Note
A big thank you goes to my sisters who encouraged me to keep writing and are the biggest fans of this story. This is my very first idea for a fic and I began writing last year in April. Over one year and a half, I wanted to write other stories, so I have let this story slide for a while. I’m glad, it’s finally finished and I’m proud of this work, it’s my baby. I hope you all enjoy reading. Disclaimer: I don't own the characters of this story. No copyright infringement is intended.

Just what had happened?

Draco slowly awoke from his trance like state. He didn’t know how he got into his room. From the sun that was shining brightly through the south facing window he guessed it to be midday.

He barely remembered Sirius Black and Harry Potter leaving the house after lunch – Draco couldn’t bring himself to eat anything – in high spirits. Why were they at Malfoy Manor again? Oh right. Harry Potter was his fiancé as of now. Draco snorted. Absurd. Utterly ridiculous. That must be a phantasie. A not so amusing dream.

The blonde pinched his left arm. It hurt. Draco looked increduously at the red spot at his forearm. From there his gaze trailed to his hand. There was a ring on his finger. It fit his finger like it always belonged there. The ring had the Slytherin colors. Silver platin and a green smaragd. ‘Mmh, romantic. Silver just like my eyes and green just like Harry’s eyes. That’s quite nice’, Draco thought absentmindedly.

‘Wait, what?’ Draco didn’t like this train of thoughts. Although the ring was undeniable beautiful what the ring symbolized was just outrageous. He was engaged. To none other than his rival whom he had decided to ignore this year. How could he ignore him now? And what about exploring his sexuality?

The blonde wanted to experience some more variation before being tied down to his significant other. He knew he wouldn’t get much of a choice in choosing a lifelong partner. Malfoys always had arranged marriages. But he hoped to have more time to relish his freedom.

Draco definitely had not suspected Potter a possible match. As far as he knew, Potter hated him. They were always fighting in school and Draco never missed a chance trying to humiliate the raven-haired boy. He was sure Potter didn’t have a change of heart and had fallen for him – though anyone in his right state of mind had to admit that he was gorgeous if you ask him.

Black had spoken of an alliance. That must be it. For the sake of war Potter and Draco were sacrificed. It was a brilliant tactic of the Order of Phoenix to gain a powerful ally. Very cunning – very Slytherin – of them. Well, if it would help to get rid of the Dark Lord and save the fashion industry, who was Draco to object? His father and his stupid Potter-obsession wouldn’t allow him to back out anyway.

The blonde sighed deeply, staring at the stone on his ring. At least Potter was handsome. From what Draco had seen today, the green-eyed boy was real eye candy. ‚There you go! Focus on the pros’, the blonde applauded himself. What else? Though a halfbood, Potter was a descendant of a noble pureblood family. And rich. And powerful for he defied the Dak Lord many times at such a young age. And everybody – not Draco – worshipped him. Whoever would be partnered with the saviour of the wizarding world would get lots of attention. And Draco liked being in the spotlight. All in all, Potter was a good catch, purely objective of course. He could do worse.

Sighing again, the Malfoy heir sat at his writing table and arranged a sheet of parchment. With elegant and curvy handwriting he began to explain to Theo that their relationship could not longer continue.
