March First
Sunday, March 1st, 1992
Last March first was a Friday. Alex remembered because she had a school trip to the local zoo. It was not a good trip.
The animals were sad, the kids rude, the adults negligent, and Alex disgusted.
How could someone take poor, defenseless animals and trap them in tiny cages for people's benefit? The animals should be released immediately! But, they couldn't be because most of their land was destroyed, not to mention that many were there from birth so wouldn't survive a re-release.
Yet, they were depressed and unfit.
Alex felt like vomiting the whole trip, almost did a few times.
This March first was different. Alex was sick, nothing serious, in bed, pondering whether or not she could have a United meeting today.
Really she shouldn't. She wouldn't get anyone sick or anything, it was contagious. But....It would probably be better if she rested. Still, United was important and this was just a little illness. The long time gains out-weighed the short term loses, right?
Her therapist and sister and friends wouldn't be pleased, but....
Alex sneezed, suddenly feeling drained.
Maybe she would stay in bed.
