“Claire, I was wonde-”
Lily turns and flees from the Great Hall before she can hear the question. She reaches the front door of the castle, prepared to run as soon as she escapes, but there is a voice that stops her from running any farther. “Evans, Merlin, hold on.”
She presses her eyes closed, unwilling to look at him, knowing the tears are only moments away. She can feel him looking at her.
“I thought - I thought this was what you wanted.”
Her voice is a whisper. “I thought it was too.” She runs, and he doesn’t follow.
