Chapter 1
"Shh, you're ok" A young woman with fiery auburn hair and the most beautiful emerald, green eyes anyone had ever seen, was cradling her 16 day-old-baby trying to rock the baby girl into a peaceful sleep.
Lily Potter had a small smile gracing her face as she watched her daughter. Soon enough the little girl had fallen asleep, and Lily smiled down at her daughter before wondering down to the living room looking for her husband and 1-year-old son Harry.
As she walks down the stairs, she sees James her husband and her little boy playing with his toy train set, Lily watches them for a moment before James looks up with a bright smile on his face and waves her over.
Lily greets both her boys with a little kiss on the cheek, “Is she asleep?” James asked as he pulled Lily into his side, “Yeah, she’s out. Soon it’ll be this little-man’s bedtime” Lily said as she pulled Harry to her.
The three of them enjoy the peace and quiet for a little before they both go up to put Harry to bed. Awhile later the pair are standing around in the kitchen having a cup of tea before bed when they sense something in the wards.
“Lily, Go get Harry and, and run. I’ll meet you at Sirius’” James said as he ushered her back upstairs, “What James?” Lily asked, “He’s here. Something has happened to Worm tail. Voldemort’s here” Lily gasped, “GO! Lily take the kids and go to Sirius’. I love you” James kissed Lily one last time before running, “JAMES!” Lily called, He looked back at his wife and saw the tears rolling down her cheeks, “I love you, James” Lily said before running off to collect her children.
When Lily runs up the stairs, she places her wand to her head and pulls any of the memories she deemed important enough into a vile before clasping it shut and slipping it onto the necklace that she placed around her daughters head.
Summoning her Patronus she “Take this to Remus Lupin then the second half to Sirius Black, Remus, he’s here and I know this will be the last thing you’ll here from me. Athena has something precious I need you to collect from me. Don’t abandon them. They’re yours as much as their mine. I love you.
“Sirius, I know you know. Don’t go after Peter let him go. I need you to trust Remus. He loves you. I need you to be there for my kids. Remus will need you. I need you to do this for me. James needs you to step up and be the best Uncle Pad‘foo you can be. I love you Sirius and so does James.”
After finishing her Patronus, Lily quickly runs into the nursery and places Athena into her carrier and disillusions her and quickly grabs Harry and places him into the crib, hearing the yell of "Avada Kedavra".
She picked up Harry trying to calm him down “Harry Mumma loves you; dada loves you, Harry be safe, be strong, protect Atty, I love you Harry” Lily places Harry down into the cot and is just about to disillusion him but the door blasts open, she quickly kisses Harry’s head and turns around, and there stood Voldemort in all his glory,
"Not Harry, not Harry, please not Harry!” Lily pleads, “Stand aside you silly girl … stand aside now.” Voldemort demands “Not Harry, please no, take me, kill me instead-” Lily continues pleading “Not Harry! Please … have mercy … have mercy…” Lily’s words die on her lips as Voldemort yells out “AVADA KEDAVRA”
Lily screams as the curse hits her, and her body falls to the ground “AVADA KEDAVRA” Voldemort yells although this time it is different, instead of Harry being killed he walks away from the interaction and in front of his crib where 5 seconds earlier his parents murder stood, is a pile of grey dust.
In central London Remus Lupin watched in horror as Lily Potters Patronus vanishes from his apartment, the man had just gotten back from trying to convince another pack of wolves that Dumbledore had the right idea when he received the Patronus. Forgetting all about the plans to speak to Dumbledore, Remus turns on the spot to apparates straight to Godric’s Hallow.
Sirius Black stands frozen; he had just left his cousin Andromedas house and was about to Apparate back to the apartment he shared with his other best mate Remus Lupin when Lily Potter’s Patronus told him all of the things that he didn’t want to hear. Quickly apparating straight to the front of the place where his best friends and godchildren lived. He soon found out how true it was.
When Remus arrived, he was shocked to find Sirius hugging James’ body to his own and crying, he quickly ran over to his friend and pulled him to him. The pair was silent, as they started the process of grieving the best friend anyone could have wanted.
Both men were holding on to the other as they walked through the house that had so many good memories that both would treasure for years to come. Walking into the nursery Remus stumbled into the ground and cried as he held Lily in his arms, Sirius walked straight to the crib and picked his eldest godchild up and hugged him close to his body, feeling thankful that Voldemort had only gotten the two of them.
Then both men froze as if the same thought has occurred to them, they both quickly started walking around the room when Remus could sense magic coming from over in the corner of the room, he gently casted a ‘Finite Incantatem’ over the area and let out a breath of relief when his goddaughter was revealed, however the relief was short lived when he noticed how pale and sickly, she looked.
“Sirius!” Remus yelled, Sirius who still had Harry in his arms, quickly ran over and felt relief when he saw the little girl but looking closer at the little girl, he too noticed how sick she looked.
Remus and Sirius left the cottage soon after summoning Medi witches from St. Mungos to look after James and Lily and the pile of dust that neither of them wanted to discuss. The two quickly walked down the street to Bathilda Bagshots home where they then flooed straight into the Infirmary at Hogwarts. “POPPY!” Sirius yelled as Remus gently laid both children into separate cots.
“Mr Black, I have to ask that you stop yelling and tell me why you’re in my infirmary at 8:45pm on a Saturday night?” Ignoring Poppy, Sirius kept yelling, “I want everyone who is not here to be treated for injuries to leave.” When nobody made a move to leave, Sirius yelled, “Now!” Soon enough the infirmary had been vacated except for a few students who looked terrified. Poppy now angry, yells at Sirius again asking what he is doing here but this time Remus speaks before Sirius gets a word out,
“Lily sent us a Patronus just before she died detailing all that was going on, as soon as we got there, we sent for Medi witches and went looking for Harry and Athena, we found Harry pretty quickly as he was in his crib, but we couldn’t find Athena. When we did find her, we quickly left and brought her here. She looks almost dead” Remus explained, trying to stay calm however anyone could hear the urgency in his voice.
Hearing what she heard Poppy rushed into action. Poppy quickly walked over to the child and mumbled something under her breath, "Her name is Athena Lily Potter, born on October 15th, 1981, She’s just 16 days old being exposed to this much magic this young could be terrible for her magical core, I have to place her in a magical stasis, this is the only way we can try and save her" Poppy informs, “Then do it,” Sirius snarks as he picks Harry up and starts to calm down.
“Before I do it, I have to inform you both that the stasis only lasts for 8 years and that she can’t leave the school walls, it would be unsafe to move her once we do it. This means we need permission from the headmaster to do it.” She says as she walks over to the floo and summons Albus Dumbledore and Minerva McGonagall.
Within minutes the situation has been explained to the two professors and Little Athena had been placed into the stasis.
The three Hogwarts staff had talked it out and a small room accessible only to the 5 adults present and Harry when he became old enough. “What now Poppy?” Remus asks, “We wait and see. When the little girl wakes up, we’ll know. I’ve set an enchantment over the crib to let me know. But for now, we give the little girl lots of love.
