Old Friends. New Surprises.
It had already been three weeks, Halloween had come and gone, and Hermione wasn’t any closer to getting the door to appear. She spent most of her days pacing the Requirements Hallway thinking very hard on what she needed. She even went to search for the Grey Lady, but couldn’t find her.
She has visited with the Prewitt brothers on a few occasions now. Getting to know them and coming up with a believable background for her. They only had a few months before the school year was over. She was hoping against hope that she would be out of here by then. She wanted to get to Headquarters before The Marauders finished their year. She’d been thinking in all her pacing on what to do about Peter.
Watching the four of them disappear on the Full Moon and come crawling back in the morning, seemingly unnoticed by their fellow students. She was sure it was from years of similar occurrences. She saw Remius watching her when he thought she was occupied. She caught Sirius following her twice around the Castle. Peter seemed curious about her, but more afraid to be alone than anything. James was preoccupied with Lily to be any trouble. It was any day now that they should be getting together, she thought to herself.
Twirling the chain to the Time Turner in her hands, she wanted to find it. She had to. She didn’t want to destroy the tiara this time though. She wanted to give it back to the school if she could. Help Helena feel better that her Mothers Diadem was no longer fouled with the darkest of magics. She wanted to give back what Voldemort stole, and destroyed.
Hermione stopped in her tracks. It was close to five in the morning, but she heard it. The sound of a door appearing in the hallway. She turned and sure enough the door was there. She could have screamed, she was so happy. She hurried over and slipped in, before it could disappear in front of her. It was just as packed as she remembered. There were chairs, desks, books, tables, standing closets, even extra crates of robes lying about.
She didn’t even know where to start. Harry had told her something about a bust on a table. She started down the first asle she came across and went down it. “Accio Diadem” She walked around repeating herself over and over.
Sirius
He’d become so bored watching Hermione pace back and forth on the map and the boys had grown restless of Sirius hogging the map. He just couldn’t understand what she was here for. Everyone had assumed she’d have been here for a couple of days and then on her way, but it seemed like she’d been here for ages. Most people had forgotten about her, because she rarely came down for meals and stayed on the seventh floor.
Worse yet was the dreams. Her scent of citrus and chamomile constantly up his nose. Even when we went out on the full moon last week. All the way in the shrieking shack she was in his nose. On his mind constantly. He’d followed her the one day he’d seen her on the third floor, walking around. He’d watched her for almost an hour before he ran into James. They’d nearly crashed into each other. James was exiting a classroom and Sirius was so focused on the girl he’d barely missed the door. James had said he was in a study group that had just got out, and pulled Sirius toward the stairs to head to dinner.
He thought about talking to her again, but couldn’t decide on what to talk about. She’d talked around the Order and what she was here for, so he assumed that’s how she would remain. Evasive.
His Mother had written to him once inquiring about Hermione and a family heirloom that was missing from the vaults. He still hasn't replied to her. She had disowned him for receiving inheritance from his Uncle Alphard last summer after running away to the Potters. Called him a Blood Traitor for not being a racist, and associating with people who didn’t care about a blood quantum. He just wanted to be loved, and be happy. The Potter’s took him in, no questions asked. They loved him, and wrote to him asking if he was okay. If he needed anything. He didn’t, but it was very nice to have. To know someone actually cares if you’re taken care of.
Lying on his back staring up at the top of the four posters’ he knew it was early and he should try to get back to sleep, but all he could think about was brushy brown hair that turned gold when the light hit it just right from behind. He wondered what it felt like. “Oi’ Sirius. Are you awake?” he heard a whisper to his left. He opened the curtains around his bed and popped his head out. “Yeah.” he whispered back. “I was really hoping so. Evans and I kissed yesterday. Well she kissed me that is. We were talking about the potions test coming up next week and the next thing I knew..” James trailed off.
Sirius was dumbfounded. Yes James had fancied her since first year, but she had always thought he was slime. After the incident with Snivilus third year he surely thought Evans would never talk to James again. “What did you say for her to do that?” genuinely curious. “I haven’t the foggiest.” James sounded slightly frustrated, popping his head out after another moment. “You wanna go sit down by the fire. Bet you the good chairs are open.” James said, standing to his feet.
Sirius got to his own feet and grabbed his clothes he’d set out for the day. Getting dressed quickly, he met James at the head of the stairs to head down to the common room. “So you and Evans. Are you getting together or are you just fooling like I do. You honestly don’t seem the type Prongs.” James’ ears went bright red and coughed into his hand looking away from Sirius. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. You don’t have the demons I do.” Sirius said honestly.
“I don’t know what we are. I’ve wanted her since I saw her when we got off that first train ride SIrius. She calls to me in a way nothing else ever has.Hell, when we became Anamagi it made it worse. So much worse, but holding her face yesterday while she kissed me.” James' eyes seem to glaze over. “There has never been anything so perfect. I didn’t think I’d be able to let her go, but she pulled away so quickly and went down the hall before I could get a word out.”
