She wills herself not to look for him, not to confirm it. Her eyes find him anyway, and she sees that he is at a table with -
With just his friends.
He sees her, and smiles behind his bottle. “Alright, Evans?”
“I thought you were on a date?”
“Nah, realized it wasn’t what I wanted.”
She isn’t even sure why she does it, except that while sitting, his face is nearly level with hers, and his lips are really only a short distance away.
Except his lips aren't a short distance away. They are on hers, and it is perfect.
