Remus pt.2
Remus had feared the worst when he left the kitchens along with Severus and Mulciber.
In retrospect he should have realized that things would have gone well during class considering that Severus never messes around in class. Tho in his defense he did expect Mulciber to mess around but it seemed that Severus had a good handle on him.
First they went to charms and Evan, who had joined them after doing whatever it is he did, sat on Severus’s right while Mulciber sat on his left and Remus sat Evan's left side. Things went by smoothly considering they weren't sharing a class with Gryffindor's except for himself. It seemed the professor knew about the bet he and Avery made.
The second class they attended was Herbology, and that class went smoothly as well. Tho Severus did attempt to eat some of the plants for some reason. Evan had to stop him from doing so but then Severus dared Mulciber to eat a dirt rock and Evan practically tackled Mulciber to the ground because after several warnings to not eat it. Mulciber tossed it into his mouth and Evan tried to pry it out.
Thankfully neither of them got detention. With the fond look Professor Sprout gave them Remus assumed this happened a lot and that she'd grown to like the three boys, he assumed Avery was included as well. Professor sprout only took away a few points and soon class was dismissed.
It was their third class that caused major problems. They had history of magic, a class that held both slytherin and gryffindor students. That meant his friends were there and with Professor Binns being an incompetent teacher, Remus was sure choas would ensue. Remus, Severus, Mulciber, and Evan were some of the first ones there. Severus had been the one to lead them to their classes, seemed he was more punctual than himself.
They took some seats near the front. Severus and Evan sat in one desk, and Remus sat with Mulciber in the desk behind them. Why he was made to sit next to Mulciber he didn't know, he could understand not being sat next to Severus but he had figured he'd sit next to Evan. Tho perhaps due to what happened in Herbology that is probably why Mulciber wasn't sitting with Severus.
Remus could feel the tension between him and Mulciber. He felt the glare Mulciber was giving him and he did everything in his power to not shake in fear. He tried to think of something to say, something to get Mulciber to stop glaring at him. He turned to look at him and before he could say something he caught sight of someone who he had never been more happy to see in his entire life.
Standing next to Mulciber was Avery. Remus looked at Avery gratefully as Avery talked to Mulciber. He heard Avery tell Mulciber to behave and Remus felt like he could breath easily as he watched Mulciber nod with a small smile on his face. He looked over at Evan and Severus and saw them rush over to Avery the minute they heard his voice. Remus was so caught up at the lovely reunion that he failed to notice his own friends sneaking up on him.
He jumped in his seat the minute he felt his friends hug him. "Guy please, I can't breath" He said as they hugged him tightly. They all let go and he turned to face them. "Hey guys" Remus said softly while smiling "How are things going with Avery?" He asked curiously.
Sirius was the one to speak up "Awful, moony! He dumped water all over me!" He complained and Remus could only laugh in response. Which resulted in Sirius whining and declaring that it wasn't funny.
"Sorry, sorry, next time you should wake up on time." Remus said in amusement and Sirius only glared at him in response. James pushed Sirus aside inorder to speak to Remus "Moony, I know I make jokes about you being such a mother hen but he's worse. He hardly lets us do anything fun." James whine and Remus could only roll his eyes.
"Good, its about time you lot stopped causing trouble" Remus said sternly. He hadn't expected for Avery to have control over his friends but given that he spent his day with Snape, Mulciber, and Rosier he really wasn't that surprised. He barely had a handle on his own friends.
"I like him, he buys snacks" Peter eventually said.
"Of course you do, wormtail" Sirius said as he rolled his eyes. Remus shot Sirius a death glare before looking over at Peter with a warm smile and saying, "I'm glad you like him, Peter, it's nice to know one of you isn't having any issues about all this"
Peter smiled back and before he or James & Sirius could say another word Professor Binns appreaded and annouced the start of class. He bid his friends goodbye and watched as Avery dragged them away to the back of class. It seemed Avery wanted to keep both groups seperate which to him seemed like a good idea.
He hate to see what kind of chaos would happen if they all say close to eachother. He looked back at Snape, Mulciber, and Rosier. He felt Mulciber's gaze on him but it only made him feel uneasy. He stared at Snape and watched him write what he thought were notes on some parchment. He noticed Evan watching Severus closely and occasionally whisper to him.
He felt his uneasiness fade away and he glanced over at Mulciber. He saw Mulciber look at the two in front of him and noticed the glum expression on his face. It took him a moment to realize why that was, Mulciber wanted to be next to Severus and not next to someone who had a hand in hurting Severus.
Remus sighed deeply and against his better judgement he called out to Evan quietly. Evan turned around to face Remus and looked at him questionably. Remus leaned forward and whispered to Evan, "Switch seats with Mulciber."
Evan raised an eyebrow, "What for?" He asked and Remus glanced at Mulciber before speaking up. "I have to talk to you" He answered and Evan simply nodded. Remus watched as Evan leaned over to Mulciber and tell him to switch seats with him.
It shocked Remus to see Mulciber's expression brighten up so quickly. He hadn't seen someone move so quickly before, it seemed Mulciber was far more eager then expected to sit next to Severus. Evan took Mulciber's spot while Mulciber took Evan's spot. Remus saw Mulciber automatically latch himself onto Severus and the sight made him smile softly.
Remus felt at ease at his choice of action, he spent the rest of class talking to Evan and learning more about them all.
When class ended they all gathered their things and made their way out of class. Evan was the first to leave along with Severus and before Remus made his move to follow he felt someone grab his arm.
He turned around to see who grabbed him and he was surprised to see Mulciber holding onto his arm with a blank expression.
Mulciber was silent for a moment before speaking up in a quiet tone, "Thank you" He said before walking off to catch up with Severus and Evan. Remus stood there stunned, he hadn't expected for Mulciber to ever speak to him let alone thank him.
Remus smiled and hurried off after them feeling a sense of determination wash over him.