“Well it sounds like fate has you wrapped up real good.” Sirius chuckled. James looked at him for a moment as if pondering his words. “Fate..” he whispered to himself. Sirius stared at the fire and the scent of Hermione filled his nose and he thought back to James' words. Since he first saw her. HE shook his head and chuckled again to himself. He was being daft. He’d wanted a great many things more than he wanted to touch the halo of curls, to touch his lips to hers..
“You look like you’re gonna be sick.” came through his very loud thoughts. “What? Oh umm no I’m fine. Just thinking.” Sirius wiped his hands down the front of his pants and wanted very much to get up and go for a walk. “Well we don’t have to keep talking about it if it makes you uncomfortable, Padfoot. I was only-” “NO. No it’s fine just had a thought come out of nowhere and felt like the Whomping Willow slammed me is all. Please talk about whatever you need. I’m always here for you.”
“I’m mad for her, Padfoot. Absolutely mad. She’s the first thing on my mind when I wake up, and the last thing before I fall asleep. Feeling her breath against my face. Pads, smelling her that close was unreal.” James looked him straight in the eye. The two had had many conversations about how their sense of smell was heightened after changing. Peter had agreed too, but was reluctant to talk about it with anyone else around. He always thought they were going to be caught and thrown into Azkaban. “Have you even the slightest idea what I’m talking about, Pads? Have you ever felt this way?” Sirius thought to himself for a few moments. Trying to not think of Hermione and the fact that her scent was always in his nose. How he could find her in a crowd of people without any difficulty. “If it's taking you this long to think of it I don’t think you have, mate.” James sounded apologetic. “No. Well I don’t think so. Can you smell her all the time or just when she’s around?” Sirius asked, paying close attention to Prongs’ face. He nodded his head right away.
“Who is it then, Pads. Who’s the lucky girl that he's your nose?” He chuckled at Sirius. “Your dog jokes are hilarious Prongs, and I don’t know if I should say. I don’t even know her. We’ve had two conversations.” Sirius started talking more to himself than Prongs. “OH come on, I told you a lot about my thing for Evans almost the second I realised it.” he half yelled at Sirius. “You did not. You only just told me the extent of your feelings. I’ve told you my feelings, therefore by comparison I owe you nothing more for six and a half years.” Chuckling to himself.
His friend's face was all screwed up like he was actually upset, but Sirius knew he was only pulling his leg so he’d cave. “I’m not telling anyone about it. At least, not right now.”
“You’re not telling who what?” a voice said from the staircase behind them. They both turned surprised. It was Moony rubbing sleep out of his eyes, seeing him still in his pajamas was always a sight. Sirius had gotten them for Remus and it stirred something in him. Pride that he wore them maybe?
“I can hear you all the way up in our room, I’m surprised you don’t have half the house down here yelling at you.” Stretching his arms over his head and arching his back Sirius got a nice view of the trail of hair from his navel into his bottoms. “Sorry Moony. We were just talking about Evans, and the mystery chick of Padfoots’. He won’t tell me who it is. Told me I have to wait six years before he can tell me.”
Moony’s eyes shifted straight to his and the questions in them were very loud. “I just don’t know Prongs, I don’t really know her. I wouldn’t even know where to start.” leaning to answer both guys. Moony didn’t seem satisfied with his answer, because he didn’t nod or even look away from Sirius. This should go over well. Sirius thought to himself. Moony didn’t break his stare the whole walk over to the loveseat by the fire, sitting down closer to Sirius than James he noted.
“What girl could it be? Not anyone in our year. You’ve been around them for years. Is this why you’ve been so distracted?” Moony looked at Sirius softly. Knowing each other so well, he was sure that Moony knew he was confused and scared. Scared out of his mind. If he was honest wit himself he wasn’t even sure how terrified he was. He had only just came to this realization a few minutes ago with Prongs. How was he supposed to know what this was. He’d never really cared about his partners, well with one exception. He had a small smile on his face when he came back, and glance Moony up and down.
Moony had been watching him daze out and watched the hungry look he gave him when he came back out of it. Moony’s cheeks went ever so red, it could be blamed on him being in front of the fire if Sirius didn’t know better. Sirius had to adjust himself and crossed his legs, folding his hand over himself, drawing Moony’s attention. They both wished James was asleep in bed.
“Ay’ Moony, did you see if Peter was awake? You know how he hates being left behind.” Prongs said, looking at the stairs. “Nah, I heard him snoring and didn’t bother. Was more worried about someone getting McGonagall on you both. Feel free to get him though.” Remus was staring at Sirius with fire in his eyes, and He didn’t mean the one in the fireplace. Prongs got up and started toward the stairs. “Don’t kill each other while I’m gone.” he said before going up the stairs.
