Coming out
Sunday, June 30th, 1976
Severus looked at his boyfriend, Narcissa, and Lucius. The three of them were sitting together at the moment because Severus had finally decided to come out to his friends. Remus was there for moral support, and a bit more, as promised.
"Hey, guys." Remus said, calling attention to himself. "Me and Sev just wanted to tell you two we're dating."
"Oh." Narcissa replied lightly.
"Cool." Lucius didn't even look up from were they were fiddling with the pronoun pin sitting on their shirt.
"Is....Is that it?" Severus questioned, still terrified.
"Um....Congratulations." Narcissa offered.
Remus smiled. "I think Severus wants you to ask more specifically about orientation."
"Oh!" Lucius understood, looking up at the other teens "You mean you want us to ask if you're like gay or whatever?"
Severus nodded.
"I kinda thought you were gay, Sev. And, don't take this the wrong way, but you seem bi to me, Remus." Narcissa informed.
"I seem bisexual?" Remus asked humorously.
"....Yeah....You're like a sexy bisexual librarian." Lucius expanded.
Remus couldn't help but blush. But, before he could respond, Severus began speaking.
"....You....Already knew?"
Lucius looked sheepish. "Yeah, sorry."
Severus kinda felt like crying. He knew he was lucky to have their support, but....It kinda felt horrible that they were just able to guess his sexuality correctly. Like it didn't matter. Like he was ridiculous to even consider coming out.
"Are you okay?" Remus asked, looking more concerned than happy now.
"I-um, yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." Severus informed, but his voice gave him away. He was not fine.
"What's wrong?" Narcissa asked, regretting ever saying anything about it.
"Nothing! I'm just....It's just....It's really nothing....I just....The emotions from coming out is all...."
Lucius didn't seem any more convinced than the other two, but they recognized that right now wasn't the time to press for more answers. "Okay, if you say so."
Narcissa picked up on it as well and decided to change the conversation. "Back to Remus being a 'sexy bisexual librarian'. Are you trying to break up two relationships here?" She laughed.
