Meeting Draco

Alex was walking down the Alley with her mom, as the family decided to split up. They had just finished buying everything and so were now exploring. They walked past Madame Malkins(one store they hadn't gone in because Alex found uniforms stupid. And Gracie just in general didn't like the material the schools uniforms were made out of) right as an eleven year old walked out.

Alex walked over to the pre-teen interested in making friends before Hogwarts.

"Hi, my name is Alex. I don't mean to interrupt you I just wanted to introduce myself, in the hope of at least meeting someone before the school year begins."

"Hello, Alex. I am Draco Malfoy. I assume you're going to Hogwarts, as well."

"I am."

"What house do you think you'll be in? I want to be a Slytherin, like my father. Though, I suppose being a Ravenclaw, like my mother, wouldn't be to bad."

"I don't really mind what house I'm in."

"If you say so." Draco said in a clearly confused tone.

"Oh, I use She/Her pronouns by the way. What about you?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean what are your pronouns. Do you use He/Him, She/Her, They/Them, something else, all of the above?"

"He/Him. And you can't use They/Them pronouns, it's plural."

"Of course you can. They/Them pronouns have been used singularly for years."

"I've never met anyone who used They/Them pronouns singularly."

"And I've never met someone who lives in Canada, but that doesn't mean Canadians don't exist."

And then there was beautiful silence.

"I'm gonna go. See you at school." Draco said suddenly having questions.

"Bye."

Turning back to her mom Alexandria said "Well, this could go two very different ways."

"Yeah. I assume you'll update me, when you find out more."

"Of course."
