Because I love you

Harry Potter sat on an old worn out chair, gazing at the man lying on the white bed. The man had a pale face matching the covers of the bed and hollowed cheeks that showed how unhealthy he was. Dark circles surrounded the closed eyes as the man remained unmoving. Harry sighed for the thousandth time, holding the fragile, pale hands of the other, desperately awaiting for the eyes to open. Suddenly, a woman in nurse attire came by and pulled out a chart. "He seems to be stable enough now, thanks to the statis spell you've performed Mr Potter but the venom took a while to counter and it damaged his body so he'll need a long time to fully recover," she explained in a calm tone.

Harry ignored her in favour of staring at the man he loved. "Do you think it's safe to move him to my home? The press will try and infiltrate the place to get a look at him," said the teen through gritted teeth. He'd always hated the press for butting their noses where they do not belong. The Mediwitch hummed and gazed back at the chart contemplating the question.

"If he continues to be stable for the next week, you may take him home," she finally replied. Harry smiled at her and nodded in thanks. The woman smiled back and left the room. Harry stroked the man's hollow cheek fondly.

"You hear that Severus, if you continue to get better, you can come home," said the teen. The body of Severus Snape remained unresponsive but alive. Harry smiled at the man, his green eyes holding a lot of emotions, especially a new one. If someone analysed the gaze long enough, they'll find the hint of insanity in them. A darkness that took over.

Harry hadn't admitted it but after defeating Voldemort he'd lost a part of himself. He'd been tormented and guided on a certain path for so long, that once his mission ended, things became strange for him...foreign. Except for the fact that he loved Severus. Yes, Harry had fallen in love with his bitter potion's master after their encounter at the end of Harry's sixth year. Severus had revealed his identity as the half-blood Prince and Harry quickly associated the two personas together, discovering his attraction to both his half-blood Prince and Severus Snape.

When Harry turned 17 and reached his majority, his magical power reached its peak. He hid his power from his friends because he worried they'd fear him. He knew powerful magic when he saw it and felt it. He'd been around Dumbledore and Voldemort long enough. Harry may have not known many spells but he certainly could perform the most powerful of them with ease. During their camping for the horcruxes Hermione had forced the boys to study with her, since it kept their minds busy and the spells would help them. Harry was sure that he could perform well in his NEWTs for the upcoming school year but he had to concentrate on Severus for now.

His Severus had suffered so much in the past, from bullying among school mates and housemates, to choosing the Dark Lord because he got shunned by the Light. Then he lost his best friend and only person he ever loved, only to be stuck in a job he hated so that he could protect her son. Then the Dark Lord returned and Dumbledore just had to order Severus to kill him, labelling Severus as a traitor once more. And just as the war was coming to a close, Voldemort attempted to Kill him. The only way he survived was his intelligence to have healing potions on him and a potion that nullified the part of the Nagini's venom that reopened wounds. That's how Harry was able to save him.

Flashback

The teen had rushed to his love's side and begged for a solution. "Potions...in my r-robes," Severus said breathlessly. Harry immediately  Accioed the things instead of bothering to search for them. The teen practically shoved them into Severus's mouth. The potion's master drank one after the other, his cutshealing but he still suffered from loss of blood and the venom was circulating his system. "My memories, take them. No time, I won't make it," said Severus. Hermione appeared next to Harry and used her wand to extract the memories and place them into a container. On the other hand, Harry was losing it. He didn't want the man he loved to die. No, he wouldn't allow that to happen.

In that moment, Harry released some of his power and his magic performed his wish. A very powerful Statis spell was performed on Severus, keeping him in the same state. Alive but barely. It was enough to keep him alive while Harry finished killing Voldie and then return to get Severus some help. After the war ended with the bastard's death, Harry managed to escape the crowd using his trusty cloak of invisibility and ran back to the shack. He found Severus as he'd left him and sighed in relief. "Kreacher!" Harry called.

"Master Harry call?" Kreacher replied as he appirated into the shack. Harry gazed at his elf and checked that he was fine.

"Are you injured?" The elf shook his head. "Good, I'd like you to take Severus to Saint Mungo's hospital. Tell them that he's under my protection and I'll pay for his treatment. He better receive the best of it or else," hissed the teen warningly. The elf bowed low for his master and took the unconscious man.

