battle for the truth between the two of them. Anueng vows to herself not to lose this battle, and in the end she succeeds rather quickly.
“Alright” Sam lightens up both her mood and the room. Anueng looks around the room to see all the lights on and the room was colorful and filled to the brim with stuff that shouldn’t be in a work office.
Two couches? A TV? A switch? A PS5! Does she actually work? Anueng thinks to herself, but stops herself from voicing any of that.
“C’mon, let's sit on the couch to talk.” Sam points and Anueng goes to sit on a couch before Sam stops her.
“NOT THAT COUCH!” Sam stops her from sitting. “It’s dirty,” Sam said quickly.
“Oh… why didn’t you clean it yet?”
“It happened yesterday and I prefer to get an outside cleaner to deal with it.” Sam says and points to the other couch. “Besides, this couch is better. The bottom extends out and lets you rest your foot” Sam demonstrates. Aneung nods and they go to sit on the couch without the foot rest, to Sam's disappointment.
“Well Aneung. As you can guess, I liked your answer. It’s the one I wanted to hear. I can see you’re very serious about my sister”
“Of course I am! I love her!” Aneung exclaims.
“And she loves you too. Besides her family she has never really loved someone like you” Sam says earnestly. “Anyway I contacted you for one reason. We rarely talked, and as your future sister in law, I thought we should get to know each other.”
“Oh! Good! I would like that as well… but how did you get my number” Anueng ask. There was no way Nueng would give it to her. Plus, she remembers the invitation. Sam sounded like she was trying to ransom hostages with a voice changer. Only till she said her name did she realize it wasn’t some random crazy that got her number.
“Took it from my sister’s phone.” Sam admits bluntly.
“Why the voice changer?”
“Well I have to instill some fear and respect. It worked, didn’t it?”
“Oh…it worked very well.” Anueng answers to be polite, and Sam starts to look proud.
“Hm.” Sam really liked that answer, but wasn’t going to dwell on it. “But enough about that. I heard some stuff about you from Nueng and I have formed some questions for you.” Sam shows off the notes on her phone. “They’re gonna be tough…Do you mind if I ask?”
“Oh…No, Ask away”
“Well… for the first one…” Sam looks at her list and goes back to Anueng. “Isn’t it weird?”
“What’s weird?”
“Your parents”
“What about my parents”
“Well they both liked Nueng and… when you get married, doesn't that mean she will be their daughter in law” Anueng eyes wide, wondering why she was asking about this. “And doesn’t that mean they both tried to date their daughter in law. That’s probably gonna be weird to talk about at the wedding” Sam said bluntly.
“I-I. Shit. Oh excuse me. I just- I just didn’t think of that till now!” Anueng screeches in her panic. “Oh god it’s gonna be so messed up” Sam laughs at the girls reaction.
“Haha! I bet your parents don’t treasure that idea either”
“Yeah, as if they don’t have enough to dislike about our relationship” Anueng mutters to herself.
“I wouldn’t think too much about it. After all, you're the winner and they’re the loser” Sam points out. .
“Haha. I guess.”
“Alright. Now, for the second question. What about your grandparents? I heard from Nueng that Chet’s parents hate her. I wonder how they feel about Neung going from being their daughter-in-law to now their granddaughter-in-law.”
“Ohh…shit. We haven’t told them”
“Make Nueng tell them. I bet that will be funny” Sam suggested.
“Maybe, maybe. Uh… is this really all you wanted to ask?”
“No that wasn’t all. I got way more on this list, but I listed some of this stuff cause I was thinking how fucked up your family shit is” Sam laughs to herself. “But in all seriousness, I do want to learn more about you. From Nueng, all I know is the family drama stuff, and that you're a major masochist". Anueng eyes widen and her face starts to blush.
“She told you what?!”
“Yeah she told Mon and I right after you asked her to bite you” Sam says so directly Anueng wasn’t sure if she was hearing her right. “She then said you like to be a sub and you wanted to be whipped. Don’t worry though, I’m the same. My girlfriend likes it when I act like a dog, so we’re bottom buddies!” Sam says and holds her hand out for a high five. After a couple of seconds of leaving Sam hanging, Anueng reluctantly reciprocates the high five.
