Chapter 15
Prompt: You Were My Biggest Mistake
She saw him across the field. His impeccable posture and confidence gave him away, even in his dark robes and mask. His skill in battle was as terrifying as it was intoxicating and Hermione once again wondered how she found herself in this position. Too lost in thoughts of him, she didn't see the curse coming until it was too late. Pain exploded behind her eyes as the field went black and her insides began to burn as though they were on fire.
She felt herself be picked up and struggled to open her eyes, the pain dulling all of her senses. Hot breath puffed across her ear as a familiar deep drawl whispered her name.
“Hermione, please, please, stay with me. I’m getting you out, you’ll be ok.”
As comforting as the words were, she knew there was no help to be had. Choking back the tears threatening to spill, Hermione opened her eyes to find grey orbs peering back.
“I love you Draco. I thought you were my biggest mistake, but turns out you were the best choice I ever made. Don’t stop fighting. Help bring that new world we’ve dreamed of.”
As she felt herself begin to drift away, Hermione was surprised to find she wasn’t scared or upset. Draco would change the world and when he was done, she’d be waiting.
