Day 2 - Remus
Remus groaned as he woken up by the blasted alarm going off at 5am. He may be a morning person but this felt a bit to early for him.
As upset as he was he knew why the alarm was set up to go off at 5am each day except for the weekends.
It was because of him and his friends.
Sometime around their 3rd year Remus had noticed that Severus didn't attend any of the meals at Hogwarts. The only time he saw him, was during the first day of school in which everyone had to attend the welcome back feast and to view the sorting of the new students.
He had always wondered why that was, he assumed, as years have gone by, that Severus didn't eat given his appearance.
But last night he had asked Evan about the alarm, he hasn't seen any rule written by Avery about it and hoped he wouldn't have to deal with it again, and Evan's response filled him with guilt.
Evan had explained that the reason for it was due to the bullying done by James and Sirius, Severus refused to attend any of the meals in an effort to avoid them. He refused to be in the same room as them so if possible he hid away wherever he can for some peace and quiet. He and Avery then decided to come up with a solution for this problem.
Severus, who always woke up by 5, would be woken up at 5am and be taken down to the kitchens for breakfast. During lunch he would also eat in the kitchens, and during dinner Severus would eat in the common room. Sometimes he joined the others for dinner or lunch in the great hall but mostly He'd hide away with Mulciber by his side.
Evan also explained that the only reason Avery didn't write anything about it down was because before he left he made it clear that Mulciber would be in charge of Severus eating. Severus had difficulty with properly caring for himself and refused any sort of help. There was clearly no way Severus would trust his health in the hands of someone who has mocked him about his appearance and who allowed others to mock him as well.
The last thing they wanted was for Severus to revert back to his old ways of ignoring his health. Remus had had trouble sleeping afterwards, he tried to think of a way to apologize to Severus. Not only that but once the bet was over he'd have to plan to get his friends to leave him alone.
He got out of bed and once his feet touched the ground the alarm was shut off. He looked towards Severus’s bed and saw that it was empty, he then turned his attention towards Mulciber's bed and saw that it was empty too.
'They must have left already' He thought to himself, he decided to just go back to sleep. He had 3 more hours before breakfast so he could sleep till then. Atleast he wouldn't have to worry about Mulciber and Severus, apparently Evan revealed that those two were in some sort of relationship but neither have actually confirmed nor denied it.
He set up his own alarm to wake him up 30 minutes before 7. He made sure that only he would hear it since Evan was still asleep, and well Evan is the only one that's been nice...well um not nice but civil towards him, and he didn't want to ruin it.
He laid back down and pulled the covers back over his body.
Despite his desire to get more sleep, Remus couldn’t seem to fall back asleep. Instead he laid in bed staring up at the canopy, his mind still racing with thoughts about last night.
He let out a sigh and pulled out his wand to remove the alarm he had set. It was clear to him that he wouldn't be falling back asleep. He got out of bed and decided that he would continue to figure out how to apologize to Severus.
'Maybe I can ask Evan for help' He thought to himself. 'Or Lily' His mind added.
He let out a yawn and went to the bathroom, he would decide who to ask for help after a quick shower which would help him wake up a bit.
After he showered Remus went about getting dressed for the day. His safest bet was to ask Lily for help. If he asked Evan there's a chance he would be rather vague. Remus turned to look over at Evan, who was currently still asleep. He casted a quick tempus and noticed it was almost 7. He wondered if he should wake him but before he could decide the door to their room was thrown open.
He jumped back completely startled as he saw Mulciber walk past him towards Evan. Mulciber had taken a pillow from his own bed as he walked by and then hit Evan in the face with it once he was at his bed side.
Evan jumped awake in annoyance and attempted to grab the pillow from Mulciber’s hand.
"Mulciber what the fuck!?" He shouted out in slight anger.
Mulciber simply smiled "It's time to get up, plus Lestrange is looking for you" He stated as he tossed the pillow back onto his bed.
Evan sat up and rubbed the tiredness out of his eyes "Which one?" He asked before letting out a yawn.
"Who do you think"
Evan rolled his eyes at Mulciber’s response, he got out of bed and went to the bathroom to get ready. Remus stood by and watched in silence. He began wondering who it was Mulciber was talking about.
He had heard about the Lestrange brothers but he never really saw them and if he had then he didn't know it was them. He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the bathroom door close. He looked around and noticed that Evan was gone and he was now alone with Mulciber and Severus.
His mind raced back to what had happened the other day, and he didn't want to risk that happening again. He turned around to face them and was slightly surprised at the sight before him. Mulciber was currently sitting on the floor reading a book while in between Severus's legs.
Severus was sitting on what Remus assumed was Mulciber’s bed. Severus had his legs draped over Mulciber’s shoulders and was busy messing with his hair. Remus tilted his head in confusion, he never expected to see either Severus or Mulciber like this.
Mulciber looked rather calm and at peace, while Severus actually had a small smile on his face and a look of surprised joy in his eyes. Remus was afraid to do or say anything that would ruin the moment, so with extreme carefulness he made his way over to his bed.