“Yeahhh.” Sam cheers up after the high five. “Now what else. Ahhh. I heard you are still going to college. You are still interested in pursuing a career?” Sam ask.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I?” Anueng asked genuinely and a bit annoyed. Did she think she would sit around doing nothing all day cause her girlfriend was rich?
“Oh no, I didn’t mean any offense. It’s just that since Nueng is rich as hell and your father is embezzling the people’s taxes, I would think you would be set for life” Sam explains the very thing that annoyed Anueng, but something else caught her ear.
“I- I’m pretty sure my dad isn’t stealing taxes.”
“Oh he is. Your grandfather too.”.
“...What?”
“Oh but don’t worry. I heard everyone who had a problem with it was taken care of.” Sam says again and Anueng starts to go into shock. “But enough about what crimes your family may or may not have done” Sam brushes the issues aside. “What about you? What are you studying?”
“Uh… Communications arts”
“Oh so you want to be a spokesperson or a social media manager? If you want I could hire you here!” Sam offers.
“No no it's fine. I have a podcast where I do voice over for books and talk to people.”
“Oh, like that DJ who listens to people’s problems?”
“Yeah! Do you listen to him too?”
“Nope. I don’t like listening to other people’s problems. It’s hard to care if I don’t know the person and they come off as whiney to me. “Oh, I asked out a girl but she said she wasn’t interested.” Well maybe if you weren’t so ugly, you could get some bitc-.” Sam says, remembering that she wasn’t the only one there.
“Oh…”
“W-w-well I bet yours is way better. I will definitely give it a chance. Can I see some of your work? " Sam tries to recover.
“Sure. Here” Anueng opens up her youtube. “Here is my youtube channel. I have the issues I talk about and their names if they want too” Anueng hands over her phone. Sam quickly scans over the playlist and is impressed.
“Oh wow. You have done a lot of work considering you're still in college” Anueng felt a bit proud about the compliment. “What the fuck!” Sam sits up, startling Anueng.
“What?!”
“You know Siang Pleng?” Sam almost yells out loud and jumps out of her seat.
“Y-yeah! She shouted out my podcast a while back so we got in contact. We’re also friends that hang out here and there.” the younger girl answers.
“Fuck yeah! This is great! She’s really popular right now. The company will surely get a boon if we work together” Sam goes over to hold Aneung’s hands. “I need your help”
“I don’t think I should-”
“Please! We sent her an inquiry before but her manager said they have too many offers and they would consider it! I bet she would do it if you ask”.
“Well… I”
“Please? For your future sister in law?” Sam begs with puppy dog eyes, making Anueng concede.
“Alright! I’ll message her now” Sam cheers.
“Excellent! Thanks sis! Do you think she would do it?”
“Maybe? She doesn’t exactly like your family.”
“What? Why?” Sam panics.
“Welllll…. Hm how do I word this… Your sister’s ex one night stand is her current girlfriend, and said girlfriend uses Nueng to make her jealous when they fight.” Anueng explains, getting annoyed thinking about when they did the reciprocal.
“...What the fuck?” Sam looks confused. “She never told me any of that! And why the hell is she doing any of that!” She complains but calms herself down. “Whatever, it's still no problem. She has a problem with my sister, not me. And if she does have a problem with me, the paycheck she will get will surely rectify that” Sam said confidently.
“I guess. Look, I asked her. “ Anueng points to her phone. “I think she is working right now but I’ll let you know when she answers.”
“Good, good. Thank you!” Sam cheers. “Oh the people in the office are gonna love this”. Sam gets up and cheers.
“Uhh..speaking of which, I read some things about you online,” Anueng says.
“Oh? And what did you read?”
