Getting home to you
Even Sirius wouldn’t have believed it if someone told him he would be the first up in the morning. On vacation… Before six… Before James.
But here he was, all his bags already packed, waiting for all his friends to get up so they could leave for the airport. Sirius had loved their little getaway from London. Nine days in Italy, beach, sun, getting drunk every night and wondering the next morning how the hell they got back to the hotel.
Sirius loved it.
But he also misses Remus. Remus who had stayed in London to work. Which was absolutely unfair if you asked Sirius. But no matter how much he had begged and begged for Remus to join them, the other man had shook his head with a smile and said no.
And Sirius got it, he really did. Remus needed to work to get through his studies, but it was still unfair.
So Sirius had kissed Remus goodbye the morning of their flight, promised to stay safe and keep him updated.
And yes, the nine days were amazing. He got tan and only burned his shoulders and the tip of his nose. He had been hungover way too many times in a week, but regardless of that the trip had been full of great memories. But oh, he was so ready to be back in home, back with Remus and their cats.
So he waited and stared at the James Potter shaped lump under the covers. Sirius knew he had been awake for a while already. He was the one who had stopped the alarm in the first place.
Sirius sighed and pulled his phone out.
Sirius:
are any of you others awake yet??????
He waited until two minutes later he got one singular answer.
Marlene:
Im pretty sure death is something closer to what im feeling.
But me and mary sadly are.
Sirius huffed and glanced at James who was starting to move more.
Sirius:
james isn’t up yet
Marlene:
no wonder
he was inhaling those tequila shots last night like they were water lmaooo
Sirius heard James groan and then the other man sat up with his eyes still closed.
“Good morning James,” Sirius said purposely too loudly. James winced and ran a hand over his face.
“Stop yelling,” he mumbled and threw the covers to the side. Hungover James was funny, because he was also the only one of them who swore he didn’t get hangovers. And then the next morning was the grumpiest, or as grumpy as James the ball of sunshine Potter could be.
Sirius glanced at the time from his phone. They weren’t late yet, but they all would have to get going soon if they wanted to keep it that way.
“Why are you even awake yet?” James said with yawn as he walked past Sirius on his way to the bathroom. Sirius struggled with a grin.
“We are going home”
James rolled his eyes and closed the door.
-
Regardless of James' condition he still somehow managed to play his role of being airport dad. He was walking five steps ahead of all of them others and had taken Sirius’ passport away from him the second they left their hotel. Sirius didn’t get why he was the only one losing his passport privileges when Marlene had been the one to run back to their room to get her forgotten passport.
They made sure their gate existed before heading to find something overly priced to eat.
Sirius:
at the airport, currently eating:)) james took my passport AGAIN!!!!!!!:((((
Sirius took a sip of his Sprite and laughed a little as Marlene flopped to sit down next to him with a pained groan.
“I swear I won’t drink anything for the next month or so,” she whined and stole a chip from James who looked at her offensively. Marlene just grinned back at him.
“Yeah,” Mary mumbled with her sunglasses on from where she was pretty much laying on her side. Sirius wasn’t feeling too good either, but his excitement to get back home was somehow holding back his hangover. Or something else that had decided to bless him that morning.
“Or we could go and get some beers to ease this hell,” Dorcas said with a smirk. That got Mary to sit up and then the two girls were already off. Sirius' phone vibrated on the table.
Remus:
Good, I told him to take it from you
Sirius:
Uuhhh rude?????
Remus:
I’ll see you later <3
Sirius smiled and sent him a punch of different coloured hearts.
“I’m actually feeling better,” James stated but still took a sip of the beer Mary sat down in front of him. Sirius raised his eyebrows, not really believing him at all.
“When was our flight again?” Sirius asked just to piss James off. It was the third time he asked.
“Forty seven minutes,” James answered after checking the time from his watch. Sirius nodded and stole Marlene’s pint even though he had his own.
“I think we should get drunk on the plane,” Mary thought aloud. She had already finished half of her own pint. Marlene nodded her head violently the same time Dorcas let out a disagreeing noise.
“I don’t think the flight attendants would like that”
“Well, like comfortably tipsy then?”
“And how were you planning on getting home again?” James asked and turned around to look towards their gate. It was like the tenth time he did it even though they couldn’t even see it from where they were sitting. Mary bit her lip and took her sunglasses off before turning to Sirius with a begging look.
“You and Remus could take me right?”
Sirius wrinkled his nose.
“Yeah, no,” He said immediately. “I wanna get straight home. Take an uber, bitch”
Mary gave him the finger and turned to James.
“You and Regulus then?”
James struggled.
“I guess. You’re not that far away from us so”
Mary gave Sirius a pointed look.
