Peter was sitting on the mattress of the master bedroom’s bed. His fingers were twitching nervously. Had Severus meant what he said ? He honestly didn’t know anymore.
Just a few hours ago, Severus had welcomed two death eaters into their home and had treated him like a slave. He knows Severus told him it was only an act, to protect him from the dark lord, but he couldn’t help thinking it was not.
“What are you thinking about?” He heard Severus’ voice say.
Peter turned around to see Severus leaning against the doormat and turned back around.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it.” He lied dismissively.
“Peter, I know you, tell me what’s wrong.” Severus pleaded.
“I’m okay, Severus. Really”
“I know you’re lying, love, tell me what’s wrong”
“It’s silly” Peter tried to push him off.
“I don’t care, Peter.” Severus assured him.
“I- I just- I have no idea how to feel after meetings like that. You are always so mean and closed off, I don’t know if it is an act or not anymore...”
“Oh, Peter. I love you. I am so sorry you feel that way. But you know if the dark lord ever heard of you and I being together, none of us would live another day.”
Peter looked down, ashamed.
“Peter, look at me.” Severus out his hand under Peter’s chin and lifted his head up. “I love you. More than I’ve ever loved anyone on this planet. You are my whole world. Don’t ever think that I don’t love you. I have finally found you after sixteen years and I don’t intend to lose you again.” Severus said, gazing lovingly at Peter.
“I am sorry Severus, I overreacted.” Peter apologized, on the verge of tears.
“Don’t cry, baby, it’s okay. I understand how it must feel to be treated that way. Just remember it is only an act so that we can make it through this war together.”
“I love you, Severus.” Peter said, leaning up.
“I love you too, Peter.” Severus answered, leaning down to seal their kiss.