Both men looked at each other breathing heavily, listening for their friend to be far enough away. Once he deemed it long enough Remus was standing over Sirius, looking hungry, He pulled him to his feet and pressed their mouths together hard. Sirius’ hand went around and grasped at Remus’ back. Pulling him as close as they could stand. They stood kissing and caressing each other, until they heard Peter coming down the stairs. “Prongs, I don’t understand why we have to be up this early. I was having a rather nice dream.” Wormtail was dressed similarly to James with just a coat over his pajamas.
Sirius was sitting back in the chair. Remus infront of him staring into the fire trying to get his (very visible to Sirius) hard on. “I was sitting as a rat on a pillow and a little girl was petting me. Telling me how much she loves me.” Wormtail was going on about his dream and Moony whispered “Fix your hair.” Before adjusting himself and turning around blocking Padfoot from view for a moment while he shook his hair about, stroking it back into place lightly.
Sirius stood and walked toward the stirs and murmured something about forgetting something upstairs. Hurrying up the stairs Sirius almost tripped twice. Once he got back to their room he was unbuttoning his constricting pants. Taking deep breaths, trying to manage himself.
Hand came around the front of Sirius caressing his cock, lips kissing his neck, teeth scraping lightly across his flesh. Moony stroked in a slow rhythm that drove Sirius crazy. “Who is she then, Padfoots? Who’s got your attention this time?” Moony was whispering softly into his ear. His free hand was holding Sirius to his chest. Pressing his own cock into Sirius’ lower back, grinding into him. “Answer me, Padfoot.” Sirius could hear the Werewolf in the back of Moony’s voice.
“Hermione.” he breathed out trying to not lose himself in Moony’s movements. “It’s Hermione. I can’t get her out of my nose.” Thinking about her at this moment had his cock twitching in Moony’s hand. Both of them were breathing hard. Moony sped up his pace, whispering in Sirius’ ear. “We want her too. He calls for her. Her scent calls to us both Padfoot. You know what that means, yeah.” At some point both of their pants were pushed down and he could feel Moony against him. Moony spit into his hand and started rubbing small circles, lightly probing circles but nothing invasive.
Sirius leaned forward on his bed, taking his cock into his own hand, giving Moony a better view of what he was doing. Resting on his one forearm, ad forehead, Sirius pumped himself, feeling Moony’s cock rubbing against him, sent him over the edge. Sirius was jerking his cock so hard he almost didn’t realize Moony was sliding into him. Standing there, both breathing heavy, and Moony straining to give Sirius a moment to relax around him. Clenching around the other man, Sirius just wanted him to move.
Moony must have seen this as a clue, and rotated his hip, rocking into Sirius. Both gasped and it was like a line snapped. Moony started pounding hard and fast into Sirius. Half hunched over Sirius could feel himself getting close again. Remus was hitting just where it felt the best, then there was a hand on his cock jerking him off again. Sirius was moaning too loudly, Moony pushed him down into the bed to muffle him. “Padfoot I want you to cum for me again. I want to feel it.”
Barely able to hold thought Sirius felt a shot of electricity shoot through him, from his head to his toes, and came harder than he had before. His balls emptying, he felt Moony getting close. He always made sure Sirius was satiated before taking his own pleasure. Grabbing onto his hips, the thrusts became more erratic, until he buried himself balls deep, and finished. Biting down on his lip, Sirius knew he would be sore for a few hours. Remus stayed buried in Sirius for a few moments relishing the moment. “We shouldn’t wait so long next time.” Moony whispered, slipping himself out. They both cleaned themselves up for a few moments before charming the mess away and looking at one another. Smiling at each other, Sirius walked up to Moony and pulled his head close, kissing him deeply. “I don’t know how I feel about sharing you.” Moony whispered, hearing the vulnerability in his voice broke Sirius a little. “Right now you aren’t sharing me with anyone. She barely knows I exist and I don’t have active plans to change that.”
They stood there hugging and kissing for a few more minutes before realizing that they’d probably been gone too long. They both reluctantly separated and Sirius went to grab the map off his bed, and Moony walked to his footlocker and got his clothes out. Sirius sat down and watched. Enjoying the view and wanting to touch, but knowing the time was short.
After Remus had dressed they both descended the stairs. Coming down into the common room they noticed Lily Evans sitting in the chair Sirius had been in, James and Peter sitting and talking to her. Peter gave the boys a side eye, but didn’t look too closely. “So Evans I hear you don’t hate our guy as much as you thought you did.” Sirius said out loud. Lily’s face went bright red, and James shot his head around to stare open mouthed at Sirius.
Composing herself after a moment she stammered “Well of course.. Of course he would tell you . You're his best friend. I shouldn’t be surprised.” The look she was giving James was not a “I love you” kinda look, it was closer to “I will throw you from this tower.” kinda look.
“Oh Sirius, Happy Birthday.” James smiled from the chair across from Lily. He stared at James confused for a moment. Slowly Peter and James took the presents from in their pockets. Handing them out for him to take. Grabbing them from his friends, he smiled to himself. Glancing at Moony, he got a wink. Maybe his world would all work out? He hoped so.
