"I'm not the arse you think I am."
Lily scoffed, walking away from James toward the girls' staircase, where he could not follow. "Your actions by the lake a few days ago would suggest otherwise."
"That was-" he groaned. "That's not who I am."
"Then prove it." She stared into his eyes, and she saw the resolve harden.
"Maybe I will." She turned to go again. "If I do, will you go out with me?"
She huffed, not turning back. "You've got some nerve, Potter."
It dawned on both of them, some time later, that she never said no.
