Meeting the Big freindly Half-Giant

Loneliness, Pain, and Hunger. Those were the main feelings Harry experienced at the dursleys.  Loneliness in the fact that he had no one to be around thanks to his cousin Dudley. Pain in that he was assaulted many times by said cousin and a single time by his aunt by means of a frying pan to the head. And finally hunger, for the weeks one end he was forced to go without food and when he was given food it was always spoiled or almost spoiled. Due to this Harry was near anorexic, you could count everyone of his ribs and his cheeks were sunken slightly and his stomach which on any other eleven year old boy would be pooching slightly with leftover baby fat was concave.

These feelings and strife were what defined the last ten years of his life, until the days when the letters came. Like a swarm of locusts they came flooding into number four privet drive with a vengeance. Eventually Harry's uncle Vernon had had enough of them. He packed his family up and drove them to a deserted island off the coast. Harry was treated horribly during this time because of something his relatives kept from him for years. The night of his birthday when the clock struck midnight a large banging came from the door, scaring the other three occupants of the shack awake. Harry watched as a giant, for what else could be this large, walked into the shack after knocking down the door. The giant stood tall and introduced himself after seeing harry.

“Blimey I haven't seen ya since you were a baby Harry though you don’t look to good if I’m being completely honest with myself” said the giant

Harry looked at the man shocked trying to find the right words for him but settled on asking who he was. The giant replied

“I am Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts. Though I know you, you’d know all about Hogwarts don’t you?”

Harry looked confused before speaking

“Um excuse me sir but what exactly is Hogwarts I’m afraid I don’t know anything about it at all.”

The smile fell from Hagrid's face.

“What do you mean you don’t know about Hogwarts your relatives should have told you about it ages ago, after all your parents went there and were the best students to have ever walked the halls of that school.”

Harry looked surprised at the mention of his parents going to this school because to his knowledge from his relatives they were drunks and not very smart and got killed in a car crash.

“Sir, you knew my parents? They went to this school? What were they like? My relatives say they were drunkards and killed themselves in a car crash and they were then
burdened with me.”

Hagrid's face burned with rage as he looked at the pitiful excuse for Muggles at the stairway.

“You sick twisted muggles! You don’t even have the decency to tell the boy how his parents actually died! That’s it. I was going to wait to take him shopping in the morning but it seems I need to get him out of here tonight.”

Looking at Harry Hagrid spoke in a softer tone

“Harry, get all of your things we're leaving now. I’ll be taking you to gringotts then to Hogwarts. It seems that you need to be told many things tonight, and we also need to get you on a medical plan to get you to being healthier than you are now.”

Harry looked confused, his mind whirling at what was being told. But despite it he obeyed and put his ratted shoes on and stood by Hagrid before speaking.

“Hagrid sir, can you tell me about why you're doing this for me and what type of school Hogwarts is.”

Hagrid smiled softly at the small boy and spoke four words that changed little Harry’s world forever.

“You're a Wizard Harry!”
