Chapter Two: Musical Storytime
Meanwhile Back In The Potions Classroom... "Severus?" Dumbledore knocked on the door. Dumbledore came into the room. "Where is Miss. Dinas?" Dumbledore asked. "She went to use the restroom. She should be back any minute now." Snape said. Dumbledore nodded. "I guess I will have to catch her later. Tell her to go to my office when she comes back and is finished serving out her detention here." Dumbledore said. Snape nodded as he went back to grading papers. Dumbledore left the room and went back to his office. When she got back, she found Snape with his head down on the desk. 'He actually looks kind of cute, when he isn't trying to yell at anyone.' She thought to herself. She giggled softly to herself looking over at the obviously exhausted professor. (Song: Long Time Traveller- The Wailing Jennys) "These fleeting charms of earth. Farewell, your springs of joy are dry. My soul now seeks another home. A brighter world on high. I'm a long time traveling away from home. I'm a long time traveling here below to lay this body down." She sang aloud as she cleaned the room. Snape softly and very quietly listened to her sing as she cleaned up the room. "Farewell kind friends whose tender care has long engaged my love. Your fond embrace I now exchange For better friends above. I'm a long time traveling here below. I'm a long time traveling away from, home. I'm a long time traveling here below to lay this body down..." She sang as she looked over at Snape who was laying in his chair. "I'm a long time traveling here below, I'm a long time traveling away from home. I'm a long time traveling here below to lay this body down." She sang softly aloud as she finally finished cleaning. Soon she realized that he had fallen asleep. She smiled softly as she summoned a blanket and placed it on him. She gathered her stuff, put it all in her bag. She turned off the lights and left gently closing the door behind herself.
The Next Day... It was just another normal day in class. Snape was teaching and a young blue-eyed Slytherin wasn't paying attention. She was focused on her writing that she didn't even hear the Professor say her name. When she finally looked up she saw an annoyed Professor Snape glaring down at her. "Miss. Dinas, Care to share with the class, what you think is better to be doing in my class than paying attention." Snape said coldly. "Alright then." She said softly as she stood up and walked to the front of the class. "Then please enlighten us." Snape snapped. She stood tall and nodded as she looked down at her diary. "They say home is where the heart is. When you leave your childhood home, your own hometown, your country, you can feel it calling for you, but you could just leave a small piece of you behind. If you are one of the lucky ones - the ones who manage to forget - you'll have a peaceful life. Yet she soon grew cold, she also became a little sad because deep within her heart, she knew that she did not belong in the mortal world." She said as she looked out into the room of students. "The world keeps trying to find a balance. The more you love, the more you hurt. The more you care, the more you break. The more you're happy, the sadder you will become. But with the good times comes the bad, and with the happy times comes the sad." She said softly as she played with her rings that were on her fingers.
"The world keeps turning and twisting, just remember, that one day the world will stop turning and hopefully there will be peace. And don't you ever dare to think that even for a moment that you failed me, you stayed my hand, quelled my rage, you inspired goodness in me, and unlike all the souls I have encountered in the long march of time, I will carry you with me." She said looking at everyone as she blushed shyly. "So I guess that makes your soul and heart immortal. So now lay your head to rest and dream as if you will live forever, and live as if you'll die today. Don't you remember I'm your baby girl? How could you push me out of your world? Lie to your own flesh and your blood? Put your hands on the ones that you swore you loved? So young when the pain had begun. Now forever afraid of being loved. Do not be afraid. You go now where many have gone before you and where even I will go in time. Just know, there will be no more pain. There will be no more heartbreak. And you will find peace." She said reading her poems and thoughts aloud to the class. The class was star struck at what they had just witnessed. One of the Ravenclaw students began to clap. Then the rest of the room joined in. "Interesting. Do you have any more?" He asked her. She nodded. "Would you please share it with us." He said looking at her. She nodded as she turned to a different page in her journal.
"I want you here but I know you can't be, so just know that I love you so much... Beyond what words can describe. Words can change the world. But I noticed you looked sad today. Promise me that you will smile next time. Just know that you can always talk to me. Okay? It doesn't matter how fast you run, the pain will always run faster. Friends are the family we choose, yeah? Is there anything that you would not do for your family. You think that you are the only one who has lost someone. Well, you're not the only one that has lost somebody they loved." She said as she looked up from her book at everyone, they were watching, listening, interested in what she had written in her journal. "But That's the story of everybody. We think that pain is the worst feeling. It isn't, how can anything be worst than this eternal silence inside of me? White is not always light and black is not always darkness. If you tell the truth you won't ever have to remember anything. It's lonely to be more powerful than anyone you know and have to live like a shadow. To be special and have to pretend you're a fool. I know how much he needs me. How much I need him." She looked over at Professor Snape who was sitting on a stool watching her. He looked away frowning as he got up and went over to his desk and sat down in his chair.