“That you are a evil boss”
“Oh. Yeah I saw that on reddit. Tried to take it down too. But reddit didn’t want to… The bitches” Sam said, still bitter about it. “They post so much bullshit about me and only some of it is true. I’m just asking to delete the wrong stuff” Sam owns up to it. “Like year, I know I’m strict. I have to be strict. It’s a company. I need the best performance possible, but I didn’t suck the blood out of employees and store their bodies in my freezer. That’s disgusting” Sam complains and Anueng doesn't remember seeing that one.
“Yeah, but I read you fired people for an office romance”
“Oh yeah I did that. It was against the company policies. It’s not like it’s a surprise that I fired them”
“But I also heard you started dating an employee?”
“I did and still am. That’s why I changed the rules.”
“Isn’t that a bit…unfair?”
“I’m the boss, the rules bend for me” Sam said arrogantly. “Besides, they get the benefits too now. It’s a win win..” Sam explains. “Look, I may have been harsher before, but back then the company was on a time limit. It was either a hard job or no job for them. Now that the company is doing well, I’m not as bad.”
“Then why did everyone look scared when I entered?”
“I was in a bad mood this morning and I made an example out of Chin… Though I mostly do that since Chin likes to goof off too much” Sam explains. “Still I don’t know why they are overreacting, I let them have their fun”
“...Like when?”
“I sometimes gift the whole office food, I don’t stop them from talking shit about me, and I didn’t even punish them about the bet about my break up.” Sam says..
“You broke up with the girl you were dating?”
“No. Back then I was engaged to a guy named Kirk. It was an arranged marriage so there wasn’t any love, which is why I started dating Mon.”
“You cheated on your fiance?”
“You bet I did andI would do it again.” Sam says proudly. “Well things got better with her and worse with Kirk, so I broke up with him. Word got around and people were placing bets about why we broke up. Most of them thought Kirk was dating Mon, the girl I was dating. Pshhh. Like he ever had a chance with her…”
“Aren’t those rumors something you should’ve been concerned about?”
“It’s not like it really slowed down their work. And if ever did, all I would have to do is leave this room and everyone goes back to work”
“Yeah that's good and all but that sounds like something HR should have stopped. Couldn’t it be consider harassment towards you and Mon?”
“Hmmm. Noi also took part in the bet… If that's true, I’m gonna need to talk to her” Sam talks to herself. Anueng starts to feel she got someone in trouble. “Anyway, I didn’t stop it. If it doesn’t slow down their work, I don't really care. Besides, many of them learned their lesson. One of the workers named Yha won the whole pot after they found out about me and Mon. She bought herself a car.” Sam says.
“Oh, well that's good.. I guess.”
“Yeah, I know. I’m a pretty great boss” Sam congratulates herself.
“Uhh. Yeah I guess you are.”
“Yup, now it's my turn to ask the question.” We were taking turns? “I heard you were very sick as a child. How are things going so far?”
“Neung told you that?”
“No, I looked into it,” Sam says, refusing to elaborate. “But I want to make sure you are fully okay. Can’t have a happy marriage if you're dead!” she bluntly says.
“Well I’m mostly fine. I fixed my eyesight with lasik and I’ve been exercising to keep healthy”
“Hmm. Well just in case you should get the royal doctors to look over every nook and cranny to make sure you don't have anything crazy that'll kill you before you’re 30. ”
“I- I don’t want them to look over ever nook and cranny”
“Oh don’t worry. I’ll get a female doctor if you’re worried. There was this one at this general hospital my friend Kade said was pretty good. I think her name is Dr.Wa-”
A ring from Anuengs phone.
“Oh is that Pleng?” Sam ask. Anueng takes out her phone and checks the message.
“Yeah, she said that she will consider it. Her manager got an offer from Nita’s Creative and they were talking about doing that deal, but she might reconsider.” Anueng read out loud to Sam’s anger.
“...Nita’s Creative?” Sam grits her teeth.
“Yeah. Is there a problem with that?”
“Yeah there is. I’m not letting that thieving bitch get the upper hand on me again” Sam yells. “I will get Siang Pleng to work with us! It should be easy, unlike that bitch, I have connections to Pleng”
“I don’t think her being your sister’s ex one-night stand’s current girlfriend is a connection to her”
“It’s better than nothing… And besides I also have you!” Sam says. “Can you ask when she can meet up?”