Before he could sit down, Evan exited out of the bathroom and walked over to Mulciber and Severus. It was clear from the way Mulciber glared at Remus that Evan had told them something about him. Remus hadn't heard what Evan said and he wished he did.
Evan sent Remus a look saying 'Good luck' and left the room to go meet up with Rabastan. Remus began to panic a bit, he wasn't sure what to do. Severus hated him and he was fairly positive that Mulciber hated him far more than Severus. He waved at them nervously and Mulciber simply snarled at him, while Severus simply rolled his eyes and went back to messing with Mulciber’s hair.
Remus began to feel hungry, he would have suggested going to the great hall for breakfast but Severus had already gone to eat so now he was stuck. He got so lost in thought that he failed to hear one of them calling out to him. He was snapped out of his thoughts when he felt a pillow hit his face.
"What the hell!" He said in a startled tone. He looked at both boys and saw Severus chuckling while Mulciber wore a smug smile.
"Follow" Was all Severus said as he stood up along with Mulciber. Remus gave him a confused look as they exited the room. He quickly followed suit with confusion written all over his face.
Remus kept his eyes on the two boys in front of him. He worried that if he looked away even for a second that they would somehow disappear from his sight. He was a bit lost in thought trying to figure out where they were going that he didn't realize that they stopped walking.
He only noticed when he walked into them, well into Mulciber to be exact. Mulciber simply sneered at him and glared. Severus placed a hand on Mulciber’s shoulder and whatever anger or annoyance Mulciber felt quickly faded away.
Remus quickly stepped back and held up his hands in defense "Sorry" He breathed out quickly. He knew he had to be careful around them given their history, specifically one with Severus, and even tho he didn't get involved in the "pranks" that's just it. He didn't get involved, even after being given a prefect badge.
He either watched in amusement, and felt guilty afterwards, or he looked away and acted like nothing was happening. He told himself if he didn't see it didn't happen which didn't ease his guilty mind but he said it regardless. He knew that even with the slightest offense he causes any of the three boys he has to watch over then he'd be absolutely screwed.
His only hope was that Severus had more heart than he did.
And he did.
Because before Mulciber could even make a move a simple touch from Severus has completely removed every bit of anger he felt. He was a bit shocked at the sight, he hadn't seen someone calm down so quickly and by a single touch.
The fastest he's seen someone calm down was when James attempted to calm down Sirius. It took a few words from him and Sirius's anger left him, not completely but enough for him to walk away.
Tho that wasn't the case with Mulciber, he could tell that all the anger he felt was gone completely and it amazed him really.
Mulciber had turned his attention towards the door that they stood infront of, but not before giving Severus a fond look that lasted for less than a second.
It took Remus a while to realize that they were standing infront of the kitchen door. After a few seconds they were all stepping into the kitchen.
He silently watched as Mulciber spoke to one of the school elves. Remus noticed Severus standing a bit away from Mulciber’s side while eating a liquorice. He worried Severus would wonder off but as Severus tried to step away, he noticed him being pulled back.
It was then that he realized that Mulciber was holding Severus’s hand inorder to keep him in place. Severus didn’t seem at all bothered by it, his attention captured by the elves working.
"C'mon now" Mulciber spoke while tugging Severus’s hand in the direction of one of the tables withing the kitchens. Severus's attention was still on the elves as he allowed Mulciber to drag him away. Remus followed with confusion written all over his face, he couldn't figure out why Severus was fascinated by the elves.
The three boys sat at the table and as soon as they sat a plate of food appeared in front of Remus. He looked at the food and then back at Severus and Mulciber.
Severus had his back turned to him, he assumed he was still watching the elves, and Mulciber appeared to have an arm wrapped around Severus’s waist and had his head on his shoulder.
Remus looked back at the food and began to eat, his hunger completely taking over. He eat in silence as his mind began reeling in thoughts. He wanted to speak to them but he didn't know what to say.
He finished his meal and turned his attention back to the two boys sitting across from him. He felt his eyes widen as he saw the way Mulciber was looking at Severus. It was the exact same way James looked at Sirius whenever he talked about something that interested him. A look of complete fondness and love, that sometimes made Remus wonder if James liked Sirius as more as a friend without realizing it.
He felt like he was intruding in on a private moment. He took in deep breath "I think we should go to class" He stated nervously. Mulciber and Severus turned their attention to him. No emotion was present on their face except for pure annoyance. Remus felt uneasy by their stares and before he could say anything Severus beat him to it.
"Mm, me and Veles have charms and since you swapped places with Wes that means you got charms now too" He stated his voice completely in disdain. Severus stood and motioned for Mulciber to stand as well "Let's go, we mustn't be late" He added as he took hold of Mulciber hand and headed out of the kitchen.
Remus quickly stood up and followed them. He worried how things would go during classes and he hoped all went well.