"We are like two sides of the same coin. I am the light and you are the darkness. I am funny and you are sad. It's about love and loss, pain and suffering. What love truly is? Change. Good and bad. Hatred. Everything that life is about. But, I was afraid. Afraid of losing the people that I love. Afraid of breaking down in front of the people who don't give a shit about me or my feelings. Afraid of the past being thrown in my face again and again. Afraid of falling in love. I have learned, if something is possible, carry on as planned. Even if it isn't possible, do it anyway." She said softly as she closed her journal and looked at everyone who was in awe. They soon started clapping. "One more, Please?" A Ravenclaw student yelled out. "Sure, Why not?" She said looking over at Snape who just simply nodded his head. She opened her book a new page and began to read it. "We all know one thing. That all things were created, and as such, had a small part of the creator's soul in each creation. When that thing had broken, died, or vanished, it too passed over into their world. It was a feeling something different that I haven't felt before, it had a sense of being, of life. A different take on life, if it could even be called that. And I never minded being on my own. But when you left me something inside of me broke and I wanted to go home, to be where you are, to be close to you." She paused before she continued. "You seem so close, yet you are so far away. Out of my reach. But now I am reaching out to you with every word I say. I hope it gets to you on some type of specific wind that wraps itself around you and whispers my tune in your ear. That it will be able to tell you how much I miss you, and how much I wished that you were here standing by my side. Although you wear a disguise I will be able to find you. Because no matter what you are disguised as my heart will lead me to you." She said finishing the poem as she closed the book and curtsied before returning to her seat, sitting down as she looked up at Professor Snape. Snape sighed as he continued to teach the lesson. 'She can sing and she can write.' Snape thought to himself as he looked over at the girl every once and a while. 'Maybe she won't be such a bad apprentice after all.' He thought to himself. She took all of the notes she needed then began to do their assignment.
Once she was finished she handed it in. Snape looked up at her. "The Headmaster wanted to speak with you." Snape said. "You may go to his office, now." She nodded and went over picked up and cleaned up her stuff before grabbing her bag and leaving. She walked out of the classroom. Ama flew over to her, she had a letter tied to her leg. Raven took the letter and placed it in her bag. She walked to the statute. She looked up at the statue. "Lemon Drop." She said the password as the statue revealed the staircase. She went up the stairs and to his office. She stopped for a moment before she finally knocked on the door. "Who is it?" Dumbledore said. "It's Raven Dinas, Headmaster." She said, he quickly came over and opened the door. "Come in, Miss. Dinas." He said as he moved out of the way. She walked in and sat down on his couch. He shut the door, walked over and sat next to her. She looked at him. "How can I help you, Sir?" She asked. "About something that will help you in your current situation." He said as held up a piece of parchment. "What do you mean?" She asked looking confused at him. "You have excellent grades. I was wondering if you would like to be the Potions Master's Apprentice." Dumbledore asked looking at her. "Is that okay with Professor Snape?" She asked looking at the headmaster. "Yes, he is the one that recommended the idea for an apprenticeship." Dumbledore said. She blushed softly looking at him. "Then it would be my pleasure." She said. Dumbledore smiled and looked at her before signing the bottom of the parchment. "May I go back to class now?" She asked. "Yes, you may Miss. Dinas." He said as he opened the door with a wave of his wand. Raven smiled softly as she curtsied then left his office. She went down the staircase and headed back to Potions with Professor Snape. She walked into the Potions Classroom and went back to her seat. She set her bag down gently on the desk as she opened it. She took the letter out of her bag, she opened it and began to read it.
'Dear Slytherin R,

She read the letter smiling. She set down the letter as she grabbed her notebook. She then magically placed a copy of his letter into the notebook. The bell rang signaling that class was over. "You are dismissed. But I want a full parchment on the effects of the potion that was assignment today." Snape said looking at the students who were packing up their stuff. The students left. She stayed at her desk as she started working on writing her response to his letter.

Raven wrote down on a small piece of parchment smiling as she looked around the room. She copied her letter into the notebook magically. She rolled it up and tied it with her hair ribbon. The bell rang signaling that class was over, she got up and left the room, she then summoned Ama. Ama took the letter and flew away knowing the destination. She grabbed her notebook, placed it into her bag and went to the Great Hall. She sat down next to her friends and showed every one that was involved what had been happening. "What should my next task be?" She asked her friends. Jenny and Kimmie smirked evilly. "You know about the upcoming Halloween bash, right?" Kimmie said smiling. "What if you just invite him to meet you there?" Jennie said. "And since you both would be wearing masks and costumes. No one would know it's you." Kimmie continued. Raven smiled as she looked at her friends. "That's a great idea girls. And I know exactly where to go to get the perfect costume." Raven said as she giggled happily. "We are going to Hogsmeade." She said giggling.