End of Flashback

It's now been two weeks since then. The trials for the Death Eaters had begun and thanks to Harry's influence, Severus's name was first. The trial had been the day before and thanks to the teen's fame and a little help from Dumbledore's painting as well as proof from a secret solicitor, Severus was exonerated from all his crimes and given an Order of Merlin first class medal too. Harry was proud of himself for achieving this for his love. Now, the man didn't have to worry about anything but himself and Harry.

The week passed with Severus slowly recovering but still in his coma. His body was obviously exhausted from all the fighting, and the venom had done its toll on the already tired body. Harry was given permission to take Severus home with a very detailed care routine. The teen was more than happy to oblige and took his love home. Home wasn't Grimmauld place anymore. No, Harry had purchased a secluded house just outside of London. It was beautiful and just big enough for a couple and a guest or two. Harry didn't want to overwhelm Severus when he woke up so a small house under a Fidelius charm sounded like the perfect option. The press couldn't reach them and the beautiful countryside provided a serene atmosphere.

Harry placed Severus in the main room, it had an en-suite bathroom and a balcony. The teen hoped the fresh air would aid in Severus's recovery, so he made sure to keep the door slightly open. For the next few days, Harry followed the instructions caring for Severus. He'd had to leave the house a few times to go to the Ministry so Kreacher kept an eye on the potion's master during those trips. Anyway, Severus's body was showing signs of healing. His cheeks weren’t as hollow and the dark circles were disappearing slowly. Saint Mungo's had provided special nutrition potions that his body could handle.

At the end of the first week of Severus's stay, when Harry was sat beside him reading the Daily Prophet, hoping it would encourage Severus to awaken, the potion's master grumbled and his face, as well as his hands, twitched. Harry gasped at the development, "Severus, Severus can you hear me? Oh I'm glad. Take your time, you don't have to wake up just yet but please stay with me," whispered the teen as he held the man's hands and caressed them. Severus stirred a little but didn't wake up, it was enough of a reaction to encourage Harry even further.

For the next week, the teen doubled his efforts to heal Severus, ensuring he read to him, massaged his limbs so they don't stiffen too much, wash him well and give him his medicine and nutritional potions. The potions master began to stir more and more, reacting to simple sounds as if his sleep was being disrupted. He'd even opened his eyes twice but immediately closed them afterwards, probably out of reflex rather than consciousness. However, Harry was ecstatic to see the progress in his love, soon he'd have him around again.

The teen had prevented anyone from visiting the potion's master. Even McGonogall couldn't get Harry to tell her where he kept him. The teen simply reassured them that he was taking care of Severus and that their presence would be overwhelming to the potion's master in his state. Nobody argued much against him and allowed Harry the freedom to decide. After all, he was the saviour and a kind soul, he's the best person to heal Severus at the moment. Especially since most people were busy with the aftermath of the war. McGonogall and her colleagues had to employ civilian witches and wizards to aid in rebuilding Hogwarts. The ministry was running around trying to fix the damage done by Voldemort to their departments. There were many fired and prosecuted for their role in the war.

At the end of the second week of Severus's stay at the house, while the sun shone high in the sky, indicating midday, the potion's master stirred for the umpteenth time. Except this time, he groggily began to open his eyes. Slowly but surly the man began to awaken. It took a few minutes for Severus to fully gain consciousness and once he did, he froze. The man was still a little weak and his muscles, no matter how much they got massaged, were stiff from lack of use. Severus fought to sit up, groaning and moaning in pain as he did so. It took him a few moments to be able to sit up and lean against the bed post, panting from the effort.

"H-hello?" He croaked out, his voice week and barely audible. Suddenly a house elf appeared next to him. The elf looked very familiar but Severus was exhausted and wasn't fully comprehending the situation.

"Master Severus awake! Please master, stay in bed and I'll get master Harry," said the elf and he left. Severus was confused. Why was the elf calling him master and who's Harry? Wait...that elf. He...no, no way. That elf looked identical to Kreacher the Black family house elf, Potter's elf. So, that must mean that Harry is... Just as Severus was completing his thought a tall, broad man with messy chestnut hair and the brightest green, doe eyes entered the room. Harry Potter was gazing back at Severus with the widest smile the professor had ever seen the boy...no, the man ever wear.

"You're really awake, I'm so glad. Here," said Harry as he got closer to the older man. Severus watched the teen reach next to him and grab a potion's bottle. "Drink this it'll help," he said as he handed Severus the bottle. Severus gazed sceptically at the potion but grabbed it and opened the cork. He sniffed it and tried to determine how safe it was to drink. "It's just a pepper up," Harry explained with a chuckle. Severus drank the contents and immediately felt more refreshed and energised. His mind was as sharp as ever and his body wasn't as achy. "Drink some water too and here is a lozenge for your throat. You haven't used it in a while," continued the teen as he took the potion bottle away and handed the other two items to Severus.