“Sure” Anueng messages and gets an answer fast. “She says that she’s almost done with work and can meet for lunch?”
“Perfect. I-. Fuck. I am meeting my friends for lunch soon.” Sam thinks to herself. “Whatever. I’ll tell them to behave. You want to come?”
“Sure!” Anueng replies. “Neung says that you’re friends are fun!”
“Oh they’re…they’re something all right…” Sam mutters. They head out and Sam yells to the office. “I’ll be out for the rest of the day so… Yha’s in charge!” Sam points to Yha who looks surprised. “Yha. Don’t fuck this up. If you do well I’ll consider promoting you” This gets Yha’s attention, and everyone starts to look more scared than when Sam is in charge.
“Don’t worry boss! I won’t let you down!” Yha solutes and Sam solutes back. The two girls leave while the sound of Yha giving orders roars in the background.
They arrive at the restaurant. A very fancy place that Anueng has never seen before.
“Don’t worry, I’ll treat you” Sam offers and Anueng feels better. They walk up to the entrance and see three other women waiting by the entrance.
“Sam! How are you- oh. Who is this?”
“Kade, Tee, Jim. This is Anueng. Anueng, these are my friends.” Sam introduces each other.
“Hi” Anueng waves to them and the three look at the two in pure disgust.
“Sam… I never thought you would do this to Mon, and with such a young girl” Kade chastises her.
“What?”
“After all that… Poor Mon. She is gonna be heartbroken” Jim holds onto her chest in shock.
“Damn you really like them young huh?... Hey if Mon is single, can I ask her out?” Tee says.
“Wh- Tee fuck off” Sam yells at Tee. “I’m not dating her! She’s family!” Sam yells at them.
“Ohhhhh. Thank god” the three say.
“Umm. Sorry for that. It’s nice to meet you, Anueng. I’m Jim” Jim says first with a handshake.
“Nice to meet you too, and I recognize you from your movies Kade. It's amazing to meet you!”
“Oh! A fan! It’s always nice to meet one!” Kade brushes her hair.
“Hey cutie. How are you?” Tee offers her hand and Sam smacks it away.
“She is taken”
“Awww. That sucks. Still nice to meet you?”
“...Nice to meet you too”
“So Anueng.” Jim interrupts. “ What side of the family are you from?”.
“She is Nueng’s future wife” Sam answers for her. The three again have a look of shock on their face.
“What!?” the three said in unison;
“Nueng is gay?” Kade ask.
“Jesus, first Song, then you, and now Nueng. I’m guessing your bloodline ends with you huh?” Tee comments
“Hey me and Mon will have kids one day, just you wait!” Sam exclaims while Jim gets close to talk to Anueng.
“Uhh sweetie… How old are you?”
“22”
“Holy shit! So that's one, two…. Sixteen year gap!” Jim screamed.
“Oh shit. I guess whatever the younger sister does, the older sister does better” Tee jokes to herself.
“Hey I’m not so bad! Mon and I still got the eight year age gap” Sam complains.
“What do you mean still? You’re talking as if that’s gonna change!” Tee exclaims.
“Either way, that's not something you should be bragging or competing over” Jim scolds her.
“Whatever! C’mon let's go inside! I reserved a private serving room for us” Sam yells at the three. The five of them enter the restaurant and Sam gets a private room with a table for six. They sit down and while waiting to be served they start to talk.
“Why the table for six Fuzzy? Is Mon coming?” Jim asks.
“No, her mother is sick so she went to take care of her for a couple of days.”
“Ahhh, so who is the next person coming?” Tee ask.
“A friend of Anueng’s.” Sam answers short. “Speaking of which, is she done with work Anueng?”
“Yeah I just messaged her the location. She will be here soon” Anueng replies.
“Good good. Now… let’s talk” the three immediately jump at this opportunity.
“Okay. So you are sixteen years younger than Nueng?” Kade ask.
