Beyond Dinner.
Severus watches his husband saunter toward him, color-coded cards filled with Harry’s illegible writing held haphazardly in his hands.
Harry has worked on those cards for days. Severus appreciates his effort despite knowing that, like all of Harry’s speeches, this romantic Valentine-day’s gesture is about to go up in flames.
As if on cue, Harry smiles besottedly at him, trips, drops the cards, looks down in dismay, and stutters, “Ha!”
Severus rolls his eyes but aids him with a neutral, “Hmm.”
Harry smiles sheepishly, “Dinner?”
Severus laughs, charmed despite himself, “Certainly.”
And, together, they walk off. Toward dinner. And beyond.