The older man grabbed them and did as he was told. He popped the lozenge in his mouth, feeling the sweetness and numbing agent working on his dry throat. The glass of water was nice and refreshing too. The potion's master cleared his throat a bit before he spoke again. "What happened?" He asked, his voice still a a little scratchy.

"I'll explain the main points now, while you have some breakfast. You must be hungry. Kreacher."

"Yes master, Kreacher is on it," the elf quickly walked out of the room with a hint of a skip in his step.

"We'll get to the details of what happened in due time," said Harry and he sat on the side of Severus's bed. The teen explained the events following Nagini's bite and the Statis spell. How he went to Dumbledore's office and viewed the memories. He then left the office using his invisibility cloak and left the castle. On the way he bumped into Neville and handed him the sword with the instruction to kill Nagini. The other boy knew what Harry was up to and agreed. Harry then walked to his death. He used the stone to see his dead loved ones and they stood by him as he headed to his death. At the last moment, Harry popped the stone, along with the cloak, in the pouch around his neck and walked up to the group of Death Eaters.

Voldemort obviously made a dramatic speech and then killed Harry, except, thanks to Lily's protection, Harry survived once again. At that Snape interrupted, "what do you mean Lily's protection? You’re of age," he said in disbelief.

"Well, Dumbledore's explanation is that Voldemort's use of my blood to get revived had strengthened our connection and her protection for me against him," explained Harry with a shrug. "Honestly I still don't get it either but I'm just glad to be alive," said the teen. Kreacher appeared with a tray full of delicious food. From eggs and sausage, fruity granola and yogurt to waffles. There was also tea and juice.

"This is for master," said Kreacher as he levitated the tray to lay down on Severus's lap. There was a spell on it so it would stay in place and the food didn't spill too. "Anything else, just call Kreacher!" The elf exclaimed happily.

"Thank you Kreacher that looks wonderful," said Harry and the elf bowed before exiting the room. "Please, eat. I'll continue to talk, there isn't much left to say anyway," said the teen as he gestured at the tray. Severus happily ate as he listened to Harry tell the rest of the story.

By the end, Severus was stunned to say the least. He was given a second chance to live by Harry Potter. He wasn't sure how to feel about that. He'd never liked the boy much, finding him mediocre at best. Yes, the boy was heroic there was no denying that but he was also reckless and couldn't see past his own nose when it came to people. He judged as much as his father and acted rashly. Then again, he was very young and Severus should really just appreciate the teen's concern and aid. "You've rescued me. Why?" He asked. He'd finished his breakfast, eating almost everything and drank all his tea.

"I won't lie, it was mainly for selfish reasons," stated Harry as he stood up and took the tray from Severus's lap. The tray vanished curtesy of Kreacher's magic. "I had a lot to say to you. And after viewing your memories I had even more things to say," Harry explained softly. Severus tensed up knowing what questions awaited him from the teen. Lily. "You don't have to answer anything now. I prefer you concentrate on recovering," said the teen, seeing Severus's uncomfortable expression.

The older man sighed in relief. He attempted to get out of bed but groaned as his stiff muscles fought against the movement. The pepper up had helped relax them a little but not much. "Oh let me help you." Harry rushed to the man's side and slowly helped him up. Severus groaned again as his feet touched the ground and his weak legs tried to support his weight. He was still underweight but thanks to the nutritional potions he'd put some of the weight back on. "Easy, easy. Do you need the bathroom or do you just want to go to the balcony for some fresh air?" Harry inquired. The teen's face was so close that Severus felt his warm breath caress his ear.

The potion's master was caught off guard by the closeness and the tingling sensation on his ear. The man flushed as Harry's strong arm wrapped around his waist while the other held Severus's arm. The teen led Severus slowly to the balcony, opening the door and allowing the potions master to enter the open area. Severus took a deep breath of fresh air and stared at the scenery. That's when it hit him. Where the hell were they? His face must have betrayed his thoughts as he whipped his head to gaze at Harry and the teen chuckled. "We're just outside of London. I purchased this place for privacy," explained the teen with a grin. Severus chuckled and deep down, felt appreciation for the thought. "Snape, why don't I help you stretch?"