“Yup.”
“Shit. Your mom could have went to highschool with us”
“She did. She’s Fah’s kid” Sam informs them.
“What?” the three yell.
“Your Fah’s kid? I guess that makes sense. There were rumors that she got pregnant... You know your mom was crushing on Neung hard right?” Jim informs her.
“Y-yeah she told me.”
“Damn that must be weird.”Kade adds in
“If you think that's weird, Chet is her father!”
“What?!” the three yell and repeat.
“That’s Nueng’s ex fiance.” Jim says.
“Shit, you were born for Nueng, huh? I bet your parents aren’t happy!” Tee adds.
“Tsk. Don’t make fun of her. It must be weird for them. Did you tell them?” Kade ask.
“They know. They’re…well they’re mostly fine with it since they realized they can’t stop me” Anueng says proudly.
“Wow. The cutie is strong willed” Tee comments.
“Shit. Almost everyone back then dreamed about dating Nueng. It’s crazy that the kid of one of them would get her… Hey” Kade turns to Anueng. “Could I use your story for a drama? I wanted to start writing!” Kade exclaims.
“Uhh… I wouldn’t”
“Write your own material Kade!” Sam tells her.
“You're no fun!”
“Well you’re gonna be sued by the royal lawyers so go ahead, have your fun” Kade fake glares at Sam who just shrugs her off. Anueng laughs it off before she feels a buzz.
.
Anueng’s phones rings and she picks it up to read the message. “Sam. She’s here”
“Perfect, c’mon let's go and find her," Sam and Anueng gets up and goes outside to find Pleng. Sam gets outside first and struggles to find the girl. As Anueng comes outside, Sam is confused.
“Anueng, are you sure she’s here?”
“Yeah she said she’s here.”
“Call her. I looked around and saw no one that looked like her.” Anueng was about to before she sees the girl in question.
“She’s over there. Sister Pleng!” Anueng yells out.
“That’s not her” Sam says while the girl in question comes walking towards her. Once she gets close, she takes off her glasses and immediately Sam realizes her error. “Oh shit it is her.” Pleng finally gets close to Anueng, the shorter girl runs to give her a hug.
“Hey Sister Pleng” Anueng says after letting go.
“Hey Anueng. How have you been”
“Good, good. Oh Sister Pleng, this is my sister in law Sam. Or I guess Sister Sam!” Anueng introduces the CEO.
“Hi, it's a pleasure to meet you!” Sam offers a handshake which Plengs accepts.
“Likewise. It’s an… honor to meet another M.L”
“Oh you don’t have to lie, I know you're not a fan of my older sister” Sam bluntly says. “Honestly if she tried that shit with my girlfriend… I would kill her with my bare hands.” Sam starts to think bitterly to herself. “But don’t worry. You don't have to worry about that with me!” she tries to reassure the singer.
“Oh-um. Okay. That’s good to know”
“Yup! C'mon in, we are about to order food. I hope you don't mind that I invited my friends to join”
“Y-you did?” Pleng gets a bit nervous.
“Yeah…do you mind? If you do, I can tell them to get lost” Sam offers. Anueng goes next to Pleng and whispers something in her ear.
“Don’t worry, they’re nice”. This didn’t calm Pleng as much as she wanted, but it did help.
“Okay” she responds to Anueng and then looks at Sam. “I don't mind.”
“Great! They’ll love to meet you!” Sam cheers and the three go into the restaurant. They enter their private room and the other three look up to see the last person invited.
“Siang Pleng?” the girls cry.
“Yup. She is Anueng’s friend” Sam says proudly.
“Oh shit. It’s Siang Pleng. Hello there!” Jiim says going in for a hug that Pleng awkwardly tries to reciprocate.
“It’s great to meet you. We licensed one of your songs for my movie” Kade greets her.
“I saw it. I am a fan of your movies… and my mother was a fan of your mother’s movies” Pleng says.
“Oh wow. Your family must have great taste!” Kade fans herself, embarrassed a little. Tee gets up and offers a handshake.