“See that’s what you were supposed to answer”
Sirius just rolled his eyes and tapped his phone to see his phone screen. He looked at his screensaver and smiled. It was his favourite picture of Remus of him sleeping on top of Sirius' stomach, his arms wrapped tightly around Sirius’ middle. His hair is all over the place from sleep and from Sirius running his fingers through it. He wore a peaceful smile on his lips and overall the photo was so soft and lovely.
“You’re so whipped, god,” Marlene said as she saw Sirius looking at the picture with a fond and lovesick expression. Sirius glared at her.
“It’s been nine days and you’re like you haven’t seen him for a month”
“Shut up,” Sirius said as his cheeks grew warm. “I just miss him.”
“Nine days,” Marlene said and shook her head with an amused smile.
“Please like you weren’t crying when you didn’t see Dorcas for four days. You aren’t any better”
Marlene raised her eyebrows and poked his side.
“Whatever,” she mumbled.
“Guys,” James said and glanced at his watch again. “I think we should go to the gate, so we aren’t late”
Mary groaned and put her sunglasses back on her face and drank the rest of her beer in one gulp.
“It’s not like someone will take our seats,” Dorcas said and yawned. Sirius laughed at James and his hysterical behaviour.
“You’ll never know,” James said and got up. “Come on guys, let’s get moving.”
The four of them groaned but followed hurrying James to their gate.

So
Maybe, just maybe Sirius had gotten a little bit more than tipsy on the plane. But it wasn’t his fault. Mary who sat next to him had kept ordering sparkling wine and beer and everything she just had felt like ordering and that had sounded good on the menu. And Sirius had just drank everything that had been put in front of him and before he even realised he was drunk. Not like drunk drunk, but still way past the tipsy they had talked about in the airport.
But Mary wasn’t actually any better than him with the way she was giggling to herself for nothing.
“I think I’m a bit drunk,” Sirius whispered to Mary and giggled too. It was ridiculous and the older woman sitting next to Mary eyed them judgingly.
Mary laughed and covered her mouth with her hand. “Bitch, me too.”
Sirius leaned his head to the headrest.
“James is going to be so mad when he sees us,” Sirius said, but still laughed and earned them another look from the woman. Sirius looked at her with a grin which she didn’t seem to like too much either. James was sitting in the front of the plane with Dorcas and Marlene so the three of them had no idea what was happening in the back.
“Maybe he took a drink too,” Mary said and looked at the older woman with a pointed look. “You know to ease himself a bit”
Sirius fell into a fit of giggles and leaned his head on Mary’s shoulder who was shaking too as she laughed silently.
“Only half an hour to go and then we are back in depressing London,” she sighed after they both had calmed down.
“Half an hour till we are back in lovely London where my lovely boyfriend is waiting for me”
Mary rolled her eyes and pushed his head off from her shoulder.
“I hate happy people in relationships”
“Nooo,” Sirius said way too loudly and the lady immediately shushed him down.
“Sorry sorry,” he said, not actually caring about the woman. He knew he was being a bit rude, but he was also drunk and didn’t actually care. “But no you love me honestly”
“Ew,” Mary murmured. And then as the drunken mess she was turned to the woman on her other side. “What are your thoughts on gay people?”
Sirius slapped his hand over his mouth with wide eyes. She was already pissed and by the looks on her face she wasn’t too happy with Mary’s question. She just huffed and turned towards the aisle.
“Not anything positive then, I see,” Mary said and shook her head. ”I personally think gays are lovely.. well expect this one here, but well”
Sirius stopped laughing and punched Mary’s arms who let out a yelp.
”Let’s order something to drink, I’m thirsty,” Mary said ignoring Sirius and took the drink menu from the folding table.
-
”Are you to fucking drunk?” James gasped just as they got out of the plane. Sirius and Mary looked at each other and then bursted out laughing.
”Us? No, not at all,” Mary said sarcastically and almost stripped on the stairs that led down to the ground. Sirius quickly took a hold of her elbow, but stumbled himself too so James had to catch both of them.
“And I thought two glasses of champagne was too much,” Dorcas joked as she took Marlene’s arm. Then Sirius got a great idea and took off running towards the doors, but then, like the clumsy drunk he always was, fell face first to the ground. He heard a gasp and then James was pulling him up from his hand while Sirius just laughed.
“We are never letting you two sit next to each other on the plane again,” James murmured and glared towards Mary who was on the ground too laughing her ass off.
“Oh come on Prongsie that was fun,” Sirius said and heard how his own speaking slurred a little. It felt like the last drinks were only just hitting him now.
Remus would either find it funny or be just annoyed with him. But at the moment Sirius wasn’t in the right mindset for worrying so he just let James lead him inside by the hand.
