Most of Severus's right fist was stuck in his mouth, and he was chewing on his knuckles anxiously. It didn't help that Remus was looking at him expectantly. Severus had told him that there was something he wanted to say, but he was now regretting it.
"Sev? Are you okay?" Remus eventually asked.
Severus nodded, even though he could barely breath. Whether that was from anxiety or his mouth being blocked, was unclear.... It was probably both.
Eventually Severus removed his hand from his mouth. He had to tell Remus! He just had to!
"Are you ready now?" Remus asked, supportively.
Severus nodded. "I-I'm sorry. I just don't want you to hate me or break up. But...I really want you to know this."
"Severus I highly doubt this is going to make me hate you or make me want to break up. I love you. That's hard to destroy."
Severus nodded, not really believing it. "I....I've realized....I think I'm....I mean I know I'm....God damn it! I'm asexual!"
"Oh." Remus replied, lightly. "That's all? I mean, it's a big deal, but not in a bad way. I'm proud of you. Definitely not angry, let alone to the point of hating you. And I do not want to break up."
"Really?"
"Really. I promise, something like gender and sexuality will never scare me off. I love you for you, no conditions."
Severus swallowed the lump in his throat, or at least tried to. "Th-thanks Remus." He said very softly.
"Of course, Sev."
Remus didn't know what else to say, but he really didn't need to say anything else. What he said before was more than enough. It was for Severus at least, and that's what mattered.