“Hey cutie. How are you?” Sam swats away Tee’s hand.
“She is also taken!” Sam chastises her friend.
“Fuck! Can’t have shit today!” Tee uncharacteristically yells to everyone’s surprise. She goes back to sitting down, pouting a bit. “But oh! It is still nice to meet you” Tee recovers and greets the singer.
“Uhhh…Likewise.” Pleng awkwardly offers a bow.
“Sit, sit. Oh man. I’m a huge fan. I use your music on my date nights with my husband.” Jim tells her.
“Gross. Don’t tell her that.” Sam shakes her head.
“What’s wrong with that?”
“Like she wants to know you fuck your husband to her songs” Sam chastises her.
“That-that wasn’t. Oh look, you embarrassed the poor girl” Jim points to Pleng who is blushing. “And besides, you were the one who sent it to me and told me you used it on a date with Mon. So guess what, I’m not the only one fucking to her music” Jim points out at Sam.
“Guys, actually stop it” Anueng cuts in and tries to help Pleng.
“Sorry about these two, sometimes they get riled up”. Tee explains.
“It’s…It’s fine” Pleng shifts around awkwardly on her chair. “Anyway, you wanted to talk about working with your company?” Pleng turns to Sam.
“Yes yes. I want to talk to you before you agree to anything with Nita’s Creative” Sam explains.
“Ohh yeah don’t do anything with her. Nita’s a crafty bitch. She might try and screw you over. Sam on the other hand is too stupid do any of that” Tee explains.
“Hey I’m smart! I just don’t lower myself to doing anything unbecoming of my stature” Sam explains.
“Didn’t she manage to steal Mon’s work from you?”
“That was Kirk’s fault”
“Yeah she got your fiance at the time to do it for her. That was some serious skill she had” Tee says before Pleng cuts in.
“Well nothing is set in stone. Mostly my agent was in contact and told them they would give them an answer soon. They wanted me to do an event and-”
“How much will it take for you to reject Nita?” Sam quickly cuts her off.
“Sam, don't cut her off, it’s rude.”
“Sorry I just really don’t want her to work with Nita” she looks at Jim and then goes back to Pleng. “So, how much?”
“Well I don't know. My agent handles all of that. I’ll tell them I’m not interested in working with NIta’s Creative and to set up a meeting with you.” Pleng says.
“Perfect! Great! You won’t regret this!” Sam takes her hand and shakes it. “Now let's order! Jim!” Sam points to her friend.
“Yeah yeah I got it I already know what you like. Have you looked at the menu yet, Pleng?”
“No I’ll look over it now” Pleng scours the menu and looks for something to eat. The waiters come and everyone proceeds to order their food, except for Sam who has someone to do it for her.
“Oh I can’t wait for the food. And don’t worry you two. We plan to make Fuzzy pay for everything” Jim points to Sam.
“I’ll pay for Pleng and Aneung. The rest of you are on your own” Sam retaliates.
“How cruel. Pleng, I don't think you should do business with her.” Jim pouts.
“I don’t know. She’s paying for me. I think we’re still in business”
“Bought so easily? You should value yourself more cutie” Tee flirts.
“Tee. She is taken. Stop” now it was Tee’s turn to pout.
“Alright alright. All this Pleng talk has us distracted, not that you're not interesting and all but now!” Kade dramatically puts her phone down, gets up, and points to Anueng. “Anueng, tell us more about your relationship with Nueng,” Kade reminds everyone. Pleng smiles at the change in topic, while Anueng groans.
“Oh I have a question. Was Neung as bullheaded as Sam?” Jim asks.
“I wasn’t bullheaded. My relationship with Mom was perfect. No difficulties whatsoever. It’s like we were two pieces of the puzzle, destined to connect, as if we were magnetically pulled to one another.” Sam brags while the other tree looks at her in disgust at her lies.
“Yeah no, fuck that. Do you two want to hear embarrassing stories about Sam’s relationship?”
“No no no, they wouldn’t be inter-”
“Yes!”