The older man froze, he wasn't sure if he could handle the teen being closer. However, his body needed stretching to regain its natural mobility. "Okay," he whispered. Harry grinned wider and gently released Severus from his grip. The potion's master felt his legs shake a little but they were keeping him up. Harry moved behind him and held onto his arms from behind. Severus now noticed that the teen was as tall as him. When did that happen? Harry didn't seem to notice the older's reaction and began to lift the arms.

"Work with me Snape," he said. For the next twenty minutes, Harry worked on stretching Severus's limbs and massaging them. He lifted the hands up and pulled, moved the hip from side to side, helped the man bend over on all side ma and lifted up the legs one after the other. Finally, Harry reached up and began massaging Severus's neck. By now the man was biting his bottom lip, hard. The teen's touch had been so soft yet so firm. The massage was removing the aches and the gentle caresses between areas were causing shivers to travel down Severus's spine. He'd never been touched like this before.

Harry began moving his thumbs up and down the back of Severus's neck down the area behind his ears. The potion's master couldn't stop the whine from escaping his throat as the pressure dissipated. Harry smirked proudly to himself. The teen leaned closer so that his warm breath hit the back of the pale neck. Severus's knees nearly buckled at the gentle contact. His body was so relaxed yet so aroused. His face flushed in embarrassment and humiliation. He was getting turned on by a massage from his former student and the son of his nemesis. Another whimper escaped the parted lips, thanks to Harry's hands pressing a particularly tense area.

Harry inhaled sharply, smelling the wonderful cinnamon scent of Severus's shampoo. The teen had Kreacher wash Severus every day, so that when he woke up, he'd feel clean and refreshed. "How do you feel?" Asked Harry, seeing his love struggle to stand still.

"I-ehm, it's good Mr Potter. Thank you for all your help. My body feels much better now," said Severus. His voice was shaky and breathless. Harry fought back a groan and the urge to spin Severus round and devour his lips.

"I'm glad," Harry own voice was deep and imbued with lust. Severus's breath hitched at hearing it so close to his ear. The older man began to tremble, both from fear and a strange sense of anticipation. It took another two minutes for Harry to finish massaging the neck, all the while Severus was rooted in place unable to move or react. "There, all done. Why don't you sit down, before your legs give out? We can walk around after you rest them," whispered the teen. Severus shakily nodded and walked to the closest chair and nearly collapsed on it. "Would you like to drink some water?" Another nod.

Harry went inside to grab a glass, leaving Severus alone with his thoughts. "W-what's happening? Something...something isn't right," whispered the potion's master. He had a gut feeling he couldn't explain, all he knew was that Potter was dangerous. Something about him wasn't right. A few moments later the teen returned, still wearing that grin.

"Here you are," he said as he handed the glass to Severus. The man nodded his gratitude and gulped down the water, hoping it would clear head. He was clearly just being paranoid. "Oh and Snape, please call me Harry from now on. I'm no longer your student and I think we can start fresh," said the teen with hopeful eyes.

"Very well," replied Severus with a sigh. The teen kept gazing at him expectantly and the man knew Harry was waiting for him to actually use his name. Severus sighed again, unable to resist the beautiful green orbs. "Harry." The teen grinned widely and with that grin Severus's gut feeling returned in full swing. Yes, there was definitely something wrong with Harry Potter. That grin appeared innocent at first glance but those eyes, they shone with something dark. Something primal, that Severus only ever saw once. It was the same gaze Bellatrix gave the Dark Lord whenever he praised her. The mad glee, possessive adoration and so much more. Severus gulped. "H-Harry, I- has anyone visited me?"

"Oh, when you were in hospital yes but once you moved here, well, everyone became busy with the clean up and they trusted me to care for you," Harry replied sweetly but Severus had rehearsed enough lies as a spy to know what the truth was. Oh, Harry wasn't lying by any means, the statement was entirely genuine however, there was something hidden between the lines. The teen probably convinced people that visiting would only disrupt Severus's recovery or something akin to that excuse. Severus wasn't sure what to do. How was he getting out of this situation? Who would believe him if he stated that their golden saviour was holding him against his will?

While Severus's mind was spiralling, Harry noticed his former professor's expression and understood that the man had figured him out. Harry wasn't worried though, Severus had no wand, no authority over Harry and certainly no one would suspect The Saviour to be controlling. Harry vowed to protect and cherish his love for the rest of their lives at any cost. He was going to prove to Severus that he, Harry James Potter, was the only person worthy of his love. No one else deserved the potion's master but him. Harry smiled confidently and gazed at his man lovingly, it'll take a while but Severus will eventually see it Harry's way.
