Chapter 2
~ Arabella POV ~
I was halfway through the report that Apsen asked me to write about the case I had recently helped them with.
There were days when I helped them and while I enjoyed helping catch criminals I hated having to see Ambrose Vees who took no chances to filter me and pressure me into going on dates with him.
Aspen and Stella tried not to leave me alone with him or for short periods of time but it didn't always work.
It didn't help that Rose was constantly on my case when she was working with them. I don't know why she doesn't understand the word NO.
I say it clearly and distinctly. Her attempts to have me committed to a psychiatric facility were always unsuccessful thanks to the medical reports of Hadrian and Alex and several of their coworkers and friends who had talked to me and examined my physical and mental health.
I rubbed my eyes as I heard my phone ring. I pulled Pandora off of me before she grabbed my phone, not reading who was calling I answered the phone.
'' Hallo '' I said taired
'' Hey Ara '' I hear Will voice
'' Sorry if I woke you up. I can call you later '' he said
'' Don't worry you woke me up from my nap and that's good because I have to finish what I started. What can I help you with Willy? '' I asked
'' I am now on the case of an assassin who cuts out people's vocal cords as well as stealing one organ. What caught my attention was the marks and symbols they cut into the victims skin. I associated these symbols with you because I remember her showing them to me once '' he began
'' You want me to come to you and take a look at it? '' I asked while writing messages to my friends
'' Yes '' he replied
'' It will take me a while to finish what I started and I have to inform Alex and Hadrian about my departure to you. I will tell you that I am glad that you called will give me a reason to leave I some time. It will give me a way of freedom from Vees and Rose who do not give me peace '' I said
'' Vees isn't he that fan of yours who also works in law and Rose that doctor who wants you as a lab rat '' he said
'' Yep '' I replied
'' Fortunately Hades and Alex are better known and more respected than the obsessive two '' I added
'' I will see you within three to four days Willy '' I said after a moment of silence when I found right fly there and then the car
'' How? '' he asked surprised
'' By not having an employer I can move when and where I want without anyone's permission is the first thing. I managed to quickly find a flight that accepts the animal and find a suitable car to rent. While we were talking I also sent messages to Hadrian and Alex with whom I will have a session scheduled with Hadrian tomorrow. I have dinner planned with Aspen, Alex, Stella and Hadrian dinner with them after tomorrow '' I replied
'' There is a good chance Hadrian will come with me '' I added suddenly when I saw message from him
'' Why? '' he asked
'' I don't know I just got this message from him '' I replied surprised also but I know he has reson for it
'' I will stop bother you now so you can focus on what you are doing '' he replied
'' See you in a few days '' I replied happy I will see him face to face soon
'' Don't let yourself be possessed, Byeeeeeeeeee! '' I added before hung up
'' Bye and Never '' I hear his replied
I rubbed my eyes once more before getting up from the couch. I stretched hard before I felt the tense muscles relax. I wriggled my neck a little feeling the pain in it because I slept crookedly.
I know I shouldn't sleep on it because it always gives me some pain. I headed to the kitchen with my little pack following me.
I prepared their food first, I prefer to give them a mixture of raw meat with their vitamins and food than food alone. Many people expect that I am poor by my profession but that is far from the truth.
My parents were Lawyers while my grandparents were good surgeons. After my grandparents died 20 years ago, we each received an inheritance of $2,500,000 million. I invested one-tenth of what I got and haven't moved it until now.
When I checked last time those $250,000 became $2,000,000 I transferred it to my savings account yesterday before I put another $250,000 into investments to make it grow as well.
My jobs equally give me a good income where I earn about 700,000 a year where I give one second of my earnings to charitable contributions and to help endangered animals. I lost my parents and younger sister 10 years ago when they were hit by a drunk driver.
They died on the spot while he was digesting a 25-year prison sentence along with the loss of his permanent driver's license. I was glad I had Will, Alex, Hadrian, Aspen and Stella with me at the time.
I knew I wouldn't have been able to handle the funeral arrangements as well as the paperwork on my own.
From their compensation and estate I received a total of $15,500,000. I could honestly say that I had become a growing millionaire, but I would give it all up to get them back.
Will lived with me for two months to be sure I was taking care of myself. Despite his denials, I gave him money and every time he tried to return it to me I transferred the same amount of extra to him. After a few weeks of such transformations, he gave in and accepted it.
I know that his job did not pay him well so from time to time I transfer him amounts that he eventually learned that I would not take back. This gives me peace of mind that he can take care of himself and his pack properly.
I also knew that I have a house not far from Will and he has the keys to it. I just need to ask him to get everything up and running for my arrival.
When I put their bowls on the ground they immediately took to eating. I quickly made myself something to eat.
I sat down on the couch before turning on the TV. I also made a mental note in my head to inform my neighbors of my departure.
I live next door to two elderly couples who I help when I'm home. When I was younger my dad taught me everything I needed to know about cars and repairing faults at home.
He wanted me to be able to give advice on how to fix it myself or assess the damage so I wouldn't be cheated by others.
I wiped my eyes when the movie came on before heading to the kitchen to put the dishes in the sink before heading to my room. I grabbed fresh pajamas knowing that tomorrow I would have to do laundry for when I was gone.
I glanced at my watch and to my surprise it was 1:03am. I shook my head and jumped in the shower hoping to get to sleep quickly. I have a session with Hadrian at 12:00 to 1:00 pm and together we will grab Lunch before he has another client/patient.
My flight from London to Louisiana will be about 8 hours so I need to take snacks to us as well. The flight is at 10 p.m at night and I am supposed to land around 6 a.m the next day.
Thanks to my connections and money, we will be flying first class. When I lay down in bed Ikar, Pandora and Hades joined me. I sighed before settling down more comfortably before falling into a peaceful sleep.