Waiting for their luggages to arrive felt like forever and at some point Sirius had given up with standing and had decided to just sit on the floor. Marlene tried to get him to stand up claiming that he was embarrassing them all, but Sirius just struggled and pulled his phone out. He had gotten two messages from Remus while they had been on the plane.
Remus:
I’m leaving for the airport!
Remus:
Arrived and waiting for you sweetheart
Sirius wanted to burst out crying and tried to not blame it on his drunkenness, but put his phone back in his pocket before the tears could actually come. He sighed and turned to see how many of their luggages had already arrived.
“Are we ready soon?” he whined and let out another sign.
“Yeah this is boring,” Mary commented from where she was leaning on Marlene’s side.
“We’ll have to wait for Dorcas’ luggage and then we are done,” James said. “Oh there it is!” he said as he spotted the luggage covered with different kinds of stickers. Sirius stood up quickly not even taking his own things with him but walked towards the doors that would lead them to where he knew Remus was waiting for him.
“Sirius, wait!” Marlene yelled, but he determinedly walked towards the doors. He scanned around the room and just as he spotted the familiar head of curls he took off running again, this time making sure he wouldn’t fall.
“Remus!” he yelled before crashing against the other man's body. Remus wrapped his arms tightly around him and lifted him off the floor to spin them both around. It was really cheesy and they probably looked ridiculous, but Sirius didn’t care, only hugged Remus tighter.
Sirius let out a whine as Remus put him back to the floor and pushed his face to Remus’ neck, taking the familiar sweet smell of him to his lungs.
“Hi,” Remus breathed as he pulled off.
Sirius grinned widely.
“Oh my god there was this old woman in the plane sitting next to me and Mary and she was so pissed the whole flight. Like okay maybe we were a bit annoying but she had no reason to glare us as badly as she did”
Remus looked at him with a curious look on his face. His eyes scanned over Sirius rosy cheeks and lopsided smile and breathed out.
“Are you drunk?”
Sirius grinned again and looked down to the floor.
“Err.. no? Well maybe a little, okay yeah I am.”
Remus raised his eyebrows and shook his head.
“You got drunk on the plane?” he asked amused and Sirius bit his lip.
“No hangover?” he offered and Remus laughed, but leaned closer to press a lingering kiss to his lips. Sirius completely melted and leaned his whole weight to Remus who wrapped his arms around him. Then he pulled off and wrinkled his nose.
“You taste like a mix of cheap wine and champagne.”
“Pretty sure it was actually sparkling wine,” Sirius corrected and Remus hummed.
“Where are your bags?”
Sirius didn’t answer, just pressed himself back to Remus’ chest and closed his eyes. He wasn’t even home yet, but he felt like home already with Remus who ran a comforting hand up and down his back.
“Sweetheart, where are your bags?” Remus asked again more quietly and pressed a kiss to the top of Sirius’ head. He hummed and turned to look behind his back.
“James”
“James has your bags?” Remus asked and started looking for James.
“Yeah,” Sirius whispered and let out a needy whine as Remus stepped away probably as he saw James somewhere. Remus laughed and wrapped his other arm around Sirius as he started walking.
“Ahh there you are,” Sirius heard James say and handed Remus all of Sirius's stuff.
“Are you drunk too?” Remus asked and looked James up and down who shook his head.
“Nahh, just Mary and him. We should never let those two sit by themselves again”
Remus huffed and looked at Mary who was snoozing off on Marlene’s shoulder. “Probably for the best, yeah,” Remus said and looked at the state of clingy Sirius and sleeping Mary.
“Can we go, Moons?” Sirius whined again and pressed his nose to Remus’ neck. Remus squeezed his hip and nodded his head.
“Is Regulus coming to get you?” Remus asked James.
“Yeah, me and the other drunken mess”
Remus nodded his head. “Yeah that’s good.”
Sirius whined again and earned a laugh from Remus. He was growing impatient. He wanted to get home to their bed to sleep and cuddle Remus.
“Okay we better go before this one gets mad,” Remus said and took Sirius’ luggages handle. They said goodbye to the others and got going.
“Text me!” James called after them. Sirius didn’t know which one of them he was talking to, but nodded even though James couldn’t see it.
As they got to the car Sirius sat on the passenger seat as Remus loaded the trunk with his stuff.
“Ready to get home?” Remus asked as he closed the front door and started the car. Sirius hummed with a smile.
“Is Milo home?” Sirius asked, referring to their cat.
“Of course he is”
“Good, I wanna cuddle both of you”
Remus laughed as he put the turn signal on, turning away from the airport and towards London’s centre.
“Sounds good, sweetheart”
It was nice to go on trips but it was almost better to get back home.
