Who to send to Hogwarts
Tsunade sat upon her Hokage seat, body bent and hands furiously moving as pile after pile of papers continuously appear and disappear in front of her. Shizune stood beside her, hands full of paper ready for Tsunade’s signature when, with a poof, smoke filled the Hokage office. Shizune cried in alarm alongside the cursing Hokage, hands flying to a nearby kunai.
Tsunade had already leaped into the cloud of smoke to attack the intruder, ignoring the newly arrived ANBU who heard the commotion inside. However, before Tsunade could punch whatever was coming out of the smoke, a small hoot coming from the smoke reached her ears which stopped her punch midway. A beautiful white owl perched elegantly outside of the birdcage, its beady eyes staring at her and made her question its intelligence. Her suspicions mounted when the bird glided to her, the letter it held falling gently to her outstretched hand.
With a wave, she dismissed the ANBU who immediately bowed and leaped outside her window, hidden in the shadows once more. Tsunade turned the letter over and blinked. The Hogwarts insignia was pasted in the sealed letter, confirming her assumption to be correct. There is only one thing that can enter the Hokage office without detection or leaving any traces of foreign chakra behind, and that is the school that taught magic.
Tsunade turned and dismissed the confused Shizune, returning to her seat with a groan.
This is a first for her. She has never interacted with the magical world, though she was familiar, as have every shinobi who sat in her seat and those trusted with by the Hokage.
Unsealing the letter, Tsunade was unsurprised to see the neat handwriting of Albus Dumbledore. What she was surprised, however, was the request. Or, according to the letter, a mission.
Dear new Hokage of the leaf,
First of all, my apologies for breaking the treaty between your world and ours. But I find it prudent that this, sending a letter asking for assistance, needed to be done. Evil has been reborn in our world, one we believed to be dead, but further investigation proved that it be false. I cannot tell much of the circumstances in our world, as most of it is still a mystery to us and cannot be explained in one letter. One piece of information that is not a mystery, however, is the evil one’s interest in one of Hogwart's students.
I implore that the leaf sends us talented shinobis to protect Harry Potter, the target of this evil. By all means, it would be most preferred if you send us a “Jonin”. It is to my understanding, however, that Jonin-level shinobis mostly consist of middle-aged adults. Unfortunately, I would not be able to give them any believable excuse to be in the school as they surely do not know magic and cannot be installed in the school as teachers. They also cannot be installed in any other section as workers as the school is self-sufficient, and any new installment will garner the attention of those we do not want to garner attention from. It is not an insult to your shinobi’s skills in masking themselves nor in their abilities, good Hokage, but the school in which they will reside is arguably alive. There are ghosts and living images that watch the school, and the shinobis you will send will not have time for themselves to relax. I’m afraid it will be mentally taxing for them, and they cannot be tired in their mission. The only cover we can provide would be the transfer of students from an obscured location.
I understand that this is so much to ask, but our world’s evil is very interested in power. We fear that should they realize there are other worlds out there, they might be tempted to travel and seek power in those other worlds. Thus, we find that this evil must be eliminated at once. Harry Potter is important to ensure the evil one is gone forever, and as such, must be protected. Of course, once everything is done, Konoha will be paid handsomely.
Please, dear Hokage. We need your shinobi; we do not wish for more innocent blood to be shed.
Sincerely,
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
P.S. I recommend sending your shinobis no later than tomorrow. I apologize for the promptness, but it has only been recently decided that we require assistance. School starts in less than two weeks, and I believe your shinobis would better adjust if they had a week to prepare here. Also, we only ask for no more than 6 students. Any more might garner attention.
Tsunade frowned. What Dumbledore is asking for is breaking the treaty they have made a hundred years ago. Granted, before this, Tsunade has only heard of fairy tales about Hogwarts, believing the notes in the Hokage archives to be greatly exaggerated. However, now she holds the truth in her hands. And she knows this is not a joke as there are only a select few who knows of Hogwarts.
She leaned back in her seat and groaned. The council will not be amused. Furthermore, Tsunade thought as glanced at the letter, where in the world can she get these non-Jonin talented shinobis? There are only a select few she can choose: The Konoha 12. One of the hidden leaf’s most successful batches. But they have reached an era of peace, and most shinobis in the age Dumbledore seeks, with talent comparable to their Jonins, are either off training to become the heads of their respective clans or in a mission. Team 10, Shino, and Kiba are busy being trained to become their clan's heads and solidifying their positions in their clans. Meanwhile, Team 9 was sent out on a diplomatic mission to Suna, offering their services to Gaara. To have them return to the leaf for a new mission is out of the question. Doing so will only sow dissonance between the villages. Sai has been sent to an S-class mission the month before, and that particular mission will take months to accomplish and can’t be canceled midway.
That leaves Hinata and… Team 7. Tsunade groaned. It’s just her luck.
Hinata is a fine shinobi. Tsunade is sure she will do quite nicely for this mission. Team 7 however...
As if in vengeance for thinking of them badly, the ground shook as a loud explosion spread across the village. Tsunade sighed in annoyance, eyes turning outside her window to predictably see white smoke billowing in the training ground Team 7 prefers to use.
Yes, Team 7 is an impressive group. But as great as team 7 is, they're not the best of choice when it comes to long-term infiltration missions. They just aren't the most... Tsunade's eyes blinked as the huge white smoke turned into a tornado the color of the night sky and illuminated with flickering lightning before ultimately disappearing, causing Tsunade to grimace, subtle.