“...Goddamnit you two” Sam holds her forehead.
“Hmmm. How can we best embarrass Fuzzy here?” Jim thinks to herself.
“Ohhhh. What about the time Sam called Mon a ho” Tee reminds them.
“No no no, we shouldn’t go into-”
“Oh my god Tee that’s good.”
“Who’s Mon” Pleng ask.
“That’s Sam’s girlfriend?”
“You called your girlfriend a ho? Geez, I'm starting to see the similarities between you and Nueng. You both are so harsh” Anueng comments.
“No, it was a misunderstanding.”
“Oh yeah, you thought your girlfriend was going out with your fiance.”
“You…had an affair?” Pleng ask, feeling the familiarity.
“Yes. It was an arranged marriage. I didn’t love him.”
“I see… Well that sounds pretty valid to me!” Pleng quickly looks away. .
“Hmmm. That’s not the usual reaction when Sam says that…” The three girls look at Pleng. “Did you do the same?”
“What! No! I was never married”
“But Wan wassss” Aneung sings.
“Who’s Wan”
“Her girlfriend”
“Hey, that's the name of my doctor!”
“Wait! Pleng! You were the other woman” Jim points out and the other stare inshcok.
“Oh my god…” Pleng started to face palm. As they get their food and drinks, they begin to discuss more about each other. Sam’s relationship with Mon. Anueng’s relationship with Nueng. Jim’s relationship with her husband. Tee’s not so subtle crush on Yuki that she is trying her hardest to deny. And finally, Pleng’s relationship with Wan.
“So wait. Is that Ek dude alive” Kade ask.
“I don’t know… and honestly after he pointed a gun at me. I don’t care” Pleng states, playing with the last of her food.
“Shit. Now I want to use your story for a drama” Kade murmurs.
“Do it and I’ll get the royal lawyers on you” Sam chastises.
“God you and your lawyers are crushing my creative soul” Kade feins hurt.
“Sure thing hippie.”
“Screw you!” Kade yells. Pleng smiles at this. It’s been a while since she had a friend group like this…or at all.
“Oh Pleng. I hope you didn’t mind all this. I doubt this is what you expected when Sam invited you for a business meal”
“Oh no it's fine. I had fun! It’s…It’s been a while since I had a group of friends.”
“Ahhh tell me about it. After high school and college, most of my friends leave and never talk to you again.” Jim complains.
“Oh I didn’t have friends in highschool.”
“Really? Why? You seem like a pleasant girl”
“I-um. Well I was a bitch in highschool” Pleng admits. “And when they found something to make fun of me for, they started bullying me back” the other girls at the table looked at her with concern.
“What about college”
“Didn’t go to college”
“Oh” Again with the awkward silence. Thankfully, Jim knew how to make her feel better.
“Don’t worry Pleng. You have Anueng and you can always hangout with us. Do you want to join our little group?” Jim offers.
“Really?”
“Yeah of course. We love the two of you, and of course you two love us right?”
“Yup. Next time I want embarrassing stories about Neung” Anueng cheers.
“Were there any… Well anyway trust us. We dealt with Sam and she was probably a bigger bitch than you back in the day”
“Hey!”
“And then she became a pain, in different varieties. First she never spoke her mind, and now she doesn't have a filter and is filled with delusion. “
“I am a joy and you know it!” Sam angrily argues.
“Shushh. Now. Pleng, is that alright with you dear.” Jim asks with a smiles. Despite their age being similar. Pleng felt a bit of motherly love that came from the woman. It reminded Pleng of her mother… she wasn’t going to tell the woman, but she liked it nonetheless. Before she could answer, Sam peaks around the corner.
“Say yesss. It’s gonna be good since we will be working together soon” Sam whispers, trying to sway her decision.
“Shut up stupid!” Jim scolds Sam before turning her attention back to Pleng. “Well dear?”
“Yes. I would. Thank you”
“So will I. I bet Nueng wouldn’t mind me hanging out with you guys” Anueng joins.
