Is this okay? (The Owl House)

Luz was pacing in front of the Owl House, unsure if she was going to be able to go through with this. As soon as she was stuck in the Boiling Isles, Eda had taken her under, well, under her wing. All Luz wanted to do was repay the favor. Amity, her cotton candy haired goddess had said that this was a good idea after she had explained it to her.

Don’t get Luz wrong here, she would jump into a pit of lava if the witch had asked her too, that’s how much trust she had in Amity. But even that wasn’t enough to quell her nerves.

Luz had been working various odd jobs throughout the year, trying to save up money in order to show her appreciation to everyone who had shown her kindness. Especially Eda.

Once she had calculated the day it was on Earth, Luz knew that she had to do something. So, she did the only thing she could. The human had dashed to the market, shouting apologies to the grumbling creatures that she bumped into. Willow had waved hi to her, but all she could manage was a nod of her head.

Finally, Luz arrived at the stall she was looking for, and paid the man whatever price he had asked. A smile broke out on her face at the sight of the Earth-like roses, but it soon left after one of the rose head bit her hand.

Blood trickled down her wound, staining her shoes, but hey, at least the flowers looked nice!

After that, Luz had gone and picked up some paper and a pencil from the school, scribbling down a quick mother’s day card, before snatching some chocolate that she had found in the teacher’s lounge.

All of that, led the human here. Pacing on the ground as Hooty watched her, wisely choosing not say anything as he remembered her punching abilities.

In a spur of the moment decision, Luz scrambled and knocked on the door, cringing as she realized that she could walk in. For goddess sake, she lived!

Luz made to run but Hooty tripped her just as the Owl Lady opened the door.

“Luz? Why did you knock? You live here, kid.” She said, a smile breaking out on her face which showed off her golden fang.

“Oh, yeah. Sorry about that Eda…” Luz said, laughing nervously as her face turned bright red.

“Are you getting sick? Hold up, are those flowers? Boots will love them! You romantic, you!”

Alright, here goes nothing.

“Well, these aren’t exactly for Amity?”

“Do you have another girl? I swear-“

“These are for you! Happy mother’s day!!” Luz said, springing up and shoving the card, chocolate, and flowers into Eda’s arms.

Luz felt like her face couldn’t get any more red, but suddenly, arm encircled her. It was Eda.

“Thank you Luz! I love them, kid.”

“No problem, Ma!”

Luz turned away, realizing what she said, but Eda pulled her back in, tears streaming down her face. The brown haired girl as she felt the tears on her head.

“What’s the matter? Did I mess up? I’m sorry! Please, don’t leave me!” Luz screamed, also beginning to cry.

“Nothing is the matter. These are happy tears. You are the best damn kid.”

Luz began to cry harder, a mix of happy and sad. Sappy? Eda rubbed her small back until the tears stopped.

“Let’s talk about why you thought I was going to leave you.”

“You know the answer.”

“Your mother?” Eda asked, smiling sadly.

“Can we go inside and watch something on the crystal ball?”

“Of course, kid. Go grab some snacks!”

Eda watched, feeling angry at whomever would dare hurt this kid. Now that she was Luz’s mom, that would never happen again.
