The first weekend morning

Saturday, September 7th, 1991

Damian found himself waking up at 6:00, per usual. He was always the first to get up in his room, and the weekend didn't seem to being any difference.

Damian sat up, and looked around. Everyone else was still asleep, as predicted. The young boy, just sat on his bed for a few minutes, enjoying the morning.

He soon had to get up however, and so did so.

Once up, Damian, went to the bathroom, and did the necessary steps in there. Which included a shower, and putting on his normal, boring outfit. A pair of jeans, black high-top converse, and a sweater over top of a plain colored tee-shirt. The shirt of the day was black, and the sweater was dark blue. He decided to change his hair up a bit today, and so pulled it back into a loose ponytail.

Damian arrived in the great hall at 7:30, having spent a little while reading before coming down. And went to sit at the slytherin table with Alex.

The two pre-teens did the customary greeting, before eating their breakfast in silence. Since, there wasn't any classes that day, Alex had also come down to breakfast later than usual. So, they both finished eating at a little before 8:00.

After breakfast, Damian instinctively followed Alex, who brought him outside. They didn't talk much until Damian found himself reaching the lake. He saw Alex sit down on a big rock next to the waterside, and so did the same.

"Why did you bring us out here?" The brunette questioned, a minute or two later.

Alex shrugged before replying "I've wanted to see the lake up close since we arrived, but didn't really have the chance. Today, however, I did.".

"Oh. But, why did I come?"

"You followed me."

"Yeah, but you could have told me to go away."

"Maybe, I didn't want you to go away."

"You, didn't?"

"No, I didn't. Honestly, I kind of wanted you to follow me out."

"Why?"

"You're my friend, I like spending time with you."

"You do?"

Laughing slightly, Alex replied "Yes, I do. Lots of questions today, huh?".

"I just can't believe you would want to be around me."

"Why wouldn't I?"

"Most people haven't, in the past."

"Well, it's not the past. It's the future! And it's wonderful to be here."

Breathing in the boy answered "Yeah, it is.".

The two eleven year olds sat together next to the water for a while. Sometimes talking, sometimes playing games, or telling stories, and sometimes just sitting in silence. They stayed for hours, not being broken from their trance until lunch time.

A house elf appeared in front of the two, with a basket.

"Excuse me masters, but Wispy is bringing you food. Wispy saws you sitting here, alls day. And thoughts you must be hungry. So, Wispy made you a lunch."

Taking the basket Alex replied "Thank you, Wispy. Here, take this.". She then handed the elf five galleons.

"Oh, no, mistress. Wispy, can not accept this. Is to much."

"It is not to much. You deserve it, you work hard all the time. And you went out of your way to make us this food. You deserve more, honestly."

Wispy tried to protest, but Alex wouldn't have it. So, in the end, Wispy left with five more galleons, than they previously owned.

Once the house elf was gone, Damian turned to Alex, and spoke his first words since Wispy arrived.

"Who-and what- was that?"

"That was Wispy, I don't really know them. They are a house elf. House elf's work for wixen, they like to work. But, many aren't treated well. "

Alex went on to explain the ends and outs of house elfs while the two ate. How some wanted freedom and some didn't. How some wanted breaks and money, while others were fine with how it was. How it was slavery, because they didn't have a choice. So, to change it from slavery to volunteer work(or just a normal job) they would have to get to choose whether they worked or not. And about everything else she could fit in the time frame.

Alex couldn't get through everything, as the two had to go for their therapy appointment once they finished eating. But, Damian left with a lot more knowledge, some book titles, and the beginning of a plan.
