Compulsion
Victoire rubbed the tiredness from her eyes, determined to make a start at last on the Veela book she'd risked obtaining from the Restricted section. Between schoolwork, Quidditch practice, and her four different love interests; Victoire found it difficult to make time to investigate her Veela heritage. Perhaps a part of her had been avoiding it on some level as well because she feared what she'd learn on some primal level. But tonight, she sat upright in her bed, muttering 'lumos' as she flipped the book open. Here goes nothing, Victoire thought.
Veela are a magical species of fae or nymphs native to Eastern Europe that appear as ethereally beautiful women. When angered, they can appear as large-beaked birds that wield fire. There are four different category of Veela: water Veela, air Veela, fire Veela, and earth Veela. The subset of Veela one might belong to is unpredictable; it is not dictated by birth into a certain environment or genetics. During the author's participant observation through the course of writing this book, it was found that several different Veela born in the forest to earth Veela ended up leaving their clan upon their Revelation; dispersing to their true clan once realized. For more on the highly taboo topic of a Veela's Revelation, turn to page 27.
Victoire's heart immediately began racing as her fingers found the correct page. Though she knew knowledge was power, she feared what the page would reveal about some part of her heritage. Some part of her. She took a steadying breath before she continued reading.
All Veela go through a process known as Revelation in which they learn which element of Veela they belong to. The element to which they are most drawn indicates the Veela clan in which they will have most success meeting their best-matched mate to produce offspring; or in rare cases their soul mates, according to ancient Veela lore. The Revelation process involves a Veela allowing her instincts to take over by spending time around the element she's most attracted to, and letting her sensual nature to takeover while in that environment. There is no specific age for a Veela to go through her Revelation process; though it never occurs before adulthood and happens only when a Veela feels most beautiful and contented with herself from a place of true inner confidence. A Veela announces in a formal ceremony which element she's most attracted to, then seeks out a clan in that environment or starts her own clan. However, in rare cases, Veela may experience a True Revelation in which she is drawn to an environment as if compulsively magnetized to it; and her soul mate will be drawn to her there, too. All Veela can attract partners through song and dance; but such skills will not work on those with true soul mates who will instead feel an attraction towards the Veela that neither will be able to deny without experiencing horrible agony. It's very rare that Veela meet their soul mate, but if they do, they take part in a sexual ritual within the environment of the Veela's element that bonds them together permanently, incorporating the element during their intercourse.
Vic shut the book, taking a moment to process all of the information she'd just learned and connecting it to her own experiences. Victoire thought about the elements and how they related to her. She'd always loved the sea and found so much calm within it, counting herself lucky that her home Shell Cottage stood right on the sea. Not to mention how relaxing she found baths, and how much she'd enjoyed sex with Link in the Prefect's bathroom...
Victoire put a hand over her mouth. Surely, most people love the sea and baths, and her enjoyment of them doesn't necessarily represent some sort of Veela urge? She thought of air next, and how free she felt while flying on her broomstick with Kit. The connection felt harder to ignore or dismiss as coincidence. She bit down on her nail, contemplating fire next - Salvatore's fire tattoos didn't quite qualify as representing the element itself, though their connection had been forged near the flames under their shared cauldron during Potions; and they certainly had a heated quality to their every interaction. She then contemplated earth, and how when she was following Salvatore into the forest, she felt an urge to run barefoot through the trees and spend more time in there than wise. Her lure to earth immediately made her think of Teddy's warm, earthy brown eyes; the cold, stone tunnel they met in weeks ago the place they confessed their feelings for one another at last.
Even if Victoire allowed herself these connections - what did it mean for her? Could it be possible that her Veela ancestry was beckoning her towards 4 different alpha men in order to find some sort of biological best match? Fuck that. She was too young to even think about having children. But what if she was going through her Revelation process? It was true that when she had dyed wisps of her hair blue, it made her feel beautiful and confident in a way that empowered her - and a visceral sort of tingling sensation from deep within her. It was also true that she felt called to four men in a way that caused her agony to think about not being with any one of them.
When Vic had shown Jade the relevant pages of the book the next morning, she was - for perhaps the very first time in her life - speechless. She sat with her mouth hung open, a bolus of toast within her mouth threatening to fall out.
"Please, Jade. Swallow your toast then say something."
Jade gulped, though her silence pressed on for a moment longer. "Well - you're still my idol for making four of the hottest guys in school drool over you. But if it turns out this is just some rare Veela compulsion, that makes it a bit less impressive, doesn't it?"
Victoire breathed out a laugh, grateful for her friend's ever-reliable nonjudgemental attitude towards her unorthodox romantic situation.
"But if it turns out that one of them is your soulmate, then that's pretty fucking special. And you shouldn't pass down any opportunity to explore that possibility further."
Victoire smiled at Jade and thanked her, Jade's reassurance and support meaning the world at a time when she felt scared and perhaps judged herself more harshly.
"Always, babes. Now don't think about it too much - you've got a match to win," Jade smirked.
The day of the Gryffindor-Ravenclaw match had arrived, and admittedly Gryffindor's team was excellent this year. Unfortunately, Ravenclaw's keeper was out on an injury and their replacement was rather lackluster. Victoire tried to get her head in the game, leaving her Veela concerns outside of the pitch.
She met Kit right before the match began and he looked her up and down in an overtly sexual way that made her nipples harden and her pussy give a throb of need. He came close enough to whisper into her ear amid the roaring crowd, "How about this, Weasley: if Gryffindor wins, you let me take you for a joy ride you won't forget on my Nimbus." His wicked grin indicated that he meant his broomstick as a euphemism for his dick, though with Kit she could never really tell.
"And if Ravenclaw wins?" she asked.
"Name you condition, babe. But it's gonna be a win-win for the both of us I win - I promise you that."
Her stomach flipped at the memory of her legs spread wide for him, his fingers and cock filling her deliciously. She shook her head as if to clear it, trying not to get distracted before the game. "If I win, you have to invite me to you next house-elf kitchen party with Knobbles."
Kit laughed, holding out his hand. "Deal."
