Shy Smiles
Maybe falling in love with one of your best friends at sixteen was a family thing. Harry oftentimes wished he knew his parents better to confirm but oh well. The life he had lived had brought him to this point in his life and even if sometimes he liked to dream, he wouldn’t change who he was or what he had for anything.
Sometimes he couldn’t believe Scorpius Malfoy had been raised by Draco Malfoy. Sure, Astoria probably had a lot to do in the great person her son had become, but there was still some Draco Malfoy sprinkled in his personality and surprisingly Harry didn’t hate it. Scorpius was just the type of person his son would love. Of course. Such a sweet boy with a golden heart and an ability to turn his tongue sour and spill some of the sassiest remarks. Harry had grown quite fond of him.
There was this new version of Scorpius. And Harry loved it. There was this version of Scorpius that was sweet shy smiles and ‘Mr and Mrs Potter’ and head bows and lots of ‘Oh, I’m sorry’ after some sarcastic comments, and blushed cheeks…
Summer between Albus’ sixth and seventh year came down faster than Harry expected. It had more to do with the fact that James was graduating Hogwarts (He had given his first steps two months ago! When had he turned seventeen??) but it still did, and as usual, Scorpius and Albus met up twice or thrice a week, sometimes even every day. This summer, though, Albus was spending more time at the Manor (having so many people in the house at all times in the Potters was… an inconvenience, to say the least, and Harry and his five brothers in law knew that very well), but the times his son’s boyfriend came over, even if rare, were quite enjoyable.
Before they started dating, Scorpius was always extra polite at the time of his arrival, but ended up just behaving normally when he and his friend got whatever they were doing interrupted by the call of dinner, the two boys ending up resuming their conversation loudly at the table. But since Scoroius was there officially as Albus’ boyfriend, he was more careful, and more reserved. When he accidentally got carried away, he blushed and apologized.
Harry and Ginny found it endearing.
Even if it didn’t take Albus that much time to have his boyfriend realize that his parents didn’t actually care if he was extra polite and reserved or if he was just loud funny and sarcastic, Harry would always keep the memories of sharing breakfasts with Scorpius, and even without being much of a morning person, having something very clear in his mind; there was nobody fitter to Albus than Scorpius.
