The group of three walked into the adoption center, Luz leading the way while Eda and Raine trailed behind, holding hands. A witch with purple skin and four eyes looked over the counter at them, a tiredness in her eyes.
“What do you want?” She snapped.
“Hey there, we would like to fill out adoption paper work for this kid here.” Eda replied, not even shocked by her rudeness.
“Take a number, a officer will come retrieve you in a few moments.”
“There is no one here though?” Luz interjected.
“I said take a number you little fuckwad.”
“Alrighty then.”
They pulled a number and sat down on the hard plastic chairs.
“This reminds me of the DMV in the human realm.”
“What is that, a type of adoption center?” Raine asked quietly.
“No, it’s- nevermind it’s hard to explain.”
They sat, and they sat, and they sat. The center was about to close when the same lady walked out of an office, this time with a cardigan on.
“Follow me, please.” She said sweetly.
Eda quickly stood pulling the rest of the group with her. They followed her into a cubical and sat down of even more uncomfortable chairs.
“So, I hear you want to adopt this adorable little munchkin.”
“That’s right!” Eda said confidently.
“Well alrighty than. I just have to fill out some paperwork if you don’t mind answering a few questions?”
“Not at all” Raine replied.
“First, what is her race. Hybrid, slime, shapeshifter, cursed?”
“Uh, human?” Luz said, hesitantly.
The lady blinked twice before scribbling out some words and writing down human.
“Next, what are your legal names?”
“Raine and Edalyn Clawthorne, we just got married.” Eda proudly stated.
“Wonderful. Reason for adoption?”
“It’s complicated.” Raine said.
“Previous parent?”
“It’s complicated.” Eda replied.
“Siblings?”
Luz went to reply but the lady held up a clawed hand.
“Let me guess, it’s complicated?”
All three of them nodded.
“What are your jobs?”
“Outlaws.” Said Eda.
The woman blinked again, but wrote it down regardless.
“Last, which coven will she be joining?”
“Lady, we just took down the Emperor. She won’t be joining no damn coven.” Eda stated.
“So, should I just put all of them…?”
“Sure.” Raine said calmly, trying to diffuse the situation.
“Alright, just sign and date here I guess, then you are free to go.”
They did so, and Luz left the building hand and hand with her new parents.