“Woahhh. We have another celebrity with us” Kade cheers. “Maybe you can do your singer to movie star transition with me!”
“I don’t know. I don’t think I would be a great actor. I never went to acting school”
“Neither have I. Don’t worry you will be great”.
“Stop harassing the girl. C’mon let's order dessert. I have to go in a bit.” Jim reminds everyone.
They finish their dessert. They all exchange numbers. While Jim left. Sam was paying the bill while Kade went to the bathroom.
“Sooo. Want to hang out?” Anueng ask.
“Can’t. Got to talk to my lawyer. Sam is already messaging me to talk to my agent about that collaboration.”
“Awww, but I guess it's fine. I can make something for Nueng when she comes home.”
“It’s fine. You just buy something for Anueng. Right Nueng?” Pleng says to the bushes.
“...Why are you talking to the bushes?”
“I’ll show you. Give me two small rocks” Anueng picks up two rocks, just barely bigger than a pebble. She hands them to Pleng. She looks to the bushes and takes aim, throwing one rock.
“Owh” Then Pleng throws another one. “What the fuck?” Anuneg was surprised when she saw two figures getting out of the bushes.
“Damnit Pleng. Couldn’t you have used something softer”
“You know, this does count as an attack on the royal family!”
“Wan? Neung?” Anueng yells. “You were following us?”
“Uhhhhh” Nueng couldn’t think of an answer and Wan looks away.
“Pleng, how long did you know they were following us?” Anueng asks.
“Just now. I saw them go into the bushes while Jim was calling an uber..” Pleng admits. “Now, how did you know where we were?”
“From love sweetie. My heart will always follow yours.” Wan flirts with her girlfriend.
“Didn’t you fail to find her for thirteen years?” Anueng sticks her tongue out. .
“Okay look you here you little sh-”
“Wan stop. Pleng, we followed you with your phone.”
“How?”
“I don’t know. It’s probably a virus Wan put on it or something. I think she called it the Find My app”
“I never install- You installed a tracker on my phone before you gave it to me?”
“Goddamnit Nueng. Why did you have to snitch?” Wan yells at the older woman. “And yeah I did. I bought it expecting nothing in return except a call here and there, maybe a message, and your precise location at all times. Is that too much to ask?” Wan ask. “Though I guess it doesn’t matter since I’m losing the last part now”.
“Oh please. If it bugs you that much I can help you find another way” Neung tries to calm down Wan.
“Oh? What other way is there?” Anueng ask.
“Your big mouth is gonna get us killed dumbass” Wan whispers to Nueng.
“Shut it. I bet she saw you and you got us caught.” Nueng tries to shift blame.
“Wait Nueng. Didn’t you have an art exhibit to work on?”
“...I was in the area”
“And how did you know I was here anyway?”
“...I have my ways”
“Hey guys, I paid the bill. I was gonna call a taxi for Kade. Do you two need a- Oh hey sis what’s up” Sam waves hi to her sister.
“Young one? What are you doing here?”
“Long story. We were-”
“Oh shit Sam.” Kade follows Sam. “That’s the doctor I was talking about.” she points to Wan.
“Oh nice. This saves me a trip. Excuse me Doctor Wan?”
“Uhhh yes?” Wan ask, taken aback.
“I would like you to give Aneung a full examination. She was sick as a kid so I would need you to go through every nook and cranny with her to make sure she doesn’t die early” Sam asks. Anueng and Wan look at each other, trying to kill the other with their stares.
“...Touch me and I’ll put you in the same hospital room as your ex-husband.” Anueng threatens. Wan gives Pleng a small look before moving her stare back at the youngest one there.
“It doesn’t matter. I don’t need an examination to know all I’ll find is a shit ton of whip marks” Wan grits her teeth. Aneung cracks her knuckles and starts to step forward.
“C'mon you two stop fighting. Anueng. Apologise” Neung ask her girlfriend, and said girlfriend was not impressed.
“Hey Pleng. Wan looked pretty miserable the last time we caught them. You mind tell me what you did”
“Oh sure, you see I-”
“Noooooooooo”
